Dream Life

Lesson 35: Shopping for Luna

The morning of January 29th.

I'm supposed to be looking around the city of Seawell today with Mr Beatrice, Mr Mel and Mr Sella. The squire Luke seems to be with them, but it meant more baggage holding than escorts.

Sure, Mr. Beatrice and Mr. Mel are stronger than the Lukes, so I don't think they're escorts. The two of them still have weapons today, but shopping inside the relatively safe city of Seawell means they're not wearing protective gear that you can see from the outside.

"Do you want to go somewhere," Mr. Beatrice asked us. Answer in the form represented by Ms Serra.

"I don't know what it is, so I'll leave it to Sister Beatrice and Sister Mel. That's fine with Luna."

I'm only saying yes because I'm not sure either. I still can't speak well, so I can't say anything more.

"Well, go to the commercial district and see it appropriately, then lunch somewhere."

Everyone nodded at Mr. Beatrice's suggestion and decided where to go.

I'm walking, this trip? I was remembering that it was.

It's all incredible since I left the village of Rasmore. In Ars he went to the real Royal Palace, and in Ezarrington he wore a beautiful dress and attended the Duke's Supper.

The Duke felt noble to see, and Lady Laurencia and Primrose felt like princesses.

I've always wondered what a misplaced place I am.

But the Dwarves' banquet was different. Those guys really seem to enjoy drinking and singing. I had so much fun being caught and laughing by accident, too.

Besides, nobody cares about me. Everyone in the Lockhart family is sweet, but treats me like I touch even the swelling.

Of course I don't know.

Everyone I know, as opposed to my parents, was killed, so I think I did the same thing in the opposite position.

But the Dwarf blacksmiths were completely different. Sometimes you don't know what's going on, but you're like, "Are you eating right? He said," Take the dishes, "he said," Well, the banquet of Nong Ra, gahaha, "and laughed luxuriously, and it looks like he really enjoys it.

I've never had alcohol when I was in Japan or since I came here, but I think it would be fun to have a banquet like this.

I think I blew it off a little because of those guys. If I told you this, it would be bad for all the Lockhart families who helped me and still take care of me.

It's been fun since I left Ezarrington.

Mr. Mel, maybe it's because you let Mr. Sharon's horse ride you.

I've never thought riding a horse would be fun. I know it would be more fun if I could ride alone, but now it's just enough fun to get me on. My butt hurts a little, though.

It was just fun after Seawell.

I also enjoyed going to a nearby village and eating while watching the fields, but it's best that I made wine jelly with Mr. Zach yesterday.

I was surprised that there was gelatin in this world as well, but the most pleasant thing was that the two of us made jelly.

Mr. Zach is really someone who can do anything, and his sword is amazing and his magic is amazing. I've been thinking a lot about cooking, and they say alcohol is the best thing in the world, and I thought there was something I couldn't do.

Someone like that invited me to make wine jelly with him, but at first I wondered if there was anything I could do to help.

But I noticed it as soon as I started making it. This guy says he's never made jelly. At least now I know I've never used Plate Gelatin.

Because I didn't have enough at all. If I ever made it, somehow, I think I could tell by adding and subtracting thickness, and the way it tasted was a little strange. Something that will never solidify if you add so much lemon juice.

I guess the best way is to foam raw cream. It wouldn't be enough whip for a corner to stand if I didn't mix it a little more daringly, because I mixed it very carefully.

Unexpectedly, so much so that I said, "You should be bolder".

If I was blurry thinking about that, I'd be laughing before I knew it. I realized that, because Mel asked me if it was a good thing, so I realized it for the first time.

"No," I replied.

I really wanted to talk to you, but I couldn't because Mr. Mel is Mr. Zach's fiancée.

Because I felt somewhat bad that I enjoyed cooking with Mr. Zach. If I was cooking for fun with my own fiancée and another woman, I might be jealous. But I guess they don't care if I say it because I'm an eleven year old.

About twenty minutes after I left Seawell Castle, I got to what is known as the Commercial District.

Still, it's about 10 a.m., so if it was Japan, it would be enough time for the store to start opening. I'm not sure because I have suspicious memories recently when I was in Japan.

But even at this hour most of the shops were open. I haven't called in because it's not an open-air market, but I can hear a bright voice coming from inside the store.

"What shall I see? Mel, what are you gonna do?

Mel said, "Right,"

"I'm thinking about buying something for Master Zach and going home. So I'd like to see something like a knob."

"Right. Well, let's get into a store that smells good."

Mr. Beatrice is a tiger beast and has a very good nose.

It changes the story, but it was strange at first that there were beastmen only in the story. I have real beast ears over my head, and my tail grows. But when we talk, we're just like normal people.

I wasn't interested in cosplay or anything, but it was so real that I thought if someone I liked saw it, they'd be so excited. Well, it's real.

Being the only one in the story, there are elves and dwarves, but I guess the impact is beastman the best.

Elves have Mr. Lydia, but I just have the impression that she's a very pretty person. Yeah, I guess I get the impression you like alcohol.

I also have the image of the Dwarves as uncles who love alcohol, with arms like Marutai, short and bearded. So maybe you think the Beast Man looks most fantastic.

