Dream Life

Episode 72: Strategies

February 18th.

I went to Jeremiah, the son of the Duke of Phyllobisher family, to explain the plans for the construction of the distillery in the Phyllobisher family.

The three main ones who gave the explanation were Leonard Muirhead, Umberto Renfield and Montague Underwood, who were also accompanied by Steven Etherington, who introduced them.

He finishes his explanation and gets the approval of the duke's man, but then, with Steven, he is asked about the retirement of the Chancellor, Lord Irving Feelobisher.

That also means a delicate time to succeed Lord Ezzarington.

To be honest, I didn't want to get involved in the politics of a drowsy court, but I had to think about the implications and get involved if the next Chancellor became Lord Ingolslop, not Lord Ezarrington.

However, because I can't trust Jeremiah and Steven, I put my answer on hold, but I have a plan in mind.

My plan is to break the gap between the headquarters of the commercial guild and the imperial branch.

The headquarters consider the interests of the coalition of urban states, mainly the city of Aurelia, but the merchants of Imperial Primus view Aurelia merchants as rivals.

In fact, the relationship is so hostile that I can think of the word "crossover" as being unfriendly. It comes together in an organization called the Commercial Guild simply because there is a common enemy called the Empire.

And the two heavy towns of the Crown Prince are each set against the backdrop of the power of the Aurelia and Plymouth merchants. Lord Ingolslop has a deep relationship with Wills Spencer, the current branch manager, and Lord Gabiston with Danny Clark, the candidate head of the next branch.

Although Spencer is a trader and in hostile relations with Aurelia's merchants, he is at present aligning his headquarters intentions and trajectories. In other words, we want to put an early end to the war against Lukes, restore shipping routes and undo maritime transactions.

Clark, on the other hand, carries out the commerce of clothing relations extensively, transporting from arranging materials, selling and completing them within the Empire. For this reason, so much so that Aurelia merchants are wary of entering.

To the extent Sharon looked into it, they say there are many merchants who will be just as alert to Aurelia as he is, and the seat of the next branch manager is for sure.

So the plan I've come up with is to get Lord Gabiston to support Lord Ezzarington through Clark.

Clark himself is neither in favor of nor against Lord Etherlington's policies, and is not committed if his own business is going well. In one way or another, it is easy to support Lord Ezzarington, whose demand for military uniforms increases.

On the contrary, Spencer should be wary of Lord Ezarrington, who is seen as an army stopover.

So if we burn Clark and make Lord Gabiston assume Lord Ezarrington will support the Crown Prince, we can see a winning chance.

The question is whether Lord Gabiston believes the story of Lord Ezarrington's support for the Crown Prince.

Lord Gabiston is not a fool either, he is fully alert to Lord Ezarrington. For this reason, even if the story of the Crown Prince's support comes out, it is fully conceivable to consider the possibility of Lord Ezzarington's plot and not to move.

This is the hardest part.

Exit the Chancellery and return to the Marquis of Seawell's mansion.

My fathers are greeting, but Liddy and the others remained in the mansion. This was due to be rolled out to the commercial district in the afternoon.

And we talk about Lord Feelobisher's retirement and Lord Ezarrington's inauguration as Chancellor.

It's supposed to be top secret, and I shouldn't even tell my family, but I don't want to hide things from Zach Sextet's face, and I want to hear his opinions.

But I didn't intend to tell my father or my brothers.

This is because my fathers have a lot of opportunities to have conversations with the powerful, and not necessarily talk like that into some kind of applause. In that case, honest they wouldn't be able to delude you.

"... so I heard a troublesome story. As far as I'm concerned, I'd like to use the head of the Commercial Alliance Imperial Branch to take it well."

Liddy and the others have no words on the size of the story.

Only one person, Sharon, said something. I do, but there's something about the last rampage, and he seems to be worried about whether it's okay to talk or not.

"If you have something to say, I want you to say it. This is a story that could involve all of us."

Sharon nodded small.

"It would be nice to use Mr. Spencer or Mr. Clark, but I think we should get an advance understanding from the Duke of Ezarrington"

"I agree with you, but let me know what Sharon thinks first"

"Yes," he nodded, beginning to explain to everyone.

"I think both the Chancellor and the Duke of Ezarrington have some way in mind. But neither of you should be picked a way to use a commercial guild. In a power relationship within an aristocratic society, will it be tried to be managed? In that case, an unexpected move on the part of the commercial guild could also disrupt the operation"

"You mean we could even pull each other's legs?"

"Yes. What made you think of Master Zach?

