Dream Life

Episode 42: Into the depths of Aquila

September 1.

We are in Riccadale, a village at the foot of the Aquila Mountains.

Riccadale is a pioneering village of about 800 inhabitants, made of two hundred meters of wood on one side, but protected by sturdy walls. The field is outside the fence, but there is also a rugged fence around its exterior, which ensures the safety of the once (...).

There are always about fifty first-rate adventurers here, exorcising demons constantly coming down from Aquila.

Peasants and hunters are also used to fighting demons, somewhat similar to the village of Rasmore. It's just not as peaceful as the village of Rasmore, it's a place where third-degree equivalent demons roar nearby, and only to the point of rest on the outer fence of the field.

By yesterday, the crusade for the surrounding demons had come to an end due to a request made by Adventurer Guild General Headquarters, and many demonic materials had been brought into the village.

Asked the adventurers involved, they said there were three equivalent multi-headed serpentine dragons (hydra), manticore, and even two equivalent compound beasts (chimeras), causing nearly twenty casualties.

Still, in addition to the demonic material, the look is bright because it comes with a special bonus.

Each of our eight parties will be headed for the Aquila Mountains. Seems like we could go together, but each of the adventurer's parties does it differently. For this reason, when forced into a joint team, rubbing occurs and the efficiency is unnecessarily diminished. That trend was strong enough, especially to be a veteran, and the Alliance didn't force them to create a joint team.

In addition, this time covert action was required, which meant that there was a desire not to make it a large number.

For once, the area in charge has been set, but we were supposed to go into the mountains before the other parties. This is to crusade a witnessed Great Demon.

I have a face-to-face meeting with the other parties yesterday. All but us were second-degree adventurers and the best adventurers around Periclitle.

I'm meeting in more detail with the party closest to our area of responsibility. This is just in case things get out of our hands, to work together to deal with them.

Its party leader is called Gladys, a man in his late thirties with a sharp eye and a tight body. Even as a swordsman, I stand on level 63 and my arms.

Contrary to appearance, personality is cheerful, even when we meet face to face.

"That's a brilliant harem party. I envy you, but you're all my daughter-in-law, right? I can't do this. Hahaha!" So much so that I've turned my hand around my shoulder laughing.

His party consists of two swordsmen, including him, and a total of six archers, archers, magicians, and healers each. Structurally, it is well balanced and, for the most part, can be dealt with.

They're all veterans over level fifty, and I'm not anxious to work with them because they've been doing it together for over a decade.

We make arrangements in the training area to verify our strength. Each and every one of us is inferior to us in strength, but we work well together as a team, and I'm convinced it's called superior given our experience around here.

Gladys also had a serious look at the time of the meeting.

"You guys are better up there with your arms, and your gear is exceptionally good. If we're going to fight a joint battle, you're going to be in charge."

I am told that pride leaves command to a high level secondary adventurer, and I lose my word.

"Am I in command? I don't know about Beatrice, but I'm afraid I don't have enough experience."

to my words. Gladys laughed with his nose, saying, "Say stupid,"

"If you're inexperienced, there's no such thing as an experienced guy. Especially when it comes to fighting."

"Are you sure? Confirm again."

"You're being worked out at that Lockhart house, and Beatrice admits you're the leader. Then, Zach, I can feel safer that you're in command."

That's what I said and nodded with a serious look, but I immediately laughed niggly,

"If you take command, you'll try to get us out of here first when it sucks, won't you? If Lockhart protects you in the Hall, your chances of survival are greatly improved. That's what I mean."

There is a bitter smile in those frank words. If I do take command, I'll think of letting Gladys' party slip away.

Still, I liked the fact that you were honest about it.

"Copy that. If that happens, I'll take command."

That's what I said, but I don't think that's likely to happen. Of course Gladys will be the same. Probably, but he was careful not to let us float in the third level. Because some people didn't feel comfortable having young builders like me, Mel, and Sharon at the meeting before we talked about this.

That happened, but I'll try the woods early this morning. I've never seen Rickadale before, but I'm getting a map, and I'm not so anxious because I hear from veterans about terrain, landmarks, etc.

The destination is thirty kilometers away, but today it is to go about fifteen kilometers and create a simple base with earthly attribute magic. This is what I suggested, so that the party that follows us brings supplies here with the luggage carrier (porter) and challenges Aquila Mountain in a relatively light state.

When I left, I carried a large back sac (backpack) so that it wouldn't be unnatural, but I threw it all into my storage magic (inventory) where I went into the woods. Being light-hearted made things go well through the woods.

I was just in September, but the heat was still there in the middle of summer. Still, Rickadale is not bitter enough because of its high altitude and deep forest.

Nor was it raided thanks to the crusade of demons until yesterday. It just feels like we're only going about two kilometers per hour because of the native forest that doesn't even have a beast path.

Still arrived that evening at the midpoint, the destination. A large yarn cedar tree stands to mark on the rocks along the gorge. There is a small cave about a kilometer away and it seems to be a place used for occasional nights (bibergs).

I won't use that cave this time. Because the Big Devil targeting the Adventurer may be aware of the place.

There is a place where the ground protrudes about two hundred meters away from the yarn fir, where we magically dig tunnels with earthly attributes. This task is familiar to me because I do it scattered when I build a reservoir in the village.

The entrance is small about one metre wide and one and five metres high, but the shelves are also made inside with a depth of twenty metres, a width of five metres and a height of about two and five metres. If it's this big, it can be used not only as a reservoir, but also as an emergency shelter for multiple parties.

