Dream Life

Episode 26: Smokey

Tria history around noon on April 20, 2018.

Although there was a happening that Katrina Brentwood, Queen of the Kingdom of Kaum, would accompany her with patience, the blacksmiths at the General Headquarters of the Blacksmith Guild arrived safely in the village of Rasmore.

My grandfather and brother welcomed the queen to Kanga Hill, and I can see that he is relieved even by the sight. Though safe territory, this would be the normal feeling, as you escorted the queen of a country with only thirty vigilantes.

Referring the Queen to key members of Kanga Hill, including her father and mother, they all lost their words abruptly, but have recently become accustomed to these unexpected events, with the exception of her father and mother as host. This could also be thanks to the Dwarves.

Katie, but I didn't just bring in a bureaucrat.

As was the case with the Uncle Granger case, a barrel of sweet wine from her home, the Viscount Rosingrave - the Precious Rotten Wine - and a barrel of the finest apple liquor (seedle) specialty from the Kingdom of Cohm were decided to compensate me. This time, I'm also carrying the liquor.

I'm going to serve it at the banquet, but some of it is going to turn to bottle aging. Apart from the precious rotten wine, I prefer the apple liquor (seedle) that I put to bed in a bottle for a few months or so.

By the way, it's also served at a banquet in Ars, where Mel likes the apple liquor (seedle) and Sharon likes the precious rotten wine. Liddy and Dan both like it, but Beatrice doesn't seem to like sweet liquor.

Scheduled for today, but with the arrival around noon, a tour of the distillery and reservoir is scheduled after lunch, with tastings of the Zach collection and a welcome feast scheduled for the evening.

The skill appraisal meeting of the blacksmiths of Wellburn, the original purpose of (...), will take place tomorrow morning, and the tournament will be in the afternoon compared to the drinking of alcohol brought by each branch.

The blacksmiths from each branch of Periclitle and Doctus, who were staying in Kilnarek, also arrive around noon, and the Dwarf rate in the village of Rasmore is rising at once.

Since this is the only number of people, lunch is to be consumed in the assembly room of the workshop. Upon finishing his one-way greeting, he immediately headed to the workshop. When we arrived at the workshop, the blacksmiths of the village of Rasmore, Beltram and Dagenhardt and other blacksmiths of Welburn, were waiting.

Ulrich, the master craftsman, approaches Beltram and slaps him on the back of the bang with his shoulder in his arms, "It's been a long time," he said. Beltram also says, "My uncle seems fine and above all," and he flaunts his face.

I recently learned that Bertram hit Ulrich's younger brother's son, or nephew, and when he was younger, he trained in Ulrich's workshop.

Not only Ulrich, but Gaelnote also slaps Beltram on the shoulder and is happy to reunite. Gaelnote is one of Beltram's masters, he says.

"I'm glad you're the blacksmith in this village. Others wouldn't have been able to drink so much alcohol," he praises with a full grin.

Immediately after the start of production of Scotch, Beltram is sending the test sample "Sample" to Ars. The then chief craftsman was Gaelnote, and his holding of a general meeting to approve the full purchase has prompted Scotch to increase production.

There is an och in the story at this time, and of the samples I only sent ten, one has been hung from other parents and made to sober for three days because they drank it with Gaelnote and Ulrich and five others.

They tend to think it's just three days sober, but they say to Beltram, "Wouldn't you be able to put up with it for about three days? That much?" He shook his neck sideways with tremendous momentum and said, "The inability to drink for Dwarves is just like telling you not to breathe! He shouted," If I were you, I would have told you to kill me. "He was shaking slightly as if he had seen something horrible.

By the way, that sobriety isn't the same as the "sobriety" that the Dagenhardts did, it's a complete sobriety ban.

Lunch, but of course, booze is mandatory and two barrels of scotch are available.

There was room for Ars and the Wellburn blacksmiths already drinking in this village, but the gaze of thirty dwarves of the slightly distributed Periclitle, plus the three branches of Primus, Fortis and Doctus, with no Scotch distribution at all, was concentrated in two barrels.

