Dream Life

Episode 39: Demonic Movements

Tria history July 1, 324.

Two and a half months have passed since Luna left under me.

I haven't seen it in person, but as far as the rumors go, it seems to be working. Hazel, the party leader who entrusted her, was as solid as we can see, making Grades VIII to VII requests that young people receive in relatively close proximity.

They say a young man named Ryan, a Halvard user, seems dissatisfied, but it would be reasonable from their strengths.

The only reason Ryan isn't happy is because he can't show Luna the good part. Most of all, his lack of strength and dissatisfaction is wrong.

It seems to be strict in terms of income due to the fact that he has received a request of about grade seven.

Grade 7 Demon Crystal Stone is only 10C (Krona), about 10,000 yen in Japanese yen, and the cost of fulfilling the request is about the same. In other words, if you divide it by four, it will only be 5,000 yen.

Sometimes that happens, the inn they stay in is a cheap place to deal with young people, and although Hazel and Luna are staying in a room for two, swordsman fans and Ryan seem to be staying in a big room.

I'm not sure how hard it is around here.

When I became an adventurer, I had a request between college lives, so I could afford it financially. He also had an irregular firepower of three magicians, so he had received about a sixth grade request from the beginning, and it was even easier since Beatrice joined him, and he had never felt the severity of his income.

Still seems like fun as far as listening.

I can't go see her myself, so I'm asking Mel or Sharon to see what's going on. I don't want to be overprotective, but I can't even see what's going on out here.

I'm just going to stop seeing how it goes. Because my presence in this city is becoming a rumor.

That being said, I'm not going to walk away from this completely, and I'm going to take the request as an adventurer.

If anyone asks me, I'm going to say, "I'm looking to be the youngest second-degree adventurer of all time, the first first-degree adventurer of all time".

In my case, I'm in third grade at twenty, and I'm updating my youngest record of third level adventurers, and if I keep on being an adventurer, it's because it's possible to get the title of "First Class Adventurer” that no one has ever been able to be.

It's the ultimate goal of those who aspire to be adventurers, and it's a good reason for me to be here.

I'll change the story, but it's summer solstice day today, July 1st. In other words, it hits the summer festival day.

There was also a festival here in Periclitle, where stalls were served all over the city and young men and women were interested in dancing.

"Long time no see," Liddy smiles with a goblet of wine.

"Right. I knew the festival was fine," Beatrice said of a jock with beer.

"I love it, too," Mel jocked, as did Sharon. "Me too!" and carries a glass of white wine into his mouth with a brighter voice than usual.

I couldn't afford to enjoy the festival with all my hands about Luna from last October's harvest festival. Of course, he hasn't even returned to the village, and to the extent that in the town of Cardobec he showed a little face to the festival celebrating the New Year's Eve and the Spring Festival on Spring Day.

I'm still coming to the blacksmith town to keep Luna and I from seeing each other today.

I was enjoying a drink with Geiselhale and the other Periclitle blacksmiths and enjoyed my first holiday in a long time.

Drinking with the blacksmiths makes me talk about nature and distilled liquor. Manufacture of distilled liquor has also begun in the vicinity here in Periclitle, and should be supplied around next year for three years.

The only problem is that there are so many demons around here that you can't build a distillery in the woods. Precisely because Dwarf adventurers have said they would be guarded, construction and operation were possible, but not commensurate with the cost, so it became a meadow along the Fatas River.

As a result, I am worried about how temperature and humidity affect barrel storage.

I was talking about that, but I heard disturbing rumors.

It was Guiselhale who told me, that there was talk of a strangeness going on in the mountains of Aquila at the Adventurer Guild's general headquarters.

"He said there was talk that the mountain had suddenly glowed. They hear other ringing noises, or they usually show up undead birds (Phoenix)."

There were other stories about demonic movements being more active than usual or about the continued non-return of adventurers in middle-class locations.

"Randall told me they're sending a party of second-degree adventurers to Aquila. The veteran who came to Noon's to take care of the weapons said the same thing."

Randall is Randall Ogburn, a former second-degree mercenary and head of Periclitle's defense, and he is also a third-degree adventurer. He has a lavish personality, but he seems to turn his mind to the details, and he has a reputation for not being the kind of person who gets danced to by rumors.

"Does the guild work... you should tell the village to be vigilant too," he tells Liddy.

"Right. Why don't you just go back to the village?"

"That's good, but for now, we need to gather information first. If it's going to be as big as it was in the last undead, you'd better hit it in advance."

Even when Vlad Varonos, king of the undead, led the great army and raided, the anomaly is confirmed deep in the mountains of Aquila. At that time, flying dragons (Wyburn) and winged lions (Griffons) were flying around, and relatively weak demons were fleeing towards the foot.

If we see the same signs this time, it's because of the possibility of being enemies of the gods after Luna.

"Want to volunteer for reconnaissance? Because we would welcome the guild, and the information would be turned around as a matter of priority."

Sharon agrees with Beatrice's proposal.

"I think that's a good idea, too. If Master Zach moves, he looks like he's working with the Lockhart family."

"Right," he replies.

What Sharon is trying to say is that if the Rockhart family, the fierce on the border, can be shown to be on pace with the Adventurer's Guild, it gives peace of mind to those who live in the city. Sometimes it's easy to get the help of a blacksmith's guild.

"But going to the back of the mountain will mean leaving here for a long time, is it okay? If you come after Luna in that gap..."

Mel expresses concern but sees no problem in that regard.

"It would be a split there. I wish I could keep it that way, but if there's anything strange about it, I think it would be safer to investigate it."

