Dream Life

Lesson 54: Stuffing

The morning of February 11th.

Visiting the Chancellery first thing in the morning, we were taken to the Chancellor's office, Lord Feelobisher. And soon the meeting with the Prime Minister began.

The first topic concerned the undead that struck the village of Rasmore, only to receive attention to the handling of information.

At the end of it, I've suddenly cut to the point.

"The Lockhart family boasts of their relationship with the Blacksmith Guild and exercises unworthy power. Let me know if you have anything to say about that."

My father answered the question to squeeze it out.

"We cannot grasp the meaning of your question"

"Don't you see," the Chancellor says, glancing at us with cold gray eyes.

"The Dwarves of the Blacksmith Guild visited here the other day. At that time, the Imperial Chancellor made demands on this non. If the Empire triumphs over the Lockhart family, we must leave the Empire. If you don't like that, hit me with your hand. We know that one Lockhart official is chewing on this matter. Still don't know?"

I'm never absurd of my voice, but every word of it pierces our hearts like an ice blade.

"If that's the case, it's all on me. We will also accept such dispositions."

That's what my father says and bows his head big. We bowed our heads to it.

Shortly afterwards, the sound of a tap on a table called a van sounds.

"You think you can dispose of that at this time of year! I guess I'm not keeping such a special mouth to myself in anticipation of what I can't do!

Further reprimands of the Chancellor continue.

"If we lead tens of thousands of undead to annihilate them all with only 300 peasants, and hear that the village that just leaned down the street is being attacked by 5,000 goblins, we go and exorcise them. You think you can dispose of such a hero! If you dispose of it, Nong's political life will be over! You know that and you're saying it!

"Yes, no, that's not true!

"But the chivalrous chivalrous charm of a civilian answers!

We could only bow our heads deeper.

What the Prime Minister is saying is unreasonable to us, but it is not wrong.

At a time when rumors of the Lockhart family are sweeping the Imperial Capital, he himself will be taken as narrow if he disposes of it just because he said he pissed off the Chancellor.

If the story spreads that the Dwarves did not stop thinking of us and acted, the political opponents plot to pull down the Chancellor.

Commercial guilds in particular should move aggressively because they have been simmering water over and over again.

"I'm asking you to show me your sincerity!

My father was completely atrophied by the Chancellor's sword curtain.

In the first place, tension was forced by the fact that the Emperor was second only to the Emperor.

I managed to answer the first question to appease it, because I was suddenly outraged.

I'm not as atrophic as my father, holding back, but I'm still nervous.

The Chancellor says he can't dispose of it, but that's not actually true. It will be precisely ten days or so before the people of Imperial Capital thrive on the topic of Lockhart. After that period, disposing after a bad review is not as difficult if you have as much power as he does.

In other words, the Chancellor will have everything we need to kill.

I'm just uncomfortable with what he says and does.

As far as the rumors are concerned, the Chancellor is a sober politician and has full control not only of the elders but also of the bureaucracy.

A person who leaves himself to a temporary emotion to explode cannot turn the politics of a great power for more than twenty years. I was wondering if it might be an act to get some fruit.

My father is now denied being disposed of by the imperial government, including by dying of his own life.

All we can do to the Lockhart family in this situation is give it to a party of prime ministers, but we can't say that.

(You should say it's time to join the neutrals. My current father is going to jump right away...)

If I could reach out where I was cornered, I'd want to grab it by accident. I suspect you're after that.

"You'll be the Viscount of the Empire. You can exercise that power for the Empire in accordance with the law."

I've told you to be your own child.

"If it is truly for the Empire, I will risk my life to serve His Majesty the Emperor"

The Chancellor says nothing to my father's answer.

"As an Imperial Knight, our Lockhart family does not hate death if it is for His Majesty and the people. However, it never confers on a power struggle that would leave its roots in the future of the Empire. We will not obey such orders even if our lives are exhausted."

My father clearly said so.

At this moment, I forgot the situation before the Chancellor and was moved by the integrity of my father.

The opponent has the power to wipe us out easily if he so wills. If it were for the Empire personally, it would do it without moving one eyebrow.

