Dream Life

Episode XVII: The Foothilla

Tria history March 15, 2018.

A line of the Marquis Seawell family had left the village of Rasmore, and quiet time was once again flowing to the Hall Hill. Even though it is quiet, the vigilante training is just as it has been before, just to say that the routine has returned.

When the line leaves, it asks to be in the name of the Marquis family, Viscount Ignacious Radford. It's about regular exchange of information.

The way to do this is to ask the village of Rasmore to pick up the aged Seawell wine once a few months and exchange information with the person who came to receive it.

The Seawell family naturally gives us information about the situation in the Imperial City, but we have to provide some information here as well.

As for the information to be given here, I intend to organize and hand over to Cy Furman, an informant in the academic city of Doctus, the information on the Kingdom of Kaum obtained from the distilled liquor scheduled flights (Scotch liners) and, furthermore, the information obtained from Henry Norton of the Norton Chamber of Commerce, who carries Scotch to Periclitle.

The information on the Seawell family may contain meticulous information and have it communicated orally to a trusted person. The information I gather is to mislead it into alcohol and gastronomy information, so that if it leaks, the Seawell family won't be bothered.

I can also verbally pass on my information, but it would be more convenient for Viscount Radford and I to think that my relationship was connected by alcohol alone, so I decided to pass on the liquor story in writing. If we can get a good leak at the Marquis, we should be less worried about the Lockhart family being suspected of putting more shoulders in the Seawell family than we need.

In five or six days, Dägenhardt and twenty-five other blacksmiths will arrive from Wellburn. I have a lot to prepare for by then, and I'm pretty busy, but with peaceful times like right now, I can forget my busyness.

Luna's situation is of the utmost concern of all, but remains as closed as ever. I was so indifferent that I didn't even know if you were aware that the Seawell family envoy had arrived.

We think we have to take time about Luna, but not much time to prepare to protect her. Reinforcements of defensive facilities and vigilantes are steadily progressing, but I am still concerned about who the enemy is. So far, I have no clue, and only haste solicits.

You cared about me like that, and I've been suggesting that Liddy and Beatrice go scouting the woods.

"When the Dwarves get here, we're running out of time to go to the woods. If you're going, now's the time." And Liddy said to Beatrice, "Right. Build and train towers these days, plus just a taste of alcohol. I don't know if it's healthy or unhealthy, but at least I don't think it's healthy," he laughs.

For a moment, the anxiety that the enemy would come when I wasn't around is past my head, but I decided to take the two suggestions that I had to break it off.

On a still chilly early spring morning, I wake up earlier than usual and head into the woods.

To stretch my legs east of Lake Seelin in my hope, because the total distance traveled will be more than twenty kilometers. Going on reconnaissance with me is Mark, the vigilante young man and archer who went with Dan and Mel to Welburn.

Originally it was the day Dan and Mark headed for reconnaissance, so it's natural for them to be there, but Liddy and Beatrice insisted strongly that they take Mel, so she's in on it too.

Asking Liddy why she was taking Mel, she said, "There's no particular reason. Somehow," she teases. Asking Beatrice the same question, she said, "I really wanted Sharon to come with me. Because there's something about that kid, hey," he answered.

Apparently, he wanted to relieve stress and make me go to the woods with "Zack Cartel” for the first time in a long time. By the way, Sharon said she refused because she had care of Luna from herself.

The air is still cold in mid-March, and although the wind stroking your cheeks is cold, the sky you look up at is the clear pale blue jade "Sapphire Blue" of early spring, and fresh sprouts of bright emerald "Emerald Green" are beginning to appear in the meadows and woods on the grass.

Forest east of the village, but the number of demons has fallen significantly compared to before due to enhanced reconnaissance and the crusade of demons. But even more from the Aquila Mountains to the east, there is a constant influx of demons, and there is still no such thing as long idleness as the forest to the west.

Although slightly nervous about the long time forest, we continue along the Arn River, which flows north of the village, in order to head to Lake Seelin.

"It's the same as then," Mel spoke to me. What she meant by "that time” was when she followed a herd of orcs and helped Luna out.

"Right. I'm not more pressed than I was then."

When I say that brightly, Dan also says, "Right,"

"You're not going as far in the forcible army this time, are you? How far are you going today?

"It feels like we're going somewhere we can go. It's been a long time since I've been camping, but one of my goals is to find a good campsite."

Having said that, he was going to cross Lake Seelin and step further into the foothills of Aquila. This time it is not only intended to be a mere reconnaissance, but also to carry out an investigation of the waiting areas available for a wide range of future enemies and the location of the installation of the wolf smoke tower for emergency contact.

There are also opinions that sentries in the range of about five kilometres radius from the villages we are currently visiting are sufficient. Compared to the thirty years before my grandfathers came to the village, the village is now rarely attacked, and I don't have to wonder if it makes sense to "patrol" more sentinels through the deep woods.