Mel nodded honestly at my words. She had the same idea, but she warned me once.

"Tomorrow. But let's go to the East Branch. If you're making a request, you can take it. The village will be fine if you take the information to the Norton Chamber of Commerce."

Geiselhale came into the conversation where the conclusions were drawn.

"Are we going into the mountains tomorrow?

"No, we're gathering information tomorrow. If we're going into the mountains, we're going to go after tomorrow."

"Then I have to feed my English spirit today! Drink, drink!"

Eventually, we were to hang out until morning. Still, the fact that I haven't been able to drink casually in a long time is not the word of Geiselhale, but I think it has nourished my English. I was just physically tired of drinking though.

July 2. I came to the east branch of the Adventurer Guild.

The East Branch is crowded with many adventurers, even though they say it is the day after the festival at the branch responsible for Aquila side requests.

Head to the bulletin board with the requisition form on it and look for a request for an investigation in the mountains. A request form called "Survey of the Aquila Mountains” was affixed to the place where the third level request was affixed.

Peel off the requisition form and go to the reception with the requisition form for the crusade of Fire Dragon (Salamander), which is a third level requisition.

"You're going to take this request, it helps," he said, familiarizing himself with the staff at the reception.

Requests for more difficult investigations have fewer undertakers than crusades. Though they just go and come back, it is often the rugged back of the mountain where the ruins remain, because it takes more days than a crusade.

In addition, equipment for climbing, such as ropes, is required and large quantities of luggage must be carried in conjunction with food. So much so that a typical party sometimes hires a specialist baggage carrier (porter).

Naturally, the reward is reduced for that, and many people think that they are not fit for it, sometimes attacked by big demons who don't even think about it.

"Yeah, I was going to try to get into the mountains with the Salamander crusade, so I thought it was just right"

Salamander's crusade is quite ahead of the investigative location, and then a little far from it. However, many parties receive requests in this way.

"The survey location is“ Lion Rock ”fifty kilometers east of here. There was information around that suspicious light extended toward heaven, so find out if there are any traces of it. The request fee is two thousand kronas. If traces are found and evidence is brought back, an additional three thousand kronas will be paid as a bonus…"

The "Lion Rock” was a large rock in a chopped rock near the foot of Aquila, named after a shape resembling the head of a lion. It is used as a landmark because of its easy-to-remember shape for adventurers and the fact that it can be seen even from the woods.

The altitude is not so great, but it is a difficult place to travel, inhibited by deep forests and valleys with many, but just go and come back to two thousand kronas, two million yen in Japanese yen. Four hundred thousand yen per person for a party of five is comparable to the average citizen's monthly income. Including the reward for success would be one million yen, which would be a breaking category for third-level requests.

However, trips alone take three days each way, less than ten days if they include surveys, so it is not always a good request for the price.

The Salamander crusade on the one hand, but the place is ten kilometers east of the city, five hundred kronas per car. The crusade of demons can also sell materials, and in the case of demons of tertiary equivalent, the Demon Crystal Stone alone is about 300 kronas, so if it goes well, it will earn nearly a thousand kronas.

Of course, since fighting demons is a prerequisite, there is a risk of injury and equipment damage, but if you are lucky enough to find it quickly, you can make money in about three days.

"I'm glad Mr. Zach and the others took it this time, as the Demons are suspected to be involved"

With the perception of being an expert in magic formation, it was said that requests for demonic relations would be turned as a matter of priority. This request is not about Demonic relations, but we suspect Demonic involvement in General Headquarters, and he wanted us to take it.

"Don't you need the good offices of a baggage man (porter)? Can I introduce you to some people who specialize in Aquila?

Porters are often contracted by mid-level adventurers of about Grade Five. Some of them specialize in it, and it is treasured in Periclittle and in Riccadale on the front lines.

"I was doing it on Lockhart territory too, so I'm fine," he replies, entering the process of receiving the request.

By the way, I can't report that I decided to go and nothing happened.

Alliance officials and others are not accompanied, but if you check the orb, you will know immediately if you have fulfilled the request, so you cannot make a false report. If you make a false report, you will be expelled from the guild after paying a fine.

That day he procured food and more and left for the east in the early morning of July 3 the following day.

Replace your gear with something made of dwarf and be ready.

The early morning meadows were still cool, but as the sun rises, the mugging heat of summer strikes occasionally even in the deep woods.

Moreover, insect-based demons behave vibrantly this time of year, besides familiar demons such as the giant spider Giant Spider and the killer bee (Killer Hornet), kamakiri with giant axe-like sickles, axes roaches (Axmantis), beetles with medium-sized dogs with spear-like horns, and spearbeetles (Lance Beetle) attacked.

Without needing to use magic, he defeated it without difficulty, but he felt the density of the demons was darker than usual.

"You've got demons moving vibrantly," I said, as did Beatrice. "Right. I think it's too much because it's this time of year," I agree.

"It would still be nice to have as many demons as this, but it's a pain in the ass because we're going to be stronger."

Liddy talks to Mel like she's sick of it too.

"Right. But it's dangerous for someone to get ahead of you, and you can't help it."

Until now, Dan had preceded him in detecting and bypassing the danger. Speaking of members this time, I or Beatrice can do the part, but then the avant-garde of the main unit will be reduced.

Liddy is also highly capable of fighting enemies, so he has the idea of letting her scout him, but there was a risk that he could not resist being challenged into a melee by a fast-moving demon. For that reason, we are proceeding without any scouts at the party today.
