Dream Life

Episode 25: The City of Seawell

Around 3pm on January 27th.

We arrived in the city of Seawell, the territorial capital of the Marquis of Seawell.

The city of Seawell is a fortified city in the heart of a basin surrounded by low mountains and hills. On the west side of the city, the Sewell River flows, and as soon as you cross the bridge, there is a castle gate.

The population adds up to about 10,000 people in the surrounding towns, but the city itself is a relatively small town with a population of about 4,000. Of those four thousand, a thousand are Imperial Army policing units, so there are only about three thousand citizens.

The characteristic thing about this city is that most of the hills that surround it are vineyards. Some vineyards make vegetables, but the impression is strong that the city is surrounded by vineyards to the extent that it is slightly visible around the settlement between the hills.

Is it land with a lot of wind, windmills spinning around on the hills? If the season were a little better, it would be a lush hill, but the tree with the leaves falling gives it a chilly feel.

Marquis Seawell's story says this kind of landscape continues along the Seawell River, which was flowing along the streets.

When I walked into Seawell City, I felt a hint of grape. Looking out the window, many tables were served along the road, and there were many working-like people leaning on goblets with red wine.

It's a time when new liquor has just been made, and they're behaving like festivals.

When they saw the flag with the Seawell Marquis family crest, they immediately stood up and said, "Hail, Marquis!," or "Cheers to the Marquis!," he said and welcomed with a goblet.

Their expressions are bright and they can be seen welcoming from the bottom of their hearts. It would be proof that the Marquis is ruling well.

The city of Seawell is also an accomodation town on Langton Avenue, the main street, with streets running east and west of the city. Seawell Castle, the Marquis' castle, is located northwest from the center of the city, trampling the design of the Empire's standard fortified city.

When we get to the castle, the Marquis, who was getting off the carriage first, says, "Welcome to Seawell" and hangs the words of welcome.

Behind the Marquis were his family and ministers, three of whom he saw.

Two of them are persons who visited the village of Rasmore with Viscount Radford last March. One is a civilian named Ledley Sutherland, a person who looks at home affairs in general under Viscount Radford. The other is introduced in Bernard Darnton as a candidate for the head of the distillery.

The third is Jonas, the son of the Marquis of Seawell. A boy who got drunk last year at a prom after his brother Rodrick's wedding ceremony and tangled up in Beatrice. It's taller than it was then and feels more grown-up than it used to be.

I got a slightly nervous look as to whether Beatrice got into my eyes. I guess he remembered his father's words that he would not quit abolition either.

Me and Beatrice will smile and exchange greetings, pretending not to notice his expression.

The evening training will continue as usual that day and will be a dinner hosted by the Marquis of Seawell.

The Lockhart family was the only one for dinner at the Duke of Ezarrington's house, but even squire and vigilante members are invited this time around.

The Marquis Seawell family side on the inviting side is also attended by about thirty key ministers, including Viscount Radford and Viscount Sutherland, in addition to the Marquis, his son-in-law Jonas and two still young courtiers. Furthermore, the knights of the Knights of Ezarrington are also present, with nearly eighty.

Even this number of people does not feel cramped because it is a large hall that allows more than a hundred people. But I was surprised that there would be such a massive banquet.

(I suppose the significance of the welcome to the Duke's Warrant is strong, but I suppose the intention is also to show the relationship between the Seawell family and the Lockhart family. I feel like a big deal for that...)

When we get to our seats, the Marquis Clement Seawell rises.

"Tonight is the welcoming feast of Lord Laurencia Ezzalington, Lord Primrose Ezzalington, and Sir Masaias Lockhart and his family. Let's have some fun without the hassle of courtesy!

That said, I offer a goblet with red wine.

"Here's to His Majesty the Emperor and the Empire!" And he shall raise up his cup, and all shall summon to it.

It was declared a rude banquet, but it was not cheap at all.

It was a wine region of fame and prepared dishes and liquor just to roar with the supper of the prestigious Marquis Seawell family.

Even more handy, this number of attendees will be served precisely with food and liquor.

The food is made from local ingredients, and it feels like there is a lot of beef and root vegetables. In addition, there are many gut-based dishes and many wines are used in cooking.