I hit an honest argument head-on against such a person. It is also not out of an unfounded sense of justice, but only one point: to protect this country and this world.

"Hehe..." the Chancellor began to laugh.

"I really wanted to add that person to my manpower, Masaias."

My father is bewildered by the galaric and unusual atmosphere.

"This is not the first time anyone has thrown up an honest argument so far from the front on this non. Rodrick, Zacharias. Then you have a father."

"Ha! Thank you for your words," my brother replies.

"If you have such a shabby heart, you deserve Lord Alexis' assistant. Why don't you stay in Imperial City? Prepare a chair for the Imperial Army Headquarters. Well, let's not wait five years and promise the Legion Leader status."

I can't hide my surprise at that condition.

There are twenty legions in the empire, whose commanders are listed among the senior nobles. In other words, they're going to make you count within five years.

This HR, though unusual, is not unprecedented.

The Reich's Legion Leader can be a civilian as long as he has the strength. In fact, there have been a number of instances in the long history of the Empire where civilians have become Legion Leaders.

I'm afraid of this ingenious solicitation.

Cause alarm, intimidate, and praise before soliciting by showing adequate reward.

If they did this series of combos, the normal ones would snort. No, I know this far. Even I could snort if I could do it.

(Again, don't be insulted, the Chancellor. But I wonder what your father intends to do. I hope you don't answer me on this occasion......)

The answer was quickly obtained.

"With disproportionate words, I would fool you to think that your proposal would not be for the Empire. I'm a bad explainer, so let me explain it to you from my second son, Zacharias."

That's what he told me.

Suddenly, I'm surprised, but as a father, it must have been a bitter measure. Surely I'm more confident that I can get through this better than my father explains.

But if the Chancellor doesn't allow it, I don't have a say.

"I'm sure you're not dissatisfied with this condition. Come on, Zacharias, let me tell you something about my father."

I said, "Ha!," he answered, bowing his head wide once, slowly raising his face.

"There are several reasons. First of all, my father, Masaias, is an Imperial Knight, but has never belonged to the Imperial Regular Army. If such a person enters the centre of the Imperial Army, it is more obvious than to see fire that it will produce unwanted greetings. If there is a major problem with the military, I suppose that would be nice, but I would fool you into thinking that you don't need to throw a stone at the Imperial Army today that calls for big ripples..."

The Chancellor looked at me quietly and said, "Uhm. Keep going," he urged.

"It's the second, but my father has never held the command of the army. Even in this battle of the undead, my grandfather, Govan, was in command. Putting the unproductive on top of the hierarchy will set a bad precedent…"

So I breathe, I look at the Chancellor, but I don't say anything just staring at this one.

"For the third reason, we heard that we will be visiting the city of Kilnarek. As you know, the city of Kilnarek is a member of the Union of Urban States. In other words, it is a city strongly influenced by commercial guilds. Leaving the territory for a long period of time could also give the commercial guild a clearance."

"Isn't that all you have to do if you do? Fine. Keep going."

"Ha. Now, for the fourth reason, we are in good relations not only with the Kaum royal family, but also with the city of Periclitle. For this reason, it is possible to obtain information on Pericritle and even the Doctus and Lax kingdoms that lie ahead. If the Empire obtains information on the eastern and northern parts of the continent of Tria, it will only come from those obtained by the Office of the Governor of the North or via the hands of the merchants of Aurelia. Regardless of the Northern Governor's Office, the information over the color glasses (filters) called Aurelia will be questioned in terms of reliability. With that in mind, I consider it advantageous, also in terms of countercommercial guild, that we regularly circulate to His Excellency the Marquis of Seawell the information we have obtained on Als Street and that His Excellency the Duke of Ezarrington receives it"

My mouth dries because I spoke all at once.

"For the fifth reason, but also in your earlier question, the trend of undead is unclear. If, given the existence of an undead country and the fact that it will once again cross the Aquila Mountains, we consider the situation of the absence of a lord to be dangerous. Fortunately, my grandfather is alive, but he is already sixty years old and old as a samurai, and my brother is still immature as a commander. Considering the same scale of invasion as this one, I think we should avoid the absence of Father Masaias."