Mixed with the Dwarves, for some reason Queen Kati sat in the General Headquarters seat. The accompanying bureaucrats seem to eat elsewhere, and she's the only one outside of the Lockhart family who's not a dwarf.

Still, due to the Queen's piercing - although she's actually a queen and not a queen - she doesn't make me uncomfortable at all. Neither do the blacksmiths in the branch who are unaware of the circumstances care if they are related to the General Headquarters. Well, maybe there's just consciousness going on in Scotch's barrel.

After everyone sits down, as usual, they immediately distribute the scotch.

"Not a jock at first, but a glass handed out, please!," I say, "but without questioning anyone, I will honestly follow. I guess the information around here is coming from Welburn and Ars.

After briefly describing the first cup of scotch as usual, let it taste. Lunch began, expressing itself as loud and satisfied, though not as reactive as the Zach collection.

In addition to the bowel stuffs (sausages), ham, cheese, etc. that the merchants have sold in for lunch, there will be plenty of knobs such as the smoking of the village's famous mass.

Tensions are unusually high, either from the exhilaration of arriving at the Holy Land (...) village of Rasmore, including the Dwarves at the Ulrich headquarters. Before I started eating enough, I entered the grand banquet, and my father and I were in the blame for greeting him. Incidentally, my grandfather and brother refuse this banquet because of security, and the distillers Scots refuse because they will also be hindered from visiting the distillery in the afternoon.

The Dwarves got high in Scotch, but things have changed slightly where the second barrel is about half gone. He's starting to worry about touring the distillery and the reservoir, and he's getting restless. When this happens, a silent instruction from my father, "You divide up”, flies.

"Scotch can also be drunk at the evening's welcoming feast! After this we will take a look at the three distilleries in our village and finally visit the vault in Kanga Hill…"

There are eighty-five Dwarves going on a tour. There are just too many people to see at once, so divide them into three squads. One squad of ten Primes for Ulrich and twenty others at headquarters, two squads of Dagenhardt and twenty-five other blacksmiths in Welburn, and three squads for Doctus, Periclittle and Fortis branches, one squadron for Beatrice, two squadrons for Dan and three squadrons for me to pull to each distillery.

At the distillery, the distillation manager explains it, so the rater doesn't explain it, but Beatrice had an intentional relationship with the Ulrich and Dan was nominated by the Dwarves of Welburn because they liked it.

Each of the three current distilleries is named “Rasmore Distillery," “Finside Distillery," and “Shekharion Distillery.”

The first name bears the name of the village because of the village's specialties, while the second bears the image of “Speyside” in the sense that it is next to the Finn River. The third bears the name of a nearby mountain, which was also given the image of "Ben O O", which is common in Scotch whiskey distilleries.

This is an idea for a future brand strategy, so that the image of flavor can be seen by name, with the feeling that “Rasmore” is Orthodox Scotch, “Finside” is Scented Scotch and Brandy, and "Shekhalion” is Light Scotch and Calvato (...) S - not Calvados, an Apple Brandy that takes the name of distiller Calvert.

Even so, so far, I haven't sent out anything with the brand name on it, and it's all shipped in brackets: Scotch, Brandy and Carbatos. This was intended to penetrate scotch and so on as a general noun, because I thought poor branding would confuse consumers.

I don't know if consumers really get confused, but it's because I remembered a liquor called "Coantro” that is commonly used in cocktails. Although Coantro is a liqueur trade name called "White Curaçao," it is often not recognised that Coantro and White Curaçao are the same liquor.

Now it's recognized as the same booze, but it used to be often mistaken for someone who doesn't drink cocktails for another. Especially when it says Coantro in a Western recipe, or White Curaçao, it seems confusing.

Because the trade name Coantro is very famous, I wonder if the name White Curaçao did not penetrate. It doesn't necessarily mean the same thing doesn't happen in Scotch or Brandy. So far, I am not going to dare name the brand until distilled liquor is made in other lands.

The three squads I lead start at the Shekhalion Distillery.

