Dream Life

Lesson 91: Visit to Distillery Candidate Sites

April 12th.

At the request of the Blacksmith Guild today, we are to inspect a candidate site for the construction of a distillery near Welburn.

As usual, I am accompanied by Zach Sextet's members and Luna.

My father and brother take their squire to check the proficiency of prostitutes and mercenaries, and my mother goes home with her youngest sister Sophia.

Theo and Serra want to go on a tour of the Fourth Knights of the Northern Governor's Office Army, they were in the mood early in the morning.

But it is subtle whether they will join the army of the Northern Governor's Office. Because there is a play where the relationship between the Rockharts and the Raswells is deteriorating.

Brother-in-law Rosalee is worried about her father, Hubert Raswell Borderline Uncle, who remains in the castle with her samurai Elena.

Sim Marron, who is usually supposed to follow her brother, is supposed to be heading to Baron Colridge's house, her home with Angie today.

The reason, of course, is to sign up for marriage.

Baron Colridge's territory is relatively close to about twenty kilometers from Wellburn, and it's safe, so they're going alone.

The two were in a dating mood or creating a sweet atmosphere, but Sims definitely got nervous as he approached the Baron's house.

Before he leaves, he talks to Baroness Barbara Harding, the chief samurai, about asking him about the silliness of the borderline brethren. She seems to have drawn on my intentions, but I was thinking that the results would come first.

But Baron Ferdinand Oldham told me he needed to talk to me when I tried to go on an inspection of the site where the distillery was to be built.

"I'm sorry, but could you and I accompany you?"

I'm confused because I don't know how the story goes.

The distillery to be built near Wellburn is made by the Blacksmith Guild, with no involvement of the Northern Governor's Office.

The story of the construction of the distillery is being talked about during last year's outdoor banquet and the realization is that we will not ask the Northern Governor's Office.

If I insist, enough to ask for street maintenance if it was a road that the carriage couldn't get through, but a blacksmith's guild would do it with their own funds, so I can't even think of that as a reason.

The baron explained why I was confused.

"I thought it was a distraction. It may be annoying, but I'd love to."

So I somehow figured out why. Perhaps, but Barbara moved quickly and Borderline Uncle and Baron realized the intention.

"Being accompanied is not a problem in itself, but what about security?

In a situation of extreme shortage of manpower, especially soldiers, it would be a problem for many soldiers to leave the castle, albeit escorted by the Governor General. It is also a matter of concern that the inhabitants of the land to be built will shrink.

"We have heard that today's scheduled visit is about three km (Kimmel) to the village of McKellan. According to Mr. Miyagi, the village is a well-traveled place, and with Lord Zacharias, there will be no problem."

He's already checked to the location, and the border uncle isn't a carriage, and he's going to take the horse.

Even though it's safe, it doesn't taste good when the six of us are escorted by a northern governor comparable to the rulers of a country.

"Would it be possible for some of you to come from the Wellburn Guard?"

The Wellburn Guard is an escort to the Governor General. All one squadron remains on this expedition.

"Whether it is possible or not, I wonder if we should not accompany the Guards this time"

"Sure it is...... I won't be able to make up my mind in one place, so I'm going to put a no to my father"

As the Baron said, "patience” is better suited to my purpose, as well as that of Uncle Borderline.

What is more, it would also advertise that security in the north is preserved enough for the Governor to take a long ride without escort.

But I made up my mind, and if anything happened, my father would be annoyed. At the very least, the "newspaper liaison minister" should be properly reported, contacted and consulted.

Going under my father, reporting, my father can't hide his surprise either.

"Do you mean to give only Lord Oldham... what do you think we should do?

"As the Baron said, there is no security problem, and I will try to protect it even if I change my life. Successful use of the matter would also give good publicity that the Governor's Office can afford it."

"Well... why don't you take some from your squire? Then it won't stand out."

"No, we won't be the only ones who stand out. If I act with the Blacksmith Guild officials, I'll soon find out it's about booze. I don't normally think His Excellency the Governor will be there. But when a soldier is accompanied, the opposite is possible."

"Right. Then I'll leave everything to you. I heard you spoke to the chief samurai earlier, but I didn't expect it to work so quickly..."

I briefly explained to my father that Gateskell visited me last night during breakfast and that I would speak to Barbara this morning.

With my father's consent, I will inform the Baron of my understanding.

As soon as I thought it would take me a while to get ready, a borderline uncle appeared dressed in horseback riding clothes. Because it's not the usual brilliant clothing, you won't be noticed as a borderline uncle just at first glance.

Behind him was Barbara following him, smiling with a grin when his eyes met.