"My thoughts are similar. I'm not sure Lord Ezarrington needs Lord Gabiston's support. Maybe you're thinking of pushing Prince Leopold and confronting the Crown Prince completely."

It's unlikely, but I can't say enough that there isn't.

"It's hard and I'm not sure, but what happens to the story of who will be the next emperor? I think that would change that."

Liddy's been asking questions.

"That's true, but there are too many uncertainties to know. Especially what the neutrals are thinking... somehow, but I feel like they're after a third option"

"Is that a third option?" Mel asked.

"Not the Crown Prince, not Prince Leopold, another prince. Other princes than the two are only lower than the mid-teens. Still, after ten years, I'll be in my mid-twenties. It could be a better way than to force yourself to choose between two people with a lot of problems. If it takes the most time, it's subject to the condition."

The current emperor Siegfried XXI has more than twenty children, including the concubine child. Of those, only Crown Princes Gigismunt and Leopold are boys over twenty, but there are three princes about fifteen.

Of these, the most likely candidate is Julius, fifteen-year-old, a prince of direct descent.

And there's another prince who could be a candidate. It is Percival, sixteen-year-old, the prince of the Second Queen, who is married from the Marquis family.

We gathered information when we arrived in Imperial Capital, but none of it gathered much information.

Julius is currently a freshman at the Academy of Higher Studies and Percival is a sophomore.

Ask Julius' classmate, Primrose, and he says it's not possible or impossible.

"Your Highness Julius hasn't shown much face in lectures lately, has he? When I was in elementary school, I had the impression that it was brighter..."

I also ask the Laurencians about Percival, but they don't stand out for their status as princes.

None of them have bad rumors and vice versa.

This is not bad from the political form of the empire.

While the Empire is called authoritarian politics, it is oligarchy by the Senate. The emperor simply approves the decision of the Senate and will not actually be involved in the policy.

In other words, it is most desirable to have a presence that will approve the senate's ideas without possibility or impossibility and without making major mistakes in private life.

The six of us will then discuss future measures.

The proposal that came out is arguably disgusting, but Lord Ezarrington, anyway, would look fascinating to the Chancellor.

Around 3 p.m., he again goes to the Chancellery and applies to Lord Ezarrington for a visit.

We know that the knight's second son will be rejected even if he signs up, so he forcefully makes the meeting happen by saying, "It should be clear from Undersecretary of Finance Jeremiah Feelobisher".

A meeting with the Duke, whose time was free around 4pm, came true.

Explain what Jeremiah has told you and the current situation after paying for it.

"I have heard that His Excellency the Chancellor has been divulged by the end of this year wanting to cede the Chancellery position to His Excellency the Duke."

The Duke nods silently with no expression, urging him to speak. Looks like Jeremiah already told me.

After telling the most accurate story we have heard from Jeremiah, we will explain what we thought.

"... on such a serious matter, I understand that it is an act of disturbing the order of the Empire for someone in my capacity to stick his neck in. However, this could have a serious impact on our Lockhart family"

"Don't make a huge impact on the Lockhart family, for sure. Not only that, but also to the Northern Region, and to the Union of Urban States… Why is His Excellency the Prime Minister in such a hurry? Any thoughts on Sir?

"I'm not sure if they're actually in a hurry, or if they tried Master Jeremiah. I think the information is too little and lacks accuracy, but there are things you can think of."

"Let me hear that."

I nod "yes" and start explaining.

"Doesn't the Chancellor consider his succession to His Highness Julius or His Highness Percival? And don't you think of your Excellency on the back shield..."

I see the Duke's reaction, but I don't see it clearly. Without feeling unexpected, there was no bare gesture to affirm.

I wanted to talk after seeing some reaction, but I had no choice but to keep talking.

"... I was wondering if you thought it would be a little quicker for your Excellency to master the Civilians. It is no surprise that you consider this an opportune moment, especially with regard to the war against Luke and without further health problems for His Majesty."

"This could be a good time... so why don't you tell me what Sir has in mind?"

"It is a measure to make it look like His Royal Highness supports His Royal Highness the Crown Prince. Moves the imperial branch of the commercial guild for that purpose. First, I will make a proposal to His Excellency the Duke of Gabiston through Danny Clark, the candidate for the next branch head."

"What is that suggestion?

"We use commercial guilds to drag the Holy Gentlemen of Luke's Holy Kingdom out to the front and set them up for His Excellency to take over..."

Luke's Holy General is the head of the Order of the Holy Knights, that is, the highest general in the Order.

The organization of the Optical Divinity is headed by the Archbishop General, the chief minister of the Order, under which the following priests are brought together:

The Order of the Holy Knights, though at first under the authority of the Holy King, who is secular, is also incorporated into the organization of the Light Divinity. The Holy General is also a priest on the same stairs as the Cardinal.