A door made of stone creation (stone creator) was installed at the entrance and completed with an air hole for ventilation. The door is disguised as a natural rock, and if you just looked at it all the time, it just looks like a square rock buried on the ground.

"You're still good. You can really eat with this," Beatrice said with a laugh.

"I think so too," he laughs back, but it's already starting to get dark around here and he starts getting ready for camp.

Since Dan fell out, perimeter vigilance has become the business of me and Beatrice. Not as good as Dan's, but we can also install alarm devices, so we'll hurry up and install Naruto.

Nothing happened that night, and the next morning I left for the mountain of Aquila.

There are no decent maps from here on out, and we can only rely on the stories of the veterans. In their story, the altitude gradually rises, and some places we have to climb to crawl through a steep ridge to the collapsed cliff, which is the target point for now.

Even that morning went well, but I would start getting demonic raids from around the corner after noon. It also had many flying demons and was obsessively targeted on the ridge of a rock where only trees were grown.

The first one to strike was a fourth-grade equivalent of a winged lion (Griffon), which hit us with a sharp descent on the rock.

"Griffon's coming from behind!" Everyone looks back at Liddy's warning.

A huge body about three meters long and four meters long wings looms. We don't have time to magically intercept.

"Avoid it!" he exclaims, pulling out his sword to make me turn my attention.

Did Griffon recognize me as a prey, and after a squeaky voice with Pie, he spreads his huge beak wide and hits me?

Though I pulled out my sword, I didn't mean to intercept you, stupid honestly. unstable rocky, but avoid that giant at critical times.

Huge wings are about to be blown away by the wind that winds them up, but they definitely slash their wings. The unstable posture and the sturdy wings did not cause any damage, but Griffon rose with an abominable chirp.

"Sharon and Liddy ask for a blade tornado (tornado slash)! Beatrice and Mel need you to protect them both!

I shouted like that and shook my sword up loud to intimidate Griffon.

Griffon puts an angry eye on me for slashing his wings. U-turning over, he came straight.

With Griffon looming, two big tornadoes appear in front of me. Griffon, who was speeding up by a sudden descent, ran into the tornado shortly after avoiding it.

After a sad squeal called Pii, brown eagle wings are scattered. Shortly afterwards, Griffon's giant crashed into the rocks.

Griffon was still alive. He hurts his wings and bleeds from all over his body, but he stands firm on the front leg of a sturdy eagle and on the back leg of a thick lion, flying towards me.

But there was no rush for me.

Griffon, who has lost his ability to fly, is only as dangerous as a large beast. The anxiety element is an unstable scaffold, but intercepts it without wrapping magic around the sword.

He jumps at me in a supple motion like an animal in the cat family. Still not far into the velocity during a sudden descent, he avoided the attack by stepping sideways and slashed his neck with the temper of tearing.

The Adamantite sword of Dwarf famous Ulrich Drexler nicely severed Griffon's neck. The eagle's head falls to the rocks and the lion's body falls on the spot.

"Are you hurt," I heard Mel worried.

"I'll be fine," he replies, but immediately adds, "Let's just take the Demon Crystal and move quickly".

Many demons have attacked me ever since.

My liver got cold when I climbed up the ridge and was attacked by a herd of trolls, but by using magic I am knocking them out intact.

Others were attacked for the first time by big sasori demons, such as Iron Sasori (Iron Scorpion) and Thundersnake (Thundersnake), which wrapped thunder around their bodies. Our magic was drained to a great extent, although it was not a struggle because we dealt with it magically from a distance.

(We have only gone seven or eight kilometres, but it is dangerous to keep going. You should rest somewhere that looks safe)

When I tell Liddy and the others about it, they all agree.

"But at this rate, we can't have the rest of them. That's all we struggled with."

Sharon nods loudly at Beatrice's words.

"Right. I think even Mr. Gladys' party is tough. You should really crusade and go into the mountains."

"But that's tough, too," Mel said.

"I just saw a chill in the distance, but there was the first giant (cyclops). We pulled him off, but I think he'll catch up with a lot of people."

Mel was right, a cyclops nearly ten meters tall was on another ridge. When they found us, they chased us with tremendous momentum, but managed to escape by climbing the brittle cliffs with rope. If there were a lot of people, they would have grabbed it on the way up on the rope.

With all this bad scaffolding, the giant is more advantageous. If it had been somewhere else, the five of us would have fought a first-class equivalent of a big man. There's nothing you can't win if you fight, but you're in a worse state of out of magic than you are now, and you're more likely to take lag in your battle with other demons.

I managed to find a suitable rock shade for the camp that day, where I could rest.

The next day, we aim again for a place of purpose, but we are forced to decide whether to proceed or pull on too many demons.

"I think I should pull. I've been attacked five times in the morning alone. Besides, there is no Greater Demon. If they attack you in this situation, they'll do it before it's done properly."

Mel disagrees with Beatrice.

"But it's a destination in a little while. Why don't we go to our destination and then we can go back?"

As Mel says, as far as the map shows, you can reach the cliff, which is your destination in about three kilometers. It'll only take about three hours if you're in good shape right now.

Liddy was in favor of Beatrice and Sharon was in favor of Mel, passively.

"Let's pull it up once. Instead, this information should be communicated to a subsequent party. If we don't do this, there's a chance it'll all go away."

In my words, I have decided to withdraw.

He then heads to the place where he camped last night, but a large dragon (dragon) appears above him and is rushing to hide himself. Fortunately, the dragon didn't find it and got it all, but one wrong step could have wiped it out.
