Dream Life

Lesson 45: The Second Adventurer

afternoon of September 7th.

The investigation of the Aquila Mountains ended in failure. For this reason, we are returning to the village of Riccadale, the front line of the demonic crusade.

I was solicited in the morning by Randal Ogburn, an Adventurer Guild officer and head of defense for the city of Periclitle, to become an exclusive Adventurer for the Guild.

The conditions presented are broken, fully beneficial, but I hate and refuse the situation of being held by the Alliance in a situation where I don't know how the enemies of the gods will move.

I was relaxing at the inn today with the intention of hitting an all-day rest to heal the fatigue of the death fight until yesterday.

Such a neat call from the Adventurer Alliance asking us to come back again to confirm the reward.

The remuneration for the investigation should have been finalized and I can't see the story. I didn't seem to know the details when I asked the official who brought the message, and as soon as I told him what to do, he left.

"What is it? The reward must have been fixed."

"Right. I wonder if something happened with the reward for the crusade," Liddy also tilts his neck.

"I think I'll go anyway because I'm free," Beatrice stands up as she stretches.

She's right. I've got time, and I've decided to go because it's not a big distance.

When we got to the branch, Randall was waiting there.

"I'm sorry. I forgot to tell you something earlier," he says, grinning.

An official who was lying next to me said, "Can you give me your orb?" Orb is a demonic prop with personal information and is used not only in Adventurer and Mercenary guilds, but also in towns and villages.

When we're tilting our necks,

"Eight second-degree requests were accomplished. I'll rewrite your orb info."

So I recall the crusade clause of the Great Demon (Greater Demon) that was in the contract.

"The contract should apply only to the Great Demon?" When Randall laughs niggardly and puts out the contract.

Read the part you pointed at with your fingers when you said, "Read here."

"Only to the party of Lord Zacharias shall the crusade of the Great Demon be added as a request for a second degree. This request shall be accomplished according to the number of crusades and shall not be considered a failure if no crusade is made. Proof of Crusade shall be confirmed by Demonic Crystal Stone or admitted even if testimony is given by several secondary adventurers belonging to other parties. It should be noted that if the existence of the Great Demon could not be confirmed, it shall be regarded as a crusade of the Great Demon even if it is a demon with no equal or greater ability…"

So I look again at the part where the presence of the Great Demon could not be confirmed.

"Did you force yourself to read it in this part? This is the text that applies when the information about the Great Demon is misleading and it is more than a demon, such as a first-degree equivalent of an archdeacon."

"You can read that. But if you look at the text, it means that your party will be accomplished if you crusade any more demons than the Great Demon."

"Yes... I feel like I'm abusing my contract, so I'd rather not"

Although it may be said to be robust, I do not think that it should be read in such a way as to defeat (cheeks) the agreement reached at the time of drafting the contract. This is because the contract itself, it is impossible to make it assuming all the circumstances, and it is necessary to prevent them from being re-read to their detriment.

Besides, admitting this, it looks like we're the only ones being treated preferentially, and we could get complaints from other parties.

"Well, don't say that. The contract also says," In the event of unexpected events, both parties shall consult and decide. "

It is true that there is a clause in the general consultation. When I tried to argue, I held it down with my eyes and persuaded him even more.

"Besides. If it weren't for your activism, I'd probably have lost half of the first-rate guys. Consider this a special reward (bonus). Besides, we have an agreement with the rest of the party. Of course, everyone agrees"

I'm more surprised than surprised at how hand-wound it is.

"Is that why it took so long..."

"Your prowess isn't third grade. This isn't just my opinion, it's what the others have admitted. The point is, I just became a strong grader."

I can't honestly take it, even if they say so, it seems to have a back. When I was on tour, Sharon said, "Wouldn't that be nice?"

"That's what I'm saying..."

"It's easier to get alliances and other parties to work with you if you're in second grade. Besides, if the Alliance has done something in bad faith in a way like this one, then I think we should respond with the intention of crushing the Alliance."

Sharon smiles and says so, sending a chilling glance at Randall.

