Dream Life

Episode 49: Shadow of the Enemy

January 21st.

Due to the healing of the undead disturbances, we decided to head to investigate the Aquila Mountains. Check with the Adventurer Alliance to see if there are any requests for research as they go to get information.

"Don't you have a request to investigate in the mountains of Aquila? I think we need to find out what caused the undead disturbance."

"I do care about that, but not now. In other words, I don't want Zach and the others to be forced into the mountains and stay in Riccardale."

As receptionists worry, many of the second-degree adventurers raised to Periclitle in the September survey, and are still not fully back.

There were five pairs of second-degree adventurers before, but only two, including us, are here now. It's a second-degree party other than ours, but the Gladys we helped during the investigation. Gearing up at Periclitle and coming back around November.

For this reason, the secondary adventurer who puts him in the depths of Aquila is more valuable than before, assuming some anomaly occurs, and he wants him to stay as far away from Rickadale as possible.

It's just a “favor” from the guild, no compulsion.

"I think it's supposed to be about the Alliance taking the initiative to look into it. Because this is all that's going on."

The staff laughed bitterly at my dislike, "I know that,"

"The investigation and crusade in September was a huge failure. Whatever Mr. Zach's place is, because as much as Mr. Gladys has declared that he will not receive a request to nominate an Alliance. Well, thanks for coming back."

Many veterans have been lost in the September investigation and crusade. I hope that's all, but the intelligence gathering was sweet for a mandatory request, and the loss of fellowship because of it led many parties to distrust the guild and alienate the dangerous Rickadale.

As a result, excellent parties will no longer go into the back of the woods, and even less information will be available. We were in a vicious circle where this lack of information further increased distrust.

I've looked at a lot of things, but I don't have any requests I can take, and I decide to go into Aquila's Mountain without pay. Nothing, I'm not having trouble with the money, so there's no problem, and I'm more concerned about the back of the woods than that.

We left the fence and headed east, but there were many remains of decaying undead, creepy as the tracks of the battlefield. When it comes to battlefield tracks, it doesn't come with blood paste, so it doesn't feel miserable, and it feels like rejection is adding to the creeps.

The look on my, Beatrice's and Liddy's faces gets worse as we approach Aquila's mountain.

"Don't you feel watched," Beatrice nodded as she glanced over the back of the woods, "I think so too," Liddy said.

"I feel like that, too. You might want to pull it off once, but I want to see what kind of guy he is."

"Isn't it dangerous," Sharon disagrees.

"I don't know how many, but not many. If you're the enemy of the gods, it's more dangerous to leave them alone."

Four people snort at my opinion.

That day goes further than usual north, getting ready for camp early.

"Build a basement and we'll all go in"

"You mean you don't keep an eye on the outside. That's a bag of rats," Beatrice asked.

"That's right. Instead, seal the entrance completely so you can't come in."

"Okay. It's to attract those on watch," Sharon said.

"That's right. Tomorrow morning, I'll make another exit and get out of there. If you're about thirty meters away, you won't be ambushed."

"What if they can explore this place another way? Vlad was spotting a tunnel ambush."

When the village of Rasmore was attacked by the great army of the Undead, an ambush was carried out using a tunnel dug by the Necromancer (Rich) to defeat Vlad Varonos, king of the Undead. At that time, Vlad was detecting us emerge from the tunnel.

"You can't see the power of the earth spirits if you dig deep. It could be after our magic, but I think it's okay because it's shadow-stoked magic."

Liddy doesn't look convinced, "Yes, but".

"I think it's safer than camping normally," Mel persuades Liddy.

One word from Mel decided to implement it.

As usual, build a basement with earthly attribute magic. This time I will also use a place raised like a hill to dig holes horizontally.

Depth is about twenty meters. However, keep the interior narrow enough for five people to manage to get in. I don't make air holes. Because it was only for one night, and with the magic props of the lights, we would not use fire, and we thought that if we put in the passage part, even if it was narrow, we would be able to secure enough oxygen.

Return to the entrance, make a door for disguise, open and close several times to show, then go inside and secure from the inside. Build more walls on the back to keep them out of the way immediately.

It's dangerous to have no escape, so create a passage to use for escape. However, not all, leave the last ten meters or so.

After making toilets and such, I decided to rest early.

The next morning, in the body clockwise, he wakes up after 8 a.m., eats and then prepares to escape.

"If you connect the tunnel outside, keep illuminating me with the magic props of the lights. Get Shadowstoke ahead of you and go outside."

The only reason I didn't do it early in the morning as usual was because I wanted to use Shadowstoke and because my enemies were in a hurry.

Digging tunnels with earthly attribute magic.

It came to my mind that while I slowly proceeded through the tunnel on the dirt wall, the soldiers in the trench battle also had no benefit in whether this would have been the case. Turn it off immediately and give instructions to Liddy and the others in a whisper.

"Connect to the outside. Prepare to fight at any time."

The lead continues with me, Beatrice, Mel, Sharon and Liddy.

Shadowstoke out, but no particular reaction. face out of the tunnel, but there was no ambush.

Tell him to check the entrance on the other side of the hill with a hand sign and crawl closer to the crawl forward.

When I looked at the entrance from between the grasses, I found from the top of the tree that the Great Demon was watching the entrance with three bodies and someone like the Winged Demon tribe.

(I was still watching... you seem willing to attack... I tried to take an ambush and annihilate you, but the Great Demon is dangerous, anyway. I can tell from here that it feels bad. We should retreat here for good......)

Tell him to retreat with a hand sign and quietly escape. During his escape, he put a lid on the tunnel he dug and set up a harassment trap.

After doing it about enough, we leave the hill. They didn't seem to have to be noticed well, and the signs of surveillance they felt yesterday had disappeared.

