Dream Life

Episode 71: The Treatment of the Lockhart Family

The Chancellor, Duke Irving Feelobisher, who broke up with the Duke of Alexis Ezarrington, summoned the Marquis of Clement Seawell.

And tell him that an undead army has appeared in the village of Rasmore, that a commercial guild could leap to help Luke.

"I want your lord to monitor the commercial guild. They're asking for a withdrawal from Luke and the lifting of economic sanctions. It's not like we can't take advantage of this demonic invasion to figure out what we don't want."

The Marquis understands "as you wish," but gives a slightly less confident look,

"But I was wondering how the Lockhart family would like to proceed on the assumption of defeat"

The Chancellor gives a surprise look.

"I hear it's a small village of less than a thousand people. There's nothing you can do."

"I was wondering if I could possibly carry it for a few days. I was well guarded when I visited two months ago…"

The Marquis talks about the walls of Kanga Hill and the air defense tower, and further explains that the strength of the Village of Rasmore vigilante will not be drawn to a first-class mercenary regiment.

"... If the knight under my command has a siege weapon, even thousands of soldiers will not fall easily. There is also Zacharias in that village. There's no one on the right to fight the Demons."

That's what I assured you.

"Speaking of Zacharias, it would be about my second son. Aren't you still fifteen or six kids?

Marquis nods loudly at the Chancellor's question,

"I remember last year, when I visited Wellburn, Lord Hubert said with certainty that he wanted to be his own right arm. With his magical arms hanging, he said plots, political tactics, military tactics, all of which are beyond his reach. That's where Lord Hubert bought it."

The Chancellor couldn't hide his surprise that Northern Governor Hubert Raswell Borderline Uncle appreciates that much. I'm buying the northern governor's abilities, and through the Marquis of Seawell, I'm also through the pulse.

"Hubert's that far..."

"This is my understanding, but perhaps this agreement with the Kingdom of Kaum was also conceived by him."

"No way. That's not true. That agreement was put out by the Kaum royal family. To strengthen our relationship with the Blacksmith Guild."

Exactly. Without it, I get a frightened face. But the Marquis did not change his expression,

"According to what my belly Ignacious Radford has confirmed, Queen Katrina is secretly visiting the village of Rasmore before that agreement is proposed. It has been confirmed that there was also a blacksmith guild master."

"There's that“ Queen Dwarf ”... it's possible. That queen would do anything to the benefit of her country. This time with the Blacksmith Guild is strengthened..."

So I cut the words and immerse myself in the thought.

(Construction of barrier and dispatch of Royal Kaum Army. If you think of these two together, they are perfectly consistent for the purpose of protecting Lockhart territory. I thought Kaum's march was to protect the Blacksmith Guild facility, but if that's just an excuse... he's replacing the archbishop's neck. You should come up with enough of that...)

The Chancellor nods, "Sure it's possible,"

"In any case, I saw how things were going at the suggestion of Lord Alexis. The next piece of information will tell you if your lord's right."

"You're right," the Marquis nods.

Then we talked about monitoring commercial guilds.

"Ask your lord for trouble, but it's hard to grasp the trends of the merchants. They don't have to do that."

I nodded to agree with the words, but immediately gave him a confident look.

"I was wondering if I could use a merchant going in and out of my house to get some information"

The Chancellor wondered how he would get the information. His perception is that the Marquis Seawell is politically and militarily powerless, because naturally the merchants entering and leaving are only small and medium-sized vendors.

"I heard there have been more deals with Glass Workshops lately, but did you get so many handouts?

"I don't have that many handouts yet," he said after saying no.

"We plan to produce distilled liquor in our territory. There are many merchants in my house who just smell it."

"Well, give me that distiller. Sir has no eyes either."

When the Chancellor says so with a laugh, "Not so much," he humbles himself.

"Some merchants who visit our homes are major chambers of commerce in the capital. They seem desperate to get the Aurelia merchants out on this occasion. I was wondering if it would be possible to get information if I poked it right."