"Whoa, hey," he laughs bitterly, but soon becomes true,

"I don't care what I do with you guys on a contract. I mean, if I get my hands on you guys, I turn the blacksmith guild and the Kaum kingdom against my enemies. That's not all, you guys are connected to the Sorcerer's Guild, the Mercenary Guild, and even the senior nobility of the Giving Empire. There's no way the Adventurer Alliance can get your hands on you guys."

What Randall says is not a big deal. I'm not motivated, but it can be as easy as crushing the Adventurer Alliance if I get serious. And Sharon wouldn't hesitate to do it the moment he decided it would do me harm.

That's where I'm going to look at Liddy and the others.

Liddy says, "Isn't that okay," and Beatrice doesn't care, "Isn't it just a little early?"

Mel said, "Me too, second degree?" I'm surprised, "he noticed my gaze and nodded forcefully," I agree, too.

"Okay. Then we decide to take this story. But don't do this again. Because you're going to have mistrust about an organization called Adventurer Alliance."

That's what I'll say and stab the nail.

"Okay, okay," Randall laughs bitterly, "I'm usually honestly happy," he zeroes.

Pass the orb to the official in order to carry out the procedure. Officials took it and headed to another room.

"By the way, what are we gonna do tomorrow?" Randall asked.

"I haven't decided yet."

"Will you go into the mountains again? We can't just leave the missing persons' investigation alone."

"I sure don't think we can leave it alone, but it's hard considering the situation up until yesterday"

So Randall turns from feeling so floating to a serious look.

"I'll accompany you. Still no good."

Randall is a level eighty swordsman, and he's amazing compared to his grandfather, Govan. Plus, he's a former third-degree adventurer and has plenty of experience in the woods and mountains.

"He's the best help, but we have our way, so I refuse."

Reliable helper but too much constraint when paired with someone other than the Lockhart family. In particular, the inability to use storage magic (inventory) is a major disadvantage.

If it's a relationship I can trust a little more, I can tell you the existence of storage magic, but I don't trust you enough to tell you secrets.

"Right," Randall dismays.

"I'm not going to take the request, but I'm going into the mountains. How about we contact the Alliance when we get information about the Great Demon or the missing person in the process"

"It would help if you did. This time, the guild leader (Reginald) took the lead and discredited the veterans. Reginald isn't a bad guy either, but he's over-conscious about protecting Periclitle. I don't know."

Adventurer Alliance guild leader Reginald Warbeck is also a former adventurer, with some ties to us.

Seven years ago, after rescuing Luna, he was a magician in command when he was heading to the village of Thysek for a reconnaissance. Though I completely forgot until I could tell you about it after the meeting.

"But what are you going to do now? Mr. Gladys said he was going back to Periclitle."

Of the eight groups of parties that participated in this survey, five were originally based in Riccadale. However, we have lost party members or damaged weapons and protective equipment in this investigation, most of which are to return to Periclitle.

There are parties below the third level, but it would be a huge pain to have all the top adventurer parties gone.

"My head hurts. It's a problem. I guess they'll be back in a few months, but in the meantime..."

It's not a question of how we can do this, but as an Adventurer Guild, it would be a headache. Randall, in particular, is also the head of defense for the city of Periclitle and is probably concerned that he will be unable to investigate in circumstances where the existence of the Demon Nation is suspected.

Because the absence of a good party could lead to a situation that threatens the safety of the city.

Talking about that, the officials came back.

"Congratulations. He's the youngest second-degree adventurer of all time," he gives me the orb.

It is generally said that to become a second-degree adventurer requires more than sixty years of strength and twenty years of experience. It shows that the level requires the ability to perform second-degree equivalent requests, and for the number of years of experience, the time required to perform the number of requests for promotion.

So promotion to the second level is young but in the early thirties. Very few people can become adventurers called the most first-rate above the third level, and most often stop below the fourth level.

I don't know the exact numbers, but it is said that the youngest of the second grades so far is about thirty-two years old. I mean, I would have updated that record by the age of nearly ten.

If you ask me if that's why I can be a first-degree adventurer, I'll have to say it's not an easy story.