Before the feast began, our vigilante was nervous about the Marquis family dinner party and said, "Are you okay? We don't know the manners of dinner parties," he said, "but it seems that the neighborhood is also considered, and the servants and vigilantes, except Sims and Dan, were served a large plate like a banquet in the village. For this reason, the vigilantes are reassured that they are as usual, and the hardness before they begin is removed.

(You're a good entertainer. Is this an instruction from Master Ignacious?

Viscount Ignacious Radford had entered and exited three taverns and lodgings in the village of Lasmore, the Black Pond "Black Ruff" pavilion, the distiller "Potstill" pavilion and the liquor barrel "Cask" pavilion, where both villagers interacted.

The Viscount himself has not yet returned from the Imperial Capital, but I guess he gave such instructions from that experience.

My father and Marquis Seawell are grinning and my mother is nervously talking to the Marquis. The Marquise's name is Mildred, she looks about her mother's age. The chestnut hair and slightly plump shape created a soft atmosphere, and the constant smile made my mother gradually break it down as well.

Next to the Marquis sits Victoria, the Viscountess of Radford.

She has luxurious honey-colored hair, white skin like white magnet, pale eyes like a slightly fish-eyed sapphire, and is a beauty with a smooth model-like style. I get a cold impression at first sight because of my fair skin and pale eyes. It's just that the Marquise is sure she trusts her.

Before my obliqueness, the Lawrencians and the Duke's Lady sat down and drummed their tongues on the dish. It's completely unraveled on the road to Seawell, and Primrose asks, "What is this dish made of?," he asked, "or while Laurencia tilted the wine too," What about this combination? I've been saying. "

"You're going to make us all interested in cooking and drinking when we're with you," Liddy laughed.

"You're absolutely right. I didn't think I'd be so interested in food either," Beatrice nods.

"Right, sister," Primrose tells Laurencia.

"My sister wasn't really interested in cooking until a while ago. Talking about something sweet, something that was always scolded, huffy."

"Oh, is that so?" Laurencia tries to delude herself, but as soon as a new dish comes out, her consciousness was right over there.

(Don't think it's the truth that if you eat something delicious, it will be peaceful. I think it would be more so with good liquor......)

Mel and Sharon are surrounding the table with Theophilus and the others. There Luna was with me, eating with a brighter look than I thought.

The dinner ended that day with a soothing atmosphere.

The following January 28th.

This morning we were supposed to go on a tour of the vineyards and wine breweries in the nearby villages.

Finish your morning training and leave the city of Seawell around 9 a.m.

Today's guide is the candidate for the head of the distillery, Darunton, who just won't be accompanied by Marquis Seawell himself.

That's him, but he seemed nervous in the morning.

After saying hello, "I seem nervous," he asked lightly.

"When I think about acting for Lord Radford, that's all that makes me feel heavier. I have been instructed, in particular, to listen to Sir Zacharias on the improvement of the quality of wine, so that…"

I have the impression that I am a serious civilian with a thin line originally, but as I talk, I realize that my face is so blue that I can see it.

"I'm an amateur about winemaking. Of course, I have some knowledge of long-term aging, but I really don't know anything about fields or breweries."

I say that with care, but from the side, Liddy says, "Are you the amateur? No one will believe you," so Darunton blues even more.

I tell her with my eyes not to say anything extra, but she looks strange.

And Beatrice said, "You are called the son of a liquor god. You'd better be a little more conscious," he slaps me on the back, chasing me.

"I will always tell Master Ignacious what I feel at a later date. Why don't you think of it like that today?"

You were a little relieved by my words, and I snorted loudly and got in the carriage.

The terrain around here, but the city of Seawell is in the heart of a basin consisting of hilly areas. The river Sewell penetrates the basin as it hangs from north to southwest to arc. The Seawell River is not a great river like the Fatas or Fannell Rivers, but it is a water-rich river of Japanese primary river size that flows like a serpentine between the hills.

However, the bridge is only near the city of Seawell, and the east and west of Seawell territory are divided by rivers. That's why there's no big town, there's just the countryside all the time. Because of its small population, there are roads connecting villages in the north-south direction of Seawell territory, but they are not so well maintained as streets.

The vineyards were spread over hills along the Seawell River.

