Dream Life

Episode 92: The Wellburn Exit

April 20th.

All the errands initially scheduled in Wellburn have been completed and we are leaving for the village of Rasmore today.

The procedure was also completed without problems for the transfer of Kirnalek and the three surrounding villages. It conveys the Lockhart family's policy when discussing it with Borderline Uncle.

"As for Kilnarek, for the moment, we intend to allow him autonomy as it stands. For each of the villages of Baldock, Oozley and Cipheres, we intend to see how it goes while sending knights on a regular basis…"

The city of Kilnarek, a fortified city, is a member of the Union of Urban States, with Aurelia as its ally. However, since it is also the territory of the Raswell Border House, it pays an advance payment that is increased by the tax amount in lieu of obtaining autonomy.

The city of Kilnarek has a population of about three thousand and five hundred people and about nine hundred households. About fifty percent of citizens' income comes from taxes, such as headcount taxes and income taxes, which amount to about two million kronas and two billion yen. In addition, there are tax revenues of more than 300,000 kronas due to the city entry tax.

Naturally, not all of that comes into the Raswell family, except for the expenses necessary to run the city. That amount is roughly KKr 500,000.

This is coupled with a payment of 500,000 kronas from the Union of Urban States and a million kronas once they enter the Raswell family. But of these, we have to put half into the imperial government, and in fact, half a million kronas and 500 million yen will be part of the Raswell family.

The Lockhart family, on the other hand, is exempt from the obligation to pay taxes, and millions of kronas go round to nostalgia.

The villages of Baldock, Cipheres and Oozley, but together they have a population of less than a thousand and five hundred, roughly double that of Rasmore.

These villages are pioneering villages, which means they are mostly exempt from taxes. Instead, no matter what, the Empire and the Raswell Border House will send soldiers and have not fulfilled their duty of defence. It's in pretty much the same condition as the village of Rasmore before my grandfather came.

Until now, the city of Kilnarek had represented the collection of taxes, but they said that even if the three villages were combined, only about 50,000 kronas could be paid.

However, this is because the three villages and Kilnarek were doing well. When I started making scotch in the village of Rasmore, I also started buying wheat from these villages. It is also estimated that the minister, Nicholas Garland, had more than five times the tax revenues originally due to agricultural guidance and a dramatic rise in production.

Uncle Borderline had to laugh bitterly about this fact.

As for the three villages, we plan to let them choose two policies.

The choice is to make a proper tax payment or to raise a vigilante like Rasmore Village. In other words, it would give you the option of tax or military service.

This was decided in terms of fairness with the village of Rasmore.

Rathmore Village taxes are very cheap. In the case of farmers, they should be able to pay for their emergency reserves, which should only be about five percent when converted into tax rates. This is a big reason why the Lockhart family didn't originally need much cash, but it is also mandatory to join the vigilante.

In other words, if you want a tax rate similar to that of the village of Rasmore, you are asked to perform comparable military service duties. If you don't like it, you will be asked to pay the proper taxes.

The way I say it is tough, but I believe there is less rebellion.

The tax rate I'm thinking about right now is about 30%, which is going to be well below the Empire's average of 50%. There is also an adequate cash income from agricultural guidance and stable buying, and it is inconceivable to be in distress with a tax burden of about 30%.

Before that the popularity of the Lockhart family was immense and no problems would arise.

He says the three villages are also honored to join Lockhart territory, and in fact, they will certainly be safer now if they become Lockhart territory.

Currently, demons descending from the Aquila Mountains have been exterminated by the Lockhart family. For this reason, it is rare to go to three villages.

However, demons may flow in from the Karsh Pass to the north, the small mountains to the east, and Mount Shekhalion. In the case of demons nearby in the three villages, the Adventurer Guild of Kilnarek has made a request to expel them.

Mount Shekharion only goes down a relatively weak demon because the Village of Rasmore vigilante regularly misinterprets demons, but there are rare instances where big men like Auga get lost from the northern Karsh, and they are still hit by major damage, about once every decade.

Being in Lockhart territory allows the guards in Kilnarek, which is only about three kilometers away, to move, so as long as it is not even a fairly large herd, safety can be ensured. Thinking about it, I'm wondering if you would choose to pay the taxes without creating a vigilante from the village of Rasmore.

City of Kilnarek, but although autonomy will be granted, the command of the Guard is to be held by the Lockhart family. There is a reason why we do not want to create a situation where there is no Lockhart family commander in the event of a situation like that of a large group of undead. It has also been requested most by the city of Kilnarek and will not be a problem.

As things stand, we plan to hit former mercenary Byron Seedorf on the guard captain.

Regarding the construction of the distillery, we have found three other candidate sites besides the village of McKellan, each of which can make two to three distilleries. Now it is possible to build more than ten distilleries around Wellburn City.

He also reports to the Blacksmith Guild that he feels that the area around Wellburn is suitable for the production of Scotch and is likely to develop further.

In the future, it is likely to become a major region alongside the Ars area.

There's talk of Sim Marron and Angelica Colridge's marriage in this other place, but this one was admitted without any problems.

Sim is planning on having a wedding here in the meantime to join his brother in a demon and bandit sweep operation and having another wedding once again after returning to the village of Rasmore.

That sweep operation, but all that remained were my brother and Sims, Rosalie and Angie. Angie was married, but Rosalie offered to join her brother in the operation.