We took a break from walking west for about an hour, but everyone exhaled simultaneously from the tension.

"Who is he? I felt as bad as Vlad."

Beatrice squeezes out a slightly plundered voice.

"I got the same feeling," Mel says wiping his sweat. Looks like cold sweat, not normal sweat.

"Assuming you're a Demon, it means you have a good deal of use. If magic works, we can handle it, but you better think of it as someone who doesn't work like Vlad."

So Sharon raised his hand small and asked to speak.

"I think they're pretty strong, but they don't seem to have the ability to detect. Wouldn't it be possible if we didn't even get ambushed?"

"Yeah, I kind of wish I could definitely explore the signs..."

"So here's a suggestion, why don't you call my brother? If you have a brother, you can reduce your chances of being ambushed at once."

Indeed, with the genius of scouts, Dan, the risk of being ambushed drops all at once. However, he decided to assume his responsibilities as a man of the Jakes family, the minister of the Lockhart family. The decision was accompanied by great pain. Especially about Mel. I wonder if I can do something to overturn that decision.

"I agree with Sharon. He's too dangerous."

"I agree. Dan is a much better scout than me or you or Beatrice."

Only Mel said nothing, but his eyes were pleading for safety to be considered.

"Right. But first, let's ask the Alliance to cooperate in the crusade. Fighting at a couple of parties might help."

In the end, I couldn't make up my mind to call Dan.

So I thought about the idea of putting in a second-degree adventurer party just like September. Because demons aren't activated like they were last time.

Finish your break and head back to Riccadale and head to the Guild Branch with that leg.

I made a report that I saw the Great Demon and demon-like figures,

"I think we should organize a crusade. And as soon as possible."

The branch manager came out with the keyword Demon Nation, but the story of the Crusaders didn't come on board right away.

"I think it's hard. Few guys will come on the story."

The September failure did not take the form of a mandatory request, and the answer was that even if we put it out as a normal nomination request, no one would challenge the enemy we consider dangerous.

"In the meantime, I will contact the General Headquarters. And then the adventurers here will be given information and alerted. That's all I can do right now."

It was the expected conclusion, but the total headquarters would not be able to move either.

When this happens, we just have to ask the Lockhart family to send Dan.

But Dan just finally forgot about Mel. No, there may still be untrained.

Thinking about it, I can't help but worry if it's a good thing to have him come.

(If you think about the world, it's best to have Dan come. But are you sure? A year and a little while away from Mel. I'm just finally settling in, but if you call me here, I don't like it. But you're gonna see us. I was hoping to put some more time aside...)

After worrying, I wrote to Dan and my father and decided to leave it to their discretion.

Ashtal, the Demon General (Arch Demon), heard that he had found Zacharias and others from the Great Demon (Greater Demon) under his command, and hurried himself to sacrifice himself.

(Good timing. There are no intrusive adventurers around. We can handle it alone...)

We joined the big demon of the watchman, but it was already after Zacharias and the others entered the basement.

"I'm in that. That square rock is the door."

The Great Demon explains it in a deaf voice.

"That's a brilliant thing. If you ask me, I have no idea where the entrance is. It's too late to sacrifice."

Ashtal praises Zacharias for the way he made the entrance with his spare face.

"Tomorrow morning we shall have a full screen. Don't let the demons get near you."

He didn't think the Zacharias were aware of themselves. The Great Demon's surveillance skills were not high, but he was grasping the information that there was no specialized scourge, and he recognized that it was a party that specialized in combat by actually seeing him fight from afar.

Zacharias was concerned about his ability to see the power of the Spirit, but Ashtal had the same ability as Lydiane. But I couldn't see it all the way into the dirt and never realized I was building a tunnel on the other side.

In the morning, suspicious that the sun will not come out when it is high, make the Great Demon check the door.

"Door won't open," he reports, going down and down.

Ashtal confirms, the door doesn't move exactly like a rock,

"You really got in here! reprimand."

When the Great Demon said for sure, he began to destroy rocks with earthly attribute magic. Destroying the door, it was in the aisle, but there was a rock wall further behind it, tickling the tongue.

Are you going to castle? No, you got out?

Though I think so, I will soon destroy the rock walls as well.

I also destroyed that rock wall and thought about going inside,

(Is it also a trap? Well, I don't know if it hurts me, but just in case...)

It's dark inside, but there's no obstacle because of the good night's eye. The narrow passage means we put the Great Demon ahead of us and follow behind us. It smelled like charcoal burned slightly.

(Did you use fire?

The moment I thought about it, the Great Demon fell. And I was unconsciously poking one knee myself.

(What happened?... poison!

That's what I think, I immediately hang the magic of detoxification on myself and lag behind.

Outside, but the first great demon to fall didn't come out much longer.

"I didn't know you were going to use poison!" He threw up and ordered the remaining Great Demon to explore his surroundings, and himself began to dig holes from the top of the hill.

I'm not good at earthly attributes, but penetrate the ceiling area and peek inside.

There was nothing suspicious about just burning charcoal there.

"You used poison? No smell, no mist. My strange poison... but he's horrible. I didn't know you would notice us and try to fit into a trap..."

Ashtal didn't notice, but the hand Zacharias used is carbon monoxide poisoning. Burn carbon in confined spaces and increase carbon monoxide concentration. It was unknown how long it would take and to what extent it would work for the Great Demon, and as Zacharias it was meant to be harassing, but it had made a great achievement of bringing the Great Demon together.

Ashtal was escaped by the Zacharias after losing the Great Demon.

He decided to summon his family. Zacharias defeated the Great Demon One before realizing it, but was to increase his enemies more than that.