"Then I leave it to Sir. Pay close attention to the movements of Lord Ingolslop and the merchants of Aurelia in particular."

"I'll take care of it," the Marquis nodded loudly.

Three days later, on the night of November 8, things changed dramatically.

New information arrived under the Chancellor.

"Whatever! The Lockhart family beat the undead by over 13,000!

"Definitely. This is a document from the government of the Kingdom of Kaum."

In the words of the decree, the secretary hands a thick seal with a wax seal on the crest of the Kingdom of Kaum.

When the Prime Minister confirmed that seal, it was accompanied by words of gratitude for sending soldiers to Lockhart territory under the agreement, and further for averting the crisis in the kingdom.

That was not all, it was even attached to the report of the commander of the rescue unit, Baron Roxbala.

That report even contains a breakdown of over thirteen thousand undead.

"... the Necromancer Rich and the Knight Without a Neck (Durahan) skeletons more than 10,000 each. Only 300 soldiers defeated the mysterious monster of the first degree. No, not peasants when it comes to vigilantes. I don't believe in Russia..."

The Chancellor complains as he looks at the reports he receives.

The secretary looks at the report and shakes his head sideways, grumbling, "There is no way I can believe such a report," he said. Then head to the Chancellor,

"Is there any possibility of a commercial guild plot? I thought it would be easier for them to acquire the baron of Kaum."

The Chancellor immediately denied the possibility.

"The Dwarves are going to the village as the Roxburgh Baron spilled false information. There may be some exaggeration, but it can't be total falsehood. And Queen Katrina accompanies the blacksmiths. There's no way you're gonna throw up a lie like that right away."

"But I can't believe it. What's more, it's Luke and the Commercial Alliance that are profitable in this case. It's more believable to assume that the commercial guild has turned its hand, because Luke will never do this hand trick."

"Sure, it's hard to believe, but commercial guilds can't hit a hand like this. They value their relationship with the Blacksmith Guild."

"Then he says this is the truth"

"That's the only way to think about it. I'll summon the elders tomorrow morning. Make arrangements by the end of the night."

The secretary lowered his head, "I accept," but the face remained unbelievable.

A meeting took place in the Senate the following morning. At the beginning of the meeting, when the Chancellor presented information from the Kingdom of Kaum, all the elders lost their words.

The Chancellor categorically denies it to Grand Duke Langton, "Isn't it Luke's ploy?"

"Luke has no interest. If you want to disrupt our country, you won't give us information about the Lockhart victory."

The Grand Duke nods to the word "sure," but doesn't show how convinced he is.

Even the famous Lord Ezarrington, as an intellectual general, was whining to himself, not to anyone, as if he had no room for that information.

"It's also hard to think of a ploy for Kaum. His country extends its gratitude to the Empire. If it was a ruse, we would have crusaded ourselves and sold our country our thanks."

Lord Ingolslop raised a sense of crisis when the withdrawal from Luke was stopped as it was,

"Isn't that a false alarm? There's no way a peasant vigilante can prevent a demon comparable to the army of a country."

The Prime Minister, in contrast,

"Marquis Seawell visited the Lockhart family about two months ago. Reports from him indicate that he has fortified city walls and that the vigilante's skill is superior to that of a first-class mercenary regiment. In addition, there are three good magicians in the land who are comparable to the chief court magicians. Marquis Seawell thought it might be possible to prevent this from happening."

Everyone can't hide their surprises in that word.

We all find it hard to believe, but we will need some response because the Kingdom of Kaum is sending us diplomatic documents that follow the official format on the official route.

The Chancellor looked around at the faces of all the

"The Demon invasion of Lockhart territory and the fact that it was prevented will have to be taken as a fact. On top of that, I would like to hold a consultation on the review of the anti-Luke strategy. Now that the Demon invasion has been prevented, I don't think it's necessary to withdraw."