Although the Marquis of Seawell territory has a territory of twenty kilometres east and west and fifty kilometres north and south, it seems that development has not progressed because it is a soil unsuitable for the production of cereals such as wheat. Because of this, we can't see it from here, but there are no villages at the end of the vineyard just because of the wilderness and woods.

Today's destination is Widial Village, about a kilometer north of the city of Seawell.

Sometimes the reason this village was chosen is close, but because it grows not only wine but also vegetables that supply the city of Seawell, the roads are relatively well developed, making it easier to travel by carriage.

I didn't really care if it was just us, but with Laurencia and the others, it looks like Dalungton cared.

The members of the Lockhart family will be accompanied by Zach Sextet and Theo and Serra, Sophia's sisters and even Luna. Parents and brothers are not accompanied because they greet the key ministers of Marquis Seawell.

The escort was also only to be accompanied by three from the Lockhart family from the vigilante, to be protected by the Knights of Ezarrington and Seawell.

There is no need for escorts if we are here, as the area is most secure and there will be no demons or bandits.

Incidentally, the vigilantes accompany them not so much for escorts, but for the development of agriculture after their return to the village. Because they are excellent soldiers as well as peasants.

It's still a carriage ride with the Laurencians today, but because my mother isn't around, Liddy and Sharon are riding instead. Plus Viscount Radford's Victoria, and I'll be surrounded by five aged women in a six-passenger carriage. By the way, Sophia is riding Beatrice's horse, which she misses most, because she doesn't have a mother.

The reason Sharon is on board is because Laurencia liked him and nominated him. Mel was also nominated, but he refuses to ride the horse with Luna.

You didn't tell me why Liddy was on it, but somehow I knew. You said you haven't had much time with me lately, so I guess you want to be with me.

The carriage window is fully open due to the beautiful weather today and the wind not so cold. As a result, you have a good view outside.

As soon as you leave the castle gate of the city of Seawell, the vineyard spreads and sighs at its size.

The fields are lined with rows of vines planted at equal intervals and look like beautiful geometries. I guess it would be more beautiful in a lush summer, not in the middle of winter, but still never tired of seeing rows of vines flowing through the carriage windows. There were also vast vineyards in the Duke's territory of Ezarrington, but they had never lined up so nicely.

"You're well cared for," he tells Victoria.

"Yeah, because it was made by my ancestors with their hands in it. It's an old tree, and some of them have been around for over a hundred years."

I felt a little cold yesterday, but when I talk, the way I talk is soft, and makes me smile a lot. Even more unexpectedly, a lady named Viscount, she knew her vineyards well.

When I point that out,

"I remember naturally with my husband. I love delicious wines, too, and it's more fun not to worry about being in Seawell or Radford than being in Imperial Capital. Ho ho ho..."

Viscount Radford said it was east of the Seawell Marquis and close to the Grand Duke of Langton, a land where grape production flourished just as it did around Seawell. However, there are also many lands suitable for the cultivation of wheat, and the crops to be made are diverse and transported to the city of Seawell.

"I, Me, was looking forward to seeing Sir Zacharias. I'm the one who made that aged Seawell wine, and I was wondering what miracle you could show me this time."

I smiled bitterly at the words and replied, "You can't do a miracle or anything."

"Alas, that wine is nothing but a miracle. Because there is no drink that makes you feel happy just because it's in your mouth."

"It's because of the potential (potential) that Seawell wines have. I just helped with it."

My thoughts on long-running wines are just as I said. No matter how you apply a wine without potential, you can't get as much flavor and aroma.

"If that's what you said, how about sparkling wine? I was captivated by that wine, too. I think it's something new that's never happened before?

Viscount Radford probably has a lot of influence, but Victoria, besides her thoughts, was a wine lover. I've even ridden Liddy to her words like that.

"Right. I think so, too. I think that sparkling wine is the greatest thing you've ever done."

Talking about that, I've even joined Primrose.

"I think the most miraculous thing about Zacharias is the invention of the cold treat Gelato. That's what captivates women in the Imperial City. Of course, me too..."

I think I've done a lot of other things, but when people say booze and cooking is the best, it just dimples a little.

(I lowered infant mortality and industrial development... well, I was tempted because distilled liquor and sparkling wine sometimes worked for me...)

All I could do was laugh bitterly.