Conditions for promotion must accomplish 100 requests equivalent to the current grade. One upper level counts for ten requests at a time, but you still have to do ten requests for a higher level than yourself.

In other words, in order to move up to the first level, 100 requests for the second level, or ten successful requests for the first level, are required.

However, that second level request itself, is small in number. This is because second-degree equivalent demons live deep in the mountains and rarely come down near people.

I want you to remember here that Adventurer Guild's job is to protect “people” from demons. In other words, demons in the back of the mountain that do not appear to be harmed are not subject to crusade requests. So no matter how much you crusade a second-degree demon, it won't be treated as an achievement unless a request has been made, and you can't be promoted.

There are only a dozen second-degree equivalent requests a year here in Rickadale. Some other second-degree adventurers naturally fit together.

We specialize in crusades in our case, so many of you may get more than others, but still if you can accomplish three or four a year. There are only five requests per year, as there are about ten requests for tertiary equivalent. In other words, you'll need twenty years to accomplish a hundred requests.

Without such irregular accomplishments as this one, my promotion would have been as early as later next year. On the assumption, of course, that we will continue to receive requests in Periclitle and Rickadale.

That means that there was an anomaly in achieving the equivalent of eight requests for the second level, or 80 requests for the third level, and it was promoted at once.

"And you're in your early twenties, second degree? That and the three of them. The history of the Alliance has changed."

That's how Randall slaps me on the shoulder and makes fun of me.

"You may be busy too, so the first level may be difficult, but if you have a crusade-related problem, I'll give it priority as a first level request."

"Give me a break about that," I have to laugh.

"Dragon" is the most important thing that comes to mind when it comes to first-degree demons.

It's also a fierce guy who causes damage to the town, usually called “Evil Dragon”. I just have trouble getting my opponent's crusade turned around as a priority.

Other high-ranking demons of the demonic (demon) system known as the "1st Giant (Cyclops)" or "Demon General (Arc Demon)" defeated by his brother become first class. None of them are opponents going in a single strip.

"Somehow, but I feel like something bad is happening. There may be more requests for crusades without jokes, so please do so then."

It wasn't light-hearted until then, it was a serious look.

When the discussion with Randall was over, Gladys and other second-degree adventurers were gathered in the guild's hall.

Gladys slaps me on the shoulder with a bassin when he says, "You're in second grade."

"Now it's one of us. If it gets any worse again, please."

"I'll always talk to you if you don't know. Whatever you do, you've saved my people."

I get one voice after another like that.

Later, Gladys was taken to the inn where they were staying and went straight into the banquet.

"The beer here is delicious," Gladys says, swordsman Ronnie shaking his head small.

"Do you know these two names?

"Aren't you Prince Harlem of all directions? No, there was the Darkness Swordsman's Darkness Sword Wizard."

"No,“ he said, "the son of Scotchgod." That's what the Dwarves call it. You can serve alcohol to a guy like that a lot. "

"No, you heard that," Gladys solidifies.

"I like good liquor, but I think it's best to drink in this fun atmosphere. So never mind."

That's what I say and put my mouth on the jock. "It's delicious," she said naturally with a fragrant ale at this time of year, just over the summer.

"Right. Then eat this guy too" and they serve meat.

Speaking of second-class adventurers, they face their ease. You noticed from my expression, Peter the Archer explained it to me while recommending a plate of sausage.

"You've become one of us, too. In a real way."

"Is that what you really mean?

"That's right. As you can see from this one, we get a lot of dangerous requests. I can't compare it to the third level. A lot of people take requests like that jointly. I mean, the second-degree guys are important to us, even if it's another party."

The second-degree adventurers are more companion than the other adventurers when they listen. Of course, we don't always get requests together because we do things differently from party to party, but because there are comparable expeditions like this one, which can be described as a relationship of depositing lives.

"You were only in third grade and you helped us. That's why I got on with Mr. Randall's story about taking you guys up to second level. Keep it coming, Zach."

"You've never known it before. I didn't really care about Doctus, but it wouldn't be weird to think that around here."

He's also the first to know about veteran Beatrice.

The banquet then continued until late at night.