"I think the Knights will be excited if I take the lead. Wouldn't that be a good idea as a way to raise morale?"

That's what I told my father and Uncle Borderline, and they both acknowledged its validity and approved it to stay.

In fact, if Rosalie, known as the Princess Knight and extremely popular not only with the Knights, but also with the citizens of Welburn, were to take up the battlefield with her brother, the Knights' motivation would increase and their achievements would increase greatly. Also, the bandits should look at the motivated Knights to make them feel more at risk and not come back easily.

That's a good idea to think about, but I'm getting worried that my brother-in-law is going to get hurt.

The brothers have already left Welburn to participate in the sweep operation.

And the mental state of the borderline bosses I first felt when I got to Wellburn, but it's gotten so much better that I can see it differently in the last few days.

Seems the surroundings were even more disturbed by the anxiety of Borderline Uncle, an elaborate but luxurious politician. For this reason, the restoration of Borderline Uncle had also dispelled the anxiety of officials of the Northern Governor's Office and soldiers of the Knights, and the brightness had returned to the entire castle.

The Blacksmith Guild contributed significantly to this.

The active spread of the story during the visit to the site where the distillery was to be built made it possible for the citizens to think that the north was headed in a good direction, albeit half-heartedly. The story spread once and for all due to the fact that the borderline uncle more often left the castle and actually gave a bright look.

Behind it was the work of Chief Barbara Harding, but it was never known except to those who worked for the castle.

Around 9 a.m., all but the brothers were lined up with the Lockhart family to leave from Welburn Castle.

"I can't help you much and it's painful, but we're going back to the realm with this. The painful times should be over soon. We sincerely pray that the time of peace will return."

Uncle Borderline answers my father's greeting in a firm tone.

"It is thanks to the lords that they have removed the anxiety of Non and that the brightness has returned to the Knights and the citizens. And it's really comforting to be able to borrow Rodrick."

So I tapped my father's shoulder lightly,

"I wish you a safe journey"

When you stop at my place,

"Thank you for your help, sir."

"No, I think this time it's the help of Chief Harding Samurai"

"Mm-hmm. You're right, but there's also the measure you gave Desmond. It's also true that it made me feel better when I saw it."

It gives Associate Baron Desmond Gateskel what he has set out his policy on the future. It was conceived to accommodate Sharon and every possible situation in the current situation, but it's not a big deal in terms of content.

I would therefore also draw your attention to that point.

"I am sure you fully understand this, but please consider the measures you have given Lord Gateskel to be of reference. As far as I can think of, I can handle the change in circumstances, but it's just what I and Sharon envisioned."

"I know. But if you can show me all those plans, I can't help but hope."

Baron Oldham is also nodding at Uncle Borderline's words.

"I didn't expect you to come up with a 30-page plan in about three days. And the numbers were specific."

As the Baron says, the proposed plan is more than thirty pages long, including the contents of a month-long sweep operation and a policy of responding to what is envisaged, policing after the mercenaries have left, an overview of the re-crusade operation after the return of the Northern Governor's office forces, and a negotiating policy with the commercial guild.

Many specific stories have been written, in particular on the negotiating policy with the commercial guild, concerning the restoration of security on the streets of Aurelia and the extent to which concessions will be drawn from the guild side.

Even so, as I told Uncle Borderline, I can only write about what I can think of as things stand. There are a lot of unknown parts about sweep operations in particular, and although I wouldn't call them failures, they are likely not to go as I thought.

If that happens, because the premise breaks down, the borderline brethren have to figure out what to do with the funds left over.

I will point out that,

"That would be no choice. It hardly ever goes according to plan. But it even has a proposed amendment to the plan. If you use it well, you can do anything for about six months..."

I feel overly optimistic, but decided to think it was better than overly pessimistic.

I also get parting words from Barbara.

"Thank you. Without Zacharias, I don't think your museum would have been well."

"That's not true. We think it's because of Barbara's support."

This is what I meant.

I've thought about a lot of policies, but I can't get rid of my anxiety if I can understand it with my head. As some words say to have a mind, the same information can be both positive and negative.

She tried to open her mouth to deny it, but proceeds ahead of it.

"Please continue to support His Excellency the Governor. The peace of the North, no, the Empire hangs heavily on His Excellency. Best regards,"

That's what I say and I bow my head.

Silence flowed while I lowered my head, but there was Barbara with a clear smile when I looked up.

"Yes, we will try to meet the expectations of Master Zacharias"

That's all I said, I bowed my head and turned to say hello to the Liddies.

(I originally thought you were a strong core person, but if you can make that smile in this situation, I feel like the Raswells are going in a good direction too...)

As I was thinking about it, Liddy stopped by to say goodbye to Barbara.

"Looks like she blew it out, too."

I'm not sure what you're talking about, and I'll just say "oh".

"I saw that kid's face when you were lowering your head... no, I'm glad that's it. to each other......"

He didn't tell me any more than that just to say meaningful words.

I just kind of know what I'm trying to say.

You're probably trying to say that you blew out your admiration for me.

Definitely an attractive woman. Sometimes I don't wish it were in another form in another era. But now I agree with Liddy that this was a good idea.

Then he exchanged words with the Barons of Oldham and the Lockhart family set out for their nostalgic hometown, the village of Rasmore.