The sweet fragrance is brought in here because the apple liquor is distilled now. Calvert, who is in charge here, will explain the basics of distillation to the blacksmiths.

"The important thing in distillation is how to get the alcohol out well… you shouldn't get too hot or too low, you drain the first and last tasteless areas and concentrate your whole nerve there on how good it is to get it out…"

The Dwarves nod to one explanation at a time with their mysterious faces. Occasionally, questions fly, but Calvert answers politely.

"Now let's try the distilled liquor," he said, pouring the liquor flowing out of the distiller into a bottle of glass. Raise the bottle with the first glass of eye and say, "The distilled liquor thus made is colorless and transparent. By putting this to sleep in a barrel of wood, we grow it into a beautiful amber liquid…".

Pour more into the tasting glass you keep on the table.

The Dwarves receive their glasses in an orderly fashion to Calvert's words: "Now everyone, take one at a time".

Seeing these places impresses me that they have control. I've never been confused in front of the real thing. I get one too, smell the scent.

(Don't get sold enough of this. Fruit brandy may not even age......)

That's what I think, but I'm not willing to sell it out in this village. This is because I want to anchor the image of "village of Rasmore = long-term aged liquor”.

The Dwarves said, "Ugh! The voice sounds," Is this incomplete? "I hear a sigh.

He then looked at it as a Finside Distillery, Lasmore Distillery, and arrived at the vault in Kanga Hill around 4 p.m. I toured the three distilleries for about two and a half hours, splitting and running, but there was a satisfying grin on the faces of the Dwarves.

After the rendezvous, I asked Ulrich what he thought.

"The maker has shown me so much restraint, I thought I'd have to indulge the drunks. Keep the craftsmen in the mood, gahahaha!

Where I don't know, he seemed tempted by the distillers coming from Ars. Though I hope it will be too much pressure, I thought back to thinking that I should get used to it now because there will be pressure even after I get back, and I didn't say anything.

Nearly a hundred people are gathered in the vault, describing one squad at a time, and the other two squads plan to be given a free tour. Sometimes too many people to see at once, but for other reasons.

I am going to have a tasting in the reservoir this time as well and see the taste changes due to aging, because I need to narrow down the number of people for that. Furthermore, I am going to have a look at the taste of a special scotch this time.

It's a “smoky” Scotch flavor that helped “Pete” start distilling six months ago.

I checked the flavor the other day, but Pete was good and had a unique iodo-like aroma that was adequate. However, due to the short aging period of six months, the smokiness is still winning too much and if it is delicious, it is subtle. Still, to make the Dwarves realize this is the real flavor, give it a try.

Speaking to Scott about it, he himself, unable to understand the taste of smoky Scotch, has reluctantly suggested that "we should see how things go a little bit more". I'm the only one who does know the true delicacy of Pete's clever, smoky Scotch, so I might as well let him sleep in the Zach collection for about a decade.

Still, I wasn't going to stop. Instead, I decided to try to get a little taste in it. I actually tried it on Scott, but he was also impressed with "you get so much depth in the taste," and agreed with me on the tasting.

I'll start tasting on the first squad, but Kati and the bureaucrats are accompanying this squad. Scott was meeting Katie in Ars, and when he first saw her at the distillery, he immediately noticed, kneeling unexpectedly.

My mistake I forgot to explain beforehand, but "It's bad for my heart," he fooled me. I did apologize because I was right, but if I were to say that, I would want the Queen herself to say it.

Scott will explain to Ulrich and Kati how the colours and aromas change due to differences in aging and barrels.

"It doesn't mean you should age. There is a maturation period that suits the characteristics of the barrel…"

From halfway through that explanation, five types of scotch are poured into the glass. The poured glass is covered with a metal lid and placed on a wooden plate. That plate has a number from one to five written on it, and it lines up nicely there.

"The scotch we have now is the same quartered barrel, but it has a maturation period of six, two, five or eight years. Another kind, but this is a scotch that has only been around for six months. However, it is a blend of various barrels."

Ulrich and the others are seriously listening to Scott's explanation.