However, given the herd of orgs and oaks eleven years ago and the herd of oaks last year, I am concerned that in just five kilometres the village could be ambushed.

Current enemies are fan-shaped. Even so, instead of searching for a fan-shaped "sector", it is shaped to follow the outer circumference of the fan. In other words, it will be the route of going straight about five kilometers from the village, moving to draw an arc, and then coming straight back to the village. Two squads do this every day, half a circle with a radius of five kilometers is in the enemy range of a day.

In this range, but even if we find traces, even the oak, which is said to be relatively slow on its feet, is only a distance away from getting to the village in a couple of hours. This means that even if we could discover it, it would likely be too late.

If this is a village on the plain, it is possible to see the approaching enemy, but the village of Rasmore is surrounded by deep woods and the surroundings of the village are not promising. In other words, all of a sudden, they're going to be attacked from the woods.

If you're a demon wandering through the woods looking for food as before, it wasn't that problematic in the current system. Assuming, however, that it has the aim of targeting the village, it is overwhelmingly lacking to the present extent.

That's why it's difficult to easily broaden the range of enemies. Even in the current fan-shaped with a radius of five kilometres, a simple distance of travel alone would be about eighteen kilometres. The distance of eighteen kilometres is not a great distance if it's a street or a flat ground, but in the deep woods it just drains away.

Obstructed by the trees, it is difficult to go straight ahead, and the ups and downs are intense. For this reason, even if it is maximized, the range that can be carried out on a day trip is precisely seven kilometers.

Then I wondered if I could build a base somewhere and expand my range of opponents by staying there for one or two nights.

Base, but easy to make with my earthly attribute magic. If I can use storage magic (inventory) to carry supplies such as preserved foods, I can carry a significant amount of them in one go. If it can also be used as an emergency evacuation site, it is also possible to wait for rescue there even if there is a sudden accident during an opponent.

The problem is that we have no means of contacting them even if we create a base in a remote location and carry out an opponent. Naturally, there is no radio or cell phone in this world. Moreover, nowadays there is no magic that can replace them. The fastest way to get in touch is to fly aboard the Feilong Wyburn or the Winged Lion Griffon, but there is nothing as convenient as that here. I mean, people have to communicate on foot.

For once, I also considered the means of a biographical pigeon, but I abstained from knowing how to train and not knowing if the pigeons of this world have a nesting instinct. What's more, even if we can train, there are many flying demons in this world that are unlikely to be traced safely.

So I came up with the idea of building a wolf smoke table.

Though not knowledgeable about the visible distance of wolf smoke, Kanga Hill is a hill as its name suggests, and since it builds an anti-aircraft tower near the top, you can see the surroundings from a height of about sixty meters.

Since there are also telescopes that I have built, I believe that if conditions permit, I can withstand practicality if I keep them at a distance of about ten kilometers, or seven or eight kilometers if I expect to be safe. Of course, it considers it necessary to experiment and check before installation.

Wolf smoketails can also be made without so much bitterness if they are magically chimney shaped with earthly attributes. After that, you can create a facility to store combustible materials such as firewood and materials that color the smoke.

Its enemy base and candidate for the Wolf Smoke Table, but I am thinking about the eastern side of the most dangerous village, especially from the eastern side of Lake Seelin, where a massive herd of demons has passed twice, to the south along the Aquila Mountains.

The four of us start walking, but the oldest mark feels delayed. Even when it comes to the oldest, I'm only twenty-two years old, and I have enough skill to be called an ancient soldier "veteran" at this age with archer level thirty, but I guess the three of us have too much basic talent.

Even Liddy, who has experience as an adventurer, including me, didn't realize it, but Beatrice once told me.

She said to the three of me, Mel and Dan, "You guys are amazing. Even if you ignore swordsmanship, you have the power of a first-rate martial artist." And he said, "It's a shame to keep Sharon as a magician. Well, we need to be a little more forthcoming," he praised Sharon's physical abilities as well.

Based on me, whose status I can confirm, Mel and Dan feel that their muscle strength is a little lower than mine, and their agility, etc. is a little lower than mine, and they're not that pale as me with over ninety reflex nerves and physical control abilities. Exactly because endurance is “robust” with special abilities, I don't think it's comparable, but I still think it's a far higher ability than the average villager.

The lagging mark bows his head, "I'm sorry," but I apologize, "No, it's my mistake I didn't realize".

(Zack Sextet (us) was the only one who acted a lot. Thinking about it, Sharon had quite a stamina, too. No, it shouldn't mean there's more stamina than Mark. Because maybe he was following me with his guts......)

Unlike the ladylike atmosphere, Sharon barely makes a weak noise. I often smiled when I said it was “okay” to look pale.