"You can either assist me or take command. Lord Alexis tells me you're a good soldier."

"Say what you say," I argue.

"In battle the commander is also the home of the soldiers' hearts and minds. Commanders are expected to inspire soldiers and draw more than a dozen powers than actual battles. It is more desirable to be superior to martial arts and military, but more than that it is required to be trusted by the soldiers. In that regard, I think my brother and I are powerless."

So the Chancellor nodded,

"That's the best thing to say. Let's not enroll Masaias in the army."

There's going to be a breath of relief in that word. But the Chancellor was not the kind of person to forgive to that extent.

"Then if it was, it wouldn't be a problem. Masaias takes command of the whole thing and Rodrick wields martial arts on the front line. I hear there are many good warriors under Lockhart. This will suffice. Moreover, the fortified city becomes a territory at this time. Even if the undead pushed by as much as this one, we could buy time if we let Kilnarek evacuate us. Reinforcements are coming from Kaum and Periclitle. No matter how good a magician he is, there's no reason why he should be."

This was also the question I expected.

"As much as you say, I know the dark attribute magic against the demons, especially the Winged Demons, I am the best. In fact, we are also preventing the agitation of the Double Shadow Demon (Doppelgenger) in this battle. That's not all. I specialize in earthly attribute magic. This is also a finding, but I can assure you that magicians of earthly attributes are indispensable for ambush and escape in the Battle of the Castle."

"I see. I thought you were going to call me about making distilled liquor, but did you come?"

The Chancellor flashed his face slightly pleasantly, but quickly turned his sharp gaze to me.

"Then we shall send the court magician to Lockhart territory. That would have dispelled my concerns."

I didn't expect you to come with those hands. Therefore, the answer is slightly delayed. Poking through that gap, the Chancellor has proposed even more.

"Let's send some particularly good court magicians, too. It may be difficult to be a magician without a faint color, but if you send three or so magicians, the problem will be solved."

"I thank you for your excessive words," he says, bowing his head greatly. The upset between my father and my brother came through.

"Oh, you're joining my subordination."

"Yes, I'm not a genius, thank you"

The Chancellor opens his eyes thinly and looks to explore. I guess you didn't think I'd admit it so easily.

"However, I only have one favor to ask you"

"Bye. Fine, let me know."

"As for the sorcerer to be seconded to Lockhart territory, I would like to identify his abilities. Whatever it takes to replace me. If the overall capability was inferior, it would involve not only the Lockhart family, but also Als Street and hence the safety of the Empire."

"Give me the terms specifically. I'm not convinced you need unlimited abilities."

That's what the Prime Minister says and stares at, but he will state the terms with a flat face.

"You need at least forty dark attribute levels and fifty earth attribute levels and above. You will also need a level of swordsmanship that will protect you even if you are ambushed by the Winged Demons. My level is over forty, but it is self-defense, so I think level twenty would suffice. Of course, that will not be enough and will require just the knowledge and ability to go into the woods to explore the traces of the Demons. with them will be the least necessary."

The sound of a bang slamming the table again sounds.

"Don't bullshit me! There can't be such a person in court magicians! Now that you know it, you're telling me!

I put all my spiritual strength into that intimidation and keep it calm.

"It's not as far as I know about the strength of court magicians. But that's all we need for the security of the Empire. I'm not asking for this. In fact, that's all the ability was required in the earlier undead battles. The enemy is so powerful."

Take the Chancellor's strong gaze back. The standing right knee makes me laugh gushing, but I desperately hold it in.

"If court magicians are more desirable, I will direct them. You will already have reached a sufficient level about magic, which means swordsmanship and action in the woods, but I was wondering if you could leave the territory in a decade."

In my words the Chancellor meditates his eyes quietly.

"The Lockhart family is still growing. You don't swallow any of this nonsense's suggestions..."

I didn't answer that. It didn't feel like you were telling us clearly, because it sounded like you were talking to yourself, but I felt it was more dangerous to say something from here than that.

"I don't care what happens to Lockhart, it doesn't mean I can't help him."

That's what the Chancellor started staring at us again.