The main warring Grand Duke of Langton, Lord Kendrew, gave his immediate approval, as did the neutral Lord Ezarrington.

Lord Ingolslop and Lord Gabiston, who supported the withdrawal, argued by saying that "the information is too uncertain", but soon the Grand Duke of Langton said, "If you mean that, the information on the demonic invasion is the same" and silenced.

"So, do you think the punishment for Luke is a continuation?"

All agreed, and the withdrawal from Luke was to be revoked.

"Next I would like to move on to a discussion about the treatment of the Lockhart family. I would suggest that the elementary post give the Lockhart family a Viscount."

There was no clear opposition to this proposal. Only Lord Ezarrington,

"In the unlikely event of a false alarm, His Majesty and the Senate will scratch their shame. I was wondering if I should check the information once before playing it to Your Majesty."

"That's the best opinion. Perhaps the Adventurer Guild and the Mercenary Guild should have similar information. I'm sure we'll make a formal decision after we confirm that."

Everyone agreed with the words, but Lord Ingolslop spoke.

"Isn't the title enough? Why not give it a treasure as a reward? I was wondering if it would be more profitable if you were a knight on the border."

Lord Ingolslop came up with the idea of taking the Lockhart family into the Crown Prince. For that reason, he tried to sell thanks by giving him treasure.

"No, I mentioned so many medals. How about I give you a sword over Your Majesty?"

Lord Gabiston made the same suggestion.

I suggested that the Grand Duke of Langton should give it the rank of official in a way that countered it.

"The Legion Leader would be difficult, but you'd better form a new Knights and name the Knights Leader"

But the Prime Minister denies any of them.

"I hear that Lockhart is moisturized by the sale of distilled liquor. Furthermore, he owns many of Drexler's master craftsmen and other prestigious artefacts. He said publicly that his people would not need a title or anything as long as they left the land. You don't want to create a knighthood and leave your territory."

The Chancellor had information on Masaias Lockhart from the Marquis of Seawell last night. The Marquis tells us that Masaias is clean and loves even more the village of Rasmore, the territory.

Lord Ingolslop thought the Chancellor was too attentive. Speak to the Chancellor after first disputing to the Grand Duke, "If you give him a good official position, you will foolishly think that it will set a precedent and affect him in the future".

"Just a knight up the Viscount. We need to be concerned. If you give it more immediately than your majesty, you'll be glad to weep."

Lord Ingolslop called Masaias to the Imperial Capital, and he was going to say that he was the one who proposed the prize on it.

The Chancellor also leans towards Lord Ingolslop's proposal that he will not be reluctant to receive the treasure.

So Lord Etherlington asked for the floor.

"I was wondering if I needed a territory worthy of it if I were to be a Viscount. Surely there must have been a city around there that would be Kilnarek. Why not give it there as a reward?"

The elders didn't know which city they meant when they heard of Kilnarek. The Chancellor had heard from Marquis Seawell and his belly Viscount Radford the day before, so he knew about the place and the current situation.

Lord Ezarrington will explain Kilnarek to the elders.

"Kilnarek is a fortified city close to the border with the Kingdom of Kaum, with a population of approximately three thousand and five hundred. I belong to the Raswell Border Border Bo Territory, but I also belong to an organization that names the Union of Urban States, just like Aurelia, and I was wondering if I would just pay taxes to the Border Bo Family."

The Chancellor punches Pong in the hand and raises his voice, "I can read Lord Ezarrington's thoughts," he said.

Grand Duke Langton doesn't know what that means and makes him look grumpy.

"Can you explain what this means?"

The Chancellor said, "I beg your pardon," and bowed his head,

"The cause of this Lukes march is the Raswell family, and also the untimely end of Aurelia..."

He said that Luke's interlocutors dressed as Aurelia merchants were responsible for this, and that the Ladswell Border House was unable to prevent the confusion.