"Now, there must be a set for each of you, so please include it in your mouth in my order. Open the lid only when drinking and close it immediately. to prevent the scent from shifting. Okay, give me the best."

The glass is lifted simultaneously with Scott's signal and the lid is opened. Dwarf's move is as undisturbed as ever, but the bureaucrats just can't keep up with that move. Of course, Kati, whose soul is Dwarf, moves exactly the same as the blacksmiths.

I'll drink the same.

(You're still the youngest. The roughness is still out front......)

Without anyone talking, follow Scott's signal, remain silent, and the tasting continues.

I see a change in the look on the Dwarves' faces at number three, and in number four, it turns into a full laugh. The blacksmiths, coming from Imperial Primes, who had never even had a drink in three years, lean a small glass in tears and complain with their eyes, "Can you give me some more?"

Don't say "I can drink a lot of stuff later for a decade," and get back to the point.

"About eight years, I think it would taste better over the years. Now try the last five."

Blended whiskey - I just blended a single malt whiskey, so when I included "vatted whiskey" in my mouth the old way, I saw a huge change in the look on the Dwarves' faces. Until now, it was all just as satisfying, but there were all kinds of expressions on it. Some had a full smile, while others tilted their necks, and even those making sinister surfaces.

"This scotch makes a huge difference from what you've been drinking. Perhaps you've all felt it, but I think it smelled like burning, like smoke. How about that, Mr. Ulrich?

Scott asked Ulrich for his thoughts.

"Lord Scott is right. What's the first one? You felt that."

Scott nodded at the words, "Was it tasty? Ask further questions."

"I feel subtly different from the taste of Non, but it's definitely better than the first one I drank"

Scott asks the Dwarves one question after another. About 20% were admirable, 40% were positive, 30% were negative, and the remaining 10% were out of taste.

"This thing is a prototype. I used the peat Pete I found the other day when I visited Ars. For my part, I still don't think this is going to taste good. But as long as there are people like you who love Scotch, we have to evolve it without being satisfied with the flavour we have today. This is Pete's favorite thing, but I'd like you to have another drink."

In the meantime, the glass that was poured is handed out.

"This is a blend of a very small amount of eight-year-old Scotch, six months of Pete's favor. Go ahead, have a drink."

The moment the Dwarves put their mouths on the glass, the ambient air changed. Even those who had a negative expression in the earlier Blended had turned into a trance.

"I think it's deeper in taste than the eight years earlier. Neither am I, and Master Zach is still completely unhappy with this. But there seems to be an unlimited possibility for this blend…"

Scott, who is usually quiet, talks hot. Did the Dwarves think the same thing, they just snorted in tears at Scott's words?

"My queen... no, I would like to ask Mr Kati"

Scott suddenly started talking to Kati.

"This time, I heard you could lay down a law on the quality of distilled liquor. There are non-transferable parts of distilled liquor making. I don't mind tying that up with the law. I don't know it's hard for me to be just a craftsman, but don't make it a law that binds the creativity of the craftsmen. Distilled liquor is still developing…"

At that time, was Kati extremely impressed or in tears?

"Yeah, I get it. I shall be responsible for reflecting what Mr Scott has said in the law. Make this much alcohol and keep moving forward. I want the artisans of Ars to be apprentices too."

Ulrich and the others said to the words, "Right! Agree."

"Nora and the others thought the same thing! I didn't know you were satisfied with the Zack collection... just fine! Non is still trying something new! I can't be satisfied with three attributes. I'll make more gear than I have now to show you!

In Gaelnote's words, "Goodbye!" The voice goes up. Looks like the artisan soul has caught fire to Scott's determination.

This time the blended prepared is clearly incomplete. It's unbalanced because I mix young scotch like I feel Pete, and I only have the impression that it's cheap whiskey. Still, as Scott said, the possibilities feel full. The smoky scent that comes up after you drink it makes you feel like you're drinking Scotch.

I succeeded in cognizant of the whiskey that made the Dwarves favor Pete. Going forward, you'll be able to have a gutsy and coming scotch like “Heavy Peated” on Isla.