But on second thought, Mr. Beatrice liked alcohol, too. How come everyone in this world likes alcohol?

With that in mind, Mr. Beatrice stopped in front of a store.

"Sounds like a good place. It smells like oil and spice. There's definitely something delicious."

I feel it somehow when you ask me, but I have no idea if there is anything delicious to the extent that it smells like spice because the door is closed.

I go inside, making a doorbell sound called Karan Karan.

As Mr. Beatrice had said, it was full of mixed aromas of nutmeg, cinnamon, pepper and other spices.

It feels dim at first because there is no windowsill, but as my eyes got used to it, I could see the store illuminated with lighted magic props. Looks like there's a lot of spices lined up on the wall.

"Welcome. Looking for something?

A guy about fifty years old with mixed gray hair talked to me. Looks like this guy's the shopkeeper.

"We're travelers from the north, but what do we have here? I'm looking for something rare that might be a booze knob or something that I can use to cook."

With the shopkeeper smiling,

"Our shop deals mainly with olive oil and spices, so it's all you can use for cooking. Is that a knob that I think is rarer in the north...... right. How about this..."

That's what I've been saying and putting out little bits.

"It's an oil pickle from Langton's eagle (Sardine), but it goes well with white wine and beer."

Open the lid while that's good.

Inside was a golden oil filled with small fish that glistened just as golden with laurel leaves (Laurier).

"It's also in Imperial Capital and Ezarrington, but the eastern side of the Wale Peninsula, especially the Langton stuff, is said to taste best..."

Mr. Beatrice snarled his nose and said, "This guy looks like he should. I'll take about five," he says instantly.

I thought if I had oil sardines, I might have another boar processed.

"Anchovy...... do you have any fermented caterpillars?

The shopkeeper said, "Yes, I do," and brought a small one from the back.

"You smell unusual," Mr. Beatrice murmured, "What is it you use for?" Mel asked.

"I think it will be a seasoning. It should have tasted better when I used it for stir-frying or something..."

That's all I said, and I wondered how they would know that.

The village of Thysek I grew up in is the same inland as the village of Rasmore. That's also a long way off the streets, a despicable place where no merchants come either. Both Mr. Beatrice and Mr. Mel know about it, so I thought you'd wonder.

But neither of us noticed that, "That's exciting," he says, "Master Zach would know, so let's ask him how he would use it".

"Shall I get some of that too," Mr. Beatrice said, "I'm going to buy it.

How could you not wonder hooked me up, but soon I forgot about it and became obsessed with shopping.

Another store bought sweets with Serra.

"Hey, what does Luna buy?" Serra asked.

I don't have a personality at all with her, but I kind of feel like it.

Mel or Sharon have the image of a sister, but Sella feels like a friend she can hang out with at will.

It's somewhat odd that I'm a former high school student being friends with an 11-year-old, a 6th grade or so, but the people in this world, no, they're not, because I feel the Lockhart family are more adult than the Japanese, I don't think they're odd on their own.

"I thought I'd buy a treat that would go with tea..."

I bought a pound cake with a little stiff macaroon-like treat and raisins, listening to a lot of people at the store.

"It's not just wine around here, but raisins are a specialty," the store guy told me.

Both are treats with a rustic feel, but the price was pretty good if the ingredients were expensive. But the two pieces of silver that Zach gave me were enough.

If I showed you this, I wonder what Mr. Zach would say. I wonder if you'd be happy. If I had thought about that, I would have smiled a little again.

Sella said, "Shopping is fun," so maybe it is.

With that said, it was the first time I had spent money from this world. There was only barter in the village of Thysek, and even in the village of Rasmore there was no spending of money in Kanga Hill.

Even on this journey I never went shopping before, which means I was born in this world for the first time.

It's a silver coin, but it's about twice the size of a 500-yen ball, and it's about four or five times thick. I guess it feels like a medal for a competition.

They can stay in a good hotel with a single piece of silver coin, so it would be more than 20,000 yen if they offered you a small allowance. Maybe closer to an old ball than a penny.

After returning to the castle, Mr. Zach came to see me.

"Beatrice told me you found me anchovies. Thank you. I totally forgot it existed."

That's what Mr. Zach said and stroked my head.

"With that, knob variations increase at once. I knew I needed some fermented seasoning. By the way, they also bought confectionery, but what kind of stuff did you buy?

While I take out the treats,

"It's a pound cake with macarons and raisins..."

I still can't talk to Mr. Zach well.

Mr. Zach laughed at me nicotine as he watched the treat.

"Right. Sounds good for a cup of tea. Whoa! This macaroon is going to fit brandy."

I thought I was going to make it a pinch of alcohol, and I smiled unexpectedly.

Then I drank tea before the evening training.

Today was tea, not the usual herbal tea. It's because I make tea in the south of the empire, but it seems to be very expensive.

"They're both delicious. Especially this pound cake. If I leave it for another day or two, the flavor might be more familiar..."

Mr. Zach was drinking tea satisfactorily.

I wish I could talk a little more properly, wrapped in a nice scent of tea.