Veterans Beatrice and Liddy didn't even notice, so they always made it impossible until I did.

Once, I complained to Liddy and the others, but I didn't try again just to say, "Sharon's okay because I know exactly what you mean".

(You should be a little more careful next time. I wouldn't have picked up so much pace, but if even the adult mark were tighter, Sharon would have been tougher. Still, how could neither Liddy nor Beatrice tell me...)

We put in a few small pauses and arrived east of Lake Sealyn around 10am.

The area is slightly elevated but high, with residual winter snow accumulating among the trees. From that melting snow, fresh greens were beginning to emerge, and the spring footsteps were also heard in the deep woods.

Lake Sealyn was a very beautiful lake, lined with birchy trees on the shores of the lake and even had a villa-like atmosphere somewhere.

But such an idyllic "idyllic" atmosphere also awakens at once by Dan's sharp warning.

"It's Snowwolf! Ten in the back of your right hand! No! There's more!

Dan pointed in the direction of a deep forest lined with birch and birch trees on the east side of the lake. From there a pure white wolf appeared. Unlike its beautiful appearance, it opens its mouth with a hungry expression, drooling sloppily.

Snow Wolf Snow Wolf is a wolf larger than a gray wolf or forest wolf, usually a territory in the mountains of Aquila, but from winter to spring it comes down to the foot in search of food. They hit that timing.

"Shield the tree behind you! Mark! Dan! Pull me in with a bow! Drop the bow as soon as you come near me! Mel, don't go too far forward!

I hear a voice of understanding from the three of us. The wolves are slowly approaching.

That distance, roughly fifty meters.

I will soon cast a new magic spell for the group.

"God of light (Lucidus), who commands all the light of the world. Consolidate the holy power of your family, the Spirit of Light, and give me the glowing arrow of your will. I will not give my life to you at that price..."

When I start casting spells, the wolves start to be alert at the same time. It was as if I was feeling the flow of spiritual power.

The wolves started running together.

Mark, who sees it, squeezes his long bow and releases an arrow at the leading wolf. Still a long way from the special, but it seems to have prioritized reducing the number. The arrow pierces to be sucked into the wolf's forefoot, and falls in to relax, with the squeal of gang.

The wolves guard the arrows and scatter among the trees.

Following Mark, Dan also releases an arrow and shoots precisely through the wolf's neck, which was near the lead.

As Mark and Dan release their arrows, the power of the Spirit gradually gathers. In about ten seconds a stick of light appeared on his right hand, one and five meters long and about twenty centimeters thick. The power of the Spirit is not sufficient, but the distance from the wolves is already approaching twenty meters and activates the magic as it is.

"Pierce my enemy! Multiple Bullet (Multiple Guided) Light Arrow (Shining Arrow)!"

At that moment, a thick stick of light pops up diagonally. For a moment, the wolves send their gaze to that stick of light, but decided there was no danger, and they burst into it with the momentum as it stood.

Upon ascending to a position about five metres high, the bars of light explode without sound.

At the next moment, ten arrows of light burst out. It also looked like a lily flower painted in a golden light.

The arrows of light emitted at high speeds fly in the wake of the wolves. Though the wolves show hesitation in the arrows of light that strike from overhead, they twist their bodies insanely into death following their instincts to avoid fatal injuries.

But my arrow of light instantly modified its orbit, as if to grin the wolves' desperate movements. Though he twisted his body, the fast arrows followed the wolf's movements perfectly, and the ten arrows pierced the neck of the ten wolves precisely.

Disabled ten wolves in an instant. If it were a flying arrow, half of it would have been avoided, but an autonomous arrow wouldn't have allowed it.

The magic I used this time was a light arrow mimicking a multi-warhead missile, the so-called Marv - MIRV: Multiple Independently - Targetable Reentry Vehicle. Each child missile separated from the parent missile is aimed at an independent target, which was previously made in the same image as the "Fire Cannon" shown in the demonstration.

The flame shell (Fire Cannon) is a grenade image, but this multi-shot (Multiple Guided) light arrow (Shining Arrow) was initially made with the same concept.

However, arrows of light could not subdivide them, and separating them into twenty was the limit.

As it flew further conical, the range of attack was not so wide and inferior in killing power. For this reason, we tried to make it an inductive version with improved hit accuracy.

As Marv imagines it, it is an inductive improvement, but this is what I think is going well.

First of all, I like the fact that it flies exactly to the enemy's steeple - this time the throat - as I imagine it. As with the Swallow Next Blade (Swallow Cutter), it is autonomously controlled, giving an image does not require aiming, and all of it, whether twenty or not, is excellent towards the enemy's steeple.