The clergy of the Church would not otherwise be able to command the army, but since the Holy Knight is also a minister of the Holy King, it is possible to command the army.

The important thing is that the Holy General is the high priest, and in Luke he is the next most important figure after the Holy King and Archbishop.

If Lord Ezzarington takes those of such status, it will suffice as a feat. It will also be the Crown Prince's feat, as the Punishing Army commanded by the Crown Prince will take over further.

As Lord Gabiston, not only will he raise the prince's profile, but he will also be able to sell his thanks to Lord Ezzarington, the next prime minister's candidate. If Lord Ezarrington later stinks of Crown Prince support to Lord Gabiston, it's likely Lord Gabiston will come aboard.

"I don't know what the purpose is, but there are some problems," the Duke has said.

"The first is whether the commercial guild will take that approach."

This question is what I expected.

"Commercial guilds are being sipped boiling water by the denomination. It is a measure to cut the power of the Church, and it will speed up the end of the war of punishment, so I will definitely come aboard. If Aurelia's headquarters doesn't come on board, the Imperial Branch alone is fine. Both Spencer Branch Manager and Mr. Clark will find this proposal fascinating."

"Uhm...... but I have concerns. In terms of whether the Holy Admiral himself will be on the front line to carry out the work."

This question is also within the scope of the assumption.

"I'm sure it will depend on who in the denomination you take the story to, but if you hear that you have the opportunity to take over His Royal Highness the Crown Prince for a denomination that continues to be untidy, you will find it fascinating. In that case, the army to be organized will be 100,000, so only the Holy Gentlemen in the Knights can be its commanders"

The Order of the Holy Knights continues with an army general, a regimental captain, who tops the Holy General, but they can't even give him command of a 20,000-strong army. For that reason, if it were to come out, it could only be the Holy General.

The size of the enemy forces increases, but I don't care about that at all. The Duke, and me.

Because where 50,000 is 100,000, if the denomination comes out with its mouth, the chances of winning will definitely increase.

"Is the element of uncertainty the power of a commercial guild? Well, if the work fails, it doesn't have an impact from this point of view."

"Exactly. The result is irrelevant because the fact that your Excellency and the Duke of Gabiston held hands inside is important."

"I doubt the third issue, but in terms of why Lord Gabiston. Isn't Lord Ingolslop okay?

I feel that the Duke himself understands and says this question. I guess you're trying me out.

"His Excellency the Duke of Gabiston is the Foreign Secretary and you should be familiar with the situation in Lukes. For that reason, His Excellency the Duke of Ingolslop, the treasurer, wondered if he would take this measure."

"That's not all."

"Yes, Mr. Clark, close to His Excellency the Duke of Gabiston, doesn't need to care what happens to Luke. Meanwhile, Mr Spencer, close to His Excellency the Duke of Ingolslop, has different circumstances. If Luke is unilaterally defeated, merchants using Luke's harbor may be asked for large loans from the Holy Kingdoms government after the battle, or gold. Mr. Spencer, a trader, will not want the presence of the Holy Gentleman as a factor in his great defeat."

Answer that much, but the Duke is silently looking at me. Those eyes still said there must be a reason.

I had no choice but to tell you the real reason.

"In order to consider the case of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince on the supreme throne and to strike a wedge between His Excellency the Duke of Ingolslop and His Excellency the Duke of Gabiston so as not to be a single rock. This should make it easier for His Royal Highness to move as Chancellor, even if unforeseen circumstances occur and His Royal Highness is made Emperor early."

Given that the Crown Prince has become Emperor, it is likely that Lord Ingolslop will replace Lord Ezarrington as Chancellor. However, if we maintain a cooperative relationship with Lord Gabiston, it is unlikely that Lord Ezarrington will be altered.

That's all I explained, the Duke loosened his expression.

"Lord Jeremiah is also good at using people. Because we're going to use Sir to try to solve the problem from His Excellency the Chancellor."

I noticed what Jeremiah had in mind in those words.

I can't argue that he did say he danced to me.

"I'll take care of this with me and the Chancellor. Sir doesn't need to move. Tell Lord Jeremiah that from me."

I was wondering what I would do if they told me to do it, so I nodded honestly.

"Even that would be more helpful to me. I don't want to stick my neck in politics any more."

"Right. Sir has the noble task of building a distillery. I think it would be better for me to focus on you, too. Hahaha!"

There is no clear drinking god in this world, but one of these days I thought it had nothing to do with the fact that a new god was about to be born.