Punishment shall be imposed on Aurelia by returning the trading cities belonging to the Union of Urban States to noble territory, and on the Raswell family by taking up territories which are sources of income.

"... which means a way to cut the power of both the Borderline House and Aurelia."

In response to the Prime Minister's explanation, Lord Ingolslop, who was strongly connected to the commercial guild, tried to disagree, but was hammered in the arm by the same Crown Prince, Lord Gabiston, and did not raise his words.

Prince Leoporto, on the other hand, damages the Aurelia, or Commercial Guild, and further shrinks the power of the Northern Governor's Office, "I agree with Lord Ezzarington's proposal," Grand Duke Langton agrees in a good mood.

As soon as the information on the prize for the Lockhart family was finalized, he was to advise the Emperor on the "Shigeru" to the Viscount. With the Viscount, Kilnarek and surrounding villages are given as new territories, but there were no alternatives to the form of Raswell Border Uncle being deprived of territory.

Lord Ingolslop stuffed Lord Gabiston after the meeting was over.

"Ezarrington's proposal would cut the power of a commercial guild. Why did your lord agree?"

whereas Lord Gabiston kept grinning,

"You'd think the Alliance would be better off as a country grower than being cowed by that cutter Hubert Raswell, too. What's more, you just have to take in Lockhart. Don't you think it would be more convenient not to get information out that you disagreed?"

"I see. That's true. If we disagree there, our impression will be bad. He said he took it into account."

Both Lord Gabiston and Lord Ingolslop believed that the Lockhart family was a civilian uprooted countryman and would gladly shake their tails if they gave them territory and gold. This was the same for the Grand Duke of Langton and others, who thought that they would soon be overwhelmed just by making them smell like they were being favoured.

Around the same time Lord Ingolslop and Lord Gabiston were talking, the Chancellor, Lord Feelobisher and Lord Ezarrington, were colluding in separate rooms.

"That went well," the Duke of Alexis Ezarrington laughed, and the Chancellor nodded satisfactorily, "thanks to Lord Alexis," too.

"I've decided not to talk to Hubert, but I'm sure he'll agree."

The Chancellor and Lord Ezarrington were discussing their future response the day before.

Kilnarek has become an imperial enclave and is difficult to manage. The Borderline House was also unable to be actively involved simply because it received a certain amount of tax a year. Assuming we try to manage Kilnarek directly, it's because we need to send officials and troops from the Borderline Uncle family.

But placing troops in Kilnarek, where the northern governor, the border uncle, is an enclave, will inspire the Kingdom of Lax. As a borderline uncle, it was just a territory, and it was actually a city I didn't want to be involved in.

There would be no more income from taxes, but it was not a huge sum for a borderline uncle family with vast territory, and the only place where obligations would arise if there were such as this invasion of demons was a heavy burden.

"Hubert originally wanted to let go. Legally give way to Lockhart, the bringer. I can see you happy."

"But your Excellency is also a bad person. I hope it's a punishment for the Raswells, plus we need to accept any protests from the Raswells... Kukuk. Your Eminence and Lord Ingolslop believed in it."

"No, I mean it. I'm not willing to accept any kind of protest. Of course, I don't expect Hubert to protest seriously."

The Chancellor intended to communicate their intentions to the Raswell Borderline Uncle through the Marquis of Seawell, and the Borderline Uncle had asked them to protest. But it was only a form, a pose to those who endangered the peripheral uncle.

"I don't know who I'll send into Lockhart later, but it's still Radford."

"Right. I don't think I'm going to say no, but we need to make sure you understand our intentions. Radford would be a good fit."

"They say there's good liquor and food in that village. I think he's going for it. Fuhahahaha!"

The two dukes laughed loudly.

Two days later, on November 10, the third newspaper arrived in Imperial Capital. The third newspaper was information transmitted by the Adventurer's Guild, which officially admitted that the Lockhart family had driven the undead.

That officially determined the Viscount to the Viscount of the Lockhart family.