"I'm sorry I couldn't. But this is necessary. No matter what, you know what I mean."

Soon Baron Oldham pulled two horses. The baron is not his usual swallow tail suit either, he is in discreet horseback riding clothes.

"But it's been a long time. Riding horses with your palace."

The usually quiet baron is unusual and exciting.

I guess I'm remembering when I was young because it's not normal for the Governor's Office's number one and number two to go on a long ride at the same time. Thinking about it, even though I suggested it myself, I don't think we should be the only escorts.

Take the Barbaras' drop-off and exit the castle gate at Welburn Castle.

My first destination is the Blacksmith Guild. I was supposed to rendezvous with the guided staff there.

A mid-twenties male employee and branch manager, Dagenhardt, were waiting in front of the Guild building.

Immediately after Dagenhardt says, "Are you finally here," he realizes what a borderline uncle looks like and freezes his expression.

Uncle Borderline said, "I was going to show you something, too," and laughed niggardly.

After Dägenhardt bows his head to it, he grabs my arm and takes me a little further away.

"What do you mean? Why is His Excellency the Governor here?" he whispered.

"They say it's just a distraction. We would have talked about it at the previous banquet. So he's interested in what kind of place to make it."

"What are we going to do with the escort?

"I hear it's a safe place, so we'll be enough. We can deal with Thirty or Forty Bandits."

I understand the concerns of Dagenhardt, and I think for myself, but the thought of Borderline Uncle is to transmit that we can afford Welburn citizens through the Blacksmith Guild.

So, bad for him, but I let him play.

"If that's what you mean, I wouldn't have a problem... okay. I'd like you to meet one of our staff."

That's what I'm saying. I'm going back to where I started.

"This is George, our official. I'm going to put it on my assistant when Johnny gets back. For a short time, tell him a lot."

The young man, called George, was small and skinny, despite a blacksmith guild employee with a lot of hard work. I'm not a beautiful man, but I have a thin eye and a lovely mouth that's too big, and I get the impression that I'm always laughing.

"My name is George. It's an honor to work with the famous Sir Zacharias."

He seems to be unexpectedly thick and scared of me. It's fresh these days because it felt feared by Blacksmith Guild officials and the employees of the Food Relations Chamber of Commerce.

However, he hasn't noticed anything about Uncle Borderline and the Baron, and teaching just in case, he caught a smile. Exactly. They get nervous when their rulers are in front of them.

I told him that I was still impatient, and he quickly regained the pace,

"I would now like to head to the village of McKellan, the place of today's inspection"

That's what I say and ride. I thought I was going with the guild carriage, but they had riding skills, and I can tell you that I was going with a horse from the start.

We ride horses the same way and follow after him.

The village of McKellan is about three kilometers east of the city of Welburn.

George explains that the population is about a thousand, between small, tall hills, with tributaries of the Wells flowing through the centre of the village and rich in fine water.

"I understand that the distillery conditions you hear from Johnny are rich in water, that it is easy to transport raw materials and fuel, that there is plenty of space to build a reservoir, and that it is easy to dispose of the cusp of malt. I don't think it's a problem because it's clean water about water, but how much should I think about other conditions…"

He knows some conditions with the letter from Johnny. I've just never actually seen a distillery or a reservoir and I can't seem to picture it well.

The suburbs of Wellburn are plains, with numerous settlements to be built by a dozen farmers consolidated. There is a lot of winter sown wheat growing around it, but it still looks like a dark green carpet, not so much “McAutumn”.

After about two kilometers, the road goes into the hills. The road itself will be well maintained and there will be no problems in the passage of carriages.

That's fine, but in vain, the hills are not open and remain in the groves.

It is likely to be a farmland that should be looser and more open than the hills of the village of Rasmore, but it was completely untouched.

Ask Baron Oldham, there are many flatlands around Wellburn that can be made into farmland, and he doesn't have to bother opening it up to the hills.

The grove trees have just sprouted and are not yet as shaded as the new green season, but still make you feel that winter is over.

In the untouched woods, but just outside the territorial capital, the road here was well maintained. The outlook is not very positive, but there are no dangerous signs at all.

Still, with Uncle Borderline accompanying him, Dan moves forward a little bit to make sure he's safe.

Luna also has raised her horseback riding arm and almost no longer feels dangerous. I was just thinking about the unforeseen and letting him stay right next to me.

"It's a beautiful forest"

"Right. It's gonna be cleaner in a month."

Proceed with the horse while we talk like that.

I'm talking about Luna, but I'm kind of telling Uncle Borderline what's going on. That she is the survivor of a village attacked by demonic manipulative orcs, that my father and mother intend to adopt.