It is even harder to slow down because it scatters in front of the enemy. Magic such as the Arrow of Light (Shining Arrow) or the Tai Arrow of Fire (Flame Bolt) exhibits the same behavior as the underlying phenomenon. In other words, if you extend the distance you fly just like an arrow, the speed will drop for that matter.

However, since this multi-shot light arrow activates about ten meters in front of the enemy, it hardly slows down, as do arrows fired from close range. For this reason, even beast system demons with good reflex nerves are often unable to react properly.

However, there were two shortcomings.

One is that it consumes a lot of magic. Because it mimics something that does not exist in this world, it is caused by the Spirit's inability to understand it and forcefully form magic.

Spend 10% of all magic in this one shot. Because of the short activation time, it was done to this extent, but alongside the Black Butterfly Circle Dance (Spanglewaltz), it was a magic that consumed a lot of magic.

Another drawback is that the name is long. I thought about shortening it, but I didn't have enough vocabulary. That's why it's a long name for futility without taste. It hasn't become a practical problem, so it may not be so much a drawback, but I don't like it at all.

Regardless of the name, the magic of the multi-bullet light arrow had reduced the wolf to five heads. I thought I'd lose my people and lose my will to fight, but my eyes seem to see a flame of anger, which increases my speed even more as if it shows my willingness to take my people's revenge.

"Mark! Don't get out of behind us! Dan's my right! Mel's to the left! Let's go!" he exclaims. The three of you said, "Copy that!" The voice returns.

As I step forward, I set up the magic sword of Adamantite that I had already pulled out. This time the magic won't pass because of the underground snow wolf.

Mel does not pass through magic in the same way and, as usual, awaits his enemies in a clean setting.

Dan threw down his bow and stood up to protrude the long sword he had stabbed on the ground. Mark was staring at the wolves with a bow with an arrow to attack from between us.

To restrain me or without a single wolf jumping, he stopped right in front of me, lowered his posture and aimed at his feet. One head is trying to restrain Mel in the same way. And the other three heads fly off to Dan.

Smartly enough, he felt exactly where he was most vulnerable.

But Dan was calm. When three wolves find themselves flying one after the other, they quickly pass their magic through the magic sword and wrap the flames around it.

To cover Dan as well, I release a thrust into the first of the three heads that went to Dan. But the distance was so far away that it only caused a thin wound near the base of the wolf's forefoot that it was not fatal.

On the contrary, the wolf in front of me flew for his tibia, as if to poke my gap.

A snow wolf, like the one that made the big dog about two turns old, looms to crawl through the ground. But I wasn't in a hurry. Because I could have expected this to happen.

I spun my body forcefully around the shaft with my right foot from the thrust I released to the right like fencing, avoiding the big mouth of the wolf. Not only avoid it, but use the momentum of its rotation and slash it on the wolf's neck in such a way that it feels like it's going to snap up. The famous Ulrich sword easily chops and rips thick wolf fur, and the arterially cut wolf sprays blood and dyes pure white hair deep red.

Mel's "Yah! The mood of tearing" woods spirits in the woods. I hear the sound of Dothari, and I am sure that the wolf before Mel was defeated.

I couldn't see everything, but Dan was calm all the time.

When I saw that one of the heads I hurt was frightened, I slammed a magic sword that wrapped the flames around the wolf in the front. The famous Johann Wilt's Mithrill sword, Tsugugi, can easily sever the wolf's neck and burst into an unpleasant smell of fur around it. He stretched out hugely to pull Dan down without his other head frightening. Dan leaves the wolf in a broken momentum, lowering his posture to crouch.

For a moment, I thought it tasted bad.

A wolf weighing nearly a hundred kilograms is pressurized by the momentum he keeps running in. If you lose balance and fall, you can stick your fangs up your throat as you go. That's what it looked like.

But the wolf couldn't jump on Dan. Because Mark, who was behind Dan, released an arrow from close range.

Mark, who is intoxicated by Hector Marron, a servant of the Lockhart family, used the same rigid bow as Hector. The arrows released from that bow have the power to penetrate even the chest armor of metal armor, Cuiras, if at close range.

The arrow pierced under the neck of a wolf without any protective equipment. The wolf would jump into the arrow himself, stabbed through the heart and died.

More than ten wolves were still alive, including the wolves who fell by my magic, but all of them sustained hand injuries and were beating around in pain. I'll alert Dan to the perimeter and stab him in the stop with me and Mel.

It's all over and I finally get a zero grin.

"Good day. You smell pretty bloody good. We recovered the crystal stone and the body, shall we move it?"

Everyone snorts at my words.

Originally, the wolf's body is discarded. Snow Wolf fur is sturdy on beauty and sells high, but because it risks being attacked by other demons invited by the smell of blood while the fur is being stripped away. But in my case, I don't process fur, I just put it in the storage magic (inventory).

We left a deep red spot on the bright white leftover snow, and we left the spot behind.