Did Uncle Borderline also pity the girl who lost everything she knew, as opposed to her parents, and even though she was not yet adopted, she had given instructions to the minister to treat her as a relative of the Lockhart family, namely the Raswell Borderline Uncle.

About two hills over, I could see the village of McKellan.

A river about ten metres wide runs between the hills, along which private houses are consolidated and built. Is the middle belly of the hill a pasture or many livestock were grazed? I was wary of demons in villages along the northern streets, but it doesn't feel that way here, and it feels so idle that I think of the word "pastoral”.

George pointed to the hill to the north,

"There are similar settlements across that hill. Can you see the river first? Or would you like to see the brewery first?

"Can you show me the brewery? I want to check the river water after that."

"Okay. Then," he says, leading the way.

The brewery was slightly north of the centre of the settlement and relatively large.

"The beer from this brewery is what I buy in my guild. It doesn't seem to be the Branch Manager's preference, but I'm making Holger's favorite brown ale."

Holger is a dwarf who has come to the village of Rasmore, one of the blacksmiths who made his grandfather and father's sword.

"That's exciting. There's going to be a good ale this time of year."

When I said that, Beatrice said, "That's exciting," and Liddy also said, "Do you remember what Holger's ale tasted like? I've heard."

When I try to answer, "You guys really like alcohol," Luna joins the story. It's unthinkable before, but I can naturally zero my grin when it has become quite bright in the last two months or so.

"Holger's ale is thick and a little sweet. It has too strong a yeasty aroma and weak hop flair, but it's a good ale that maximizes the aroma of malt"

That's how I explain it.

"When are you telling me about the taste of ale you drank?" and the frontier uncle is frightened.

As soon as we talked about that, we arrived at the brewery.

You had contacted us in advance, and a craftsman with a big forelock greeted us.

The blacksmith guild means being polite with us as well as George.

A tour of the brewery will take place immediately upon exchange of greetings.

Only Uncle Borderline and the Baron had never seen a brewery among these members, and the two had listened to the explanation in a way that intrigued them.

"I have something I plan to ship today, will it be tasted?

I've already got a wooden jock for you to listen to, and you don't think we're going to try it.

I wondered and asked,

"We have heard rumors that our craftsmen are also going to the village of Rasmore to train"

I'm just wondering what the rumor is, but somehow I can imagine it, so I just nodded.

Instead of jocks, have them sneak out of the storage magic (inventory) and pour it into the glass they kept.

At the moment of pouring, it is wrapped in the fragrant and sweet aroma of malt.

"Smells good. I remember that," Liddy says, "but I didn't answer that word because I was focused on the glass I received.

(It's a beautiful caramel color... The yeast floats because the filtration is sweet, but I don't hate this feeling because it's ready...)

After enjoying the fragrance, slowly include it in your mouth.

"Yummy!" he said unexpectedly.

"The aroma of yeast sticks to my nose when I set aside time, but I like the sweetness and aroma of the malt, which has been roasted slightly stronger. You're right that I don't need any more hops for this flavor. I guess I'd be happy if I could have a slow drink at noon..."

When I squeal like that, Liddy and Beatrice mouth the jock at the same time.

"It's really delicious. But I don't remember drinking this."

"It sure tastes good. I share Lydia's opinion. When was the last banquet? Or was it at the Dwarf Festival? I don't remember drinking either of them."

"I'm drinking both of them. However, there was clutter during the Wellburn banquet because it was after the summer. It was the best time of the season at the Dwarf Festival, but I guess the fermentation went too far in relation to the long distance traveled"

They were convinced to say to my explanation, "So you thought it was something else".

"Sounds really delicious. I want to be able to drink fast too," Luna said unfortunately,

"We're with you. I need to be twenty years old soon. You know, Sharon," Mel said, Sharon nodding loudly.

Uncle Borderline and Baron Oldham were also tasting it. They both turned their eyes round and praised Uncle Borderline for "never having had such a delicious ale".

George is desperately taking notes for some reason and the craftsmen are happy to slap each other on the shoulders with our admiration.

"Is the distillery thing at the heart okay," Dan asked.

"Right. Not that I forgot, but it's because this guy tasted too good," he deludes.

"I haven't seen the water yet, but if this much ale can be made, the brewery is definitely a pass. From what I've seen, other conditions seem good, and there won't be a problem building a distillery here."

Then I checked the other conditions, but there were things I was just checking down, and I had no problem at all.

We also went to see other settlements, but equally good water and raw material conditions led to the conclusion that up to five distilleries would be built in the village of McKellan.
