Dream Life

Episode 60: Preparing for the Showdown

Around 6pm on March 26th.

In the evening, my grandfathers fought the Great Demon. I wondered if I could lose without the Great Demon, hands or feet, a second-degree equivalent demon, before the overwhelming power of the Lockhart family.

But at the last moment, the Great Demon has launched a suicide bomb attack. That explosive power was powerful enough to make you think your life would be in danger if you got involved.

Fortunately, my grandfather, Govan, noticed the anomaly as soon as possible, and those nearby were able to evacuate, so there was no great damage, but he learned to fight to abandon his own life and try to sharpen his power.

Discuss dealing with enemies over dinner.

"Terrible enemy. Considering that there are two more great demons, we have to rethink the way we fight."

The number of great demons we have been able to confirm is three. I've only seen two of them here lately, so they could have been knocked down in battle with other demons, but I can't be alarmed because I can also think of leading a separate task force.

The operation we're trying to pick is to lure our enemies into the base we're in and destroy them all. But if your opponent could have a suicide bomb attack, you need to rethink it.

If they explode so much in this narrow basement, it's to take damage from shock waves, even if there's a shield.

"Right. Besides, I think the enemy noticed we were lurking around here on this one. Then, as your uncle said, you might want to rethink the way you fight."

Sharon raises his hand when I say so. When my grandfather nodded small and allowed himself to speak, he began to speak in a small voice.

"Once, why don't we move it somewhere else? We are defeating the Great Devil, and we are defeating three demons. I think it's a bad achievement as an operation to cut enemy power. But if we stay here, the enemy's main force will attack us. Wouldn't it be better to have an ambush somewhere else?"

"It makes sense," my grandfather said fine, seeing everyone's face before denying the idea.

"It's no use moving around. The enemy is aware of us. If you get attacked while on the move, it's definitely going to be more dangerous than this one."

Liddy disagrees with my grandfather.

"I agree with Sharon. Even if we intercept in this place, it's reckless to fight in the basement against someone who can unleash all that power. Besides, there's no escape here."

So Byron raised his hand and asked to speak. When my grandfather admits it, he turns his gaze to me.

"I would like to ask Master Zacharias, is there any way to contain that explosion"

I was thinking about it, too.

"It would be difficult to contain the explosion itself. At that hour, the magic of the rock wall (Rockwall) won't make it. Besides, I don't know if I can stop the explosion by killing him instantly."

"Then you have no hands."

"No, it's not like we don't have a response"

Everyone turns their gaze to my words.

"You don't have to let yourself blow up when you knock it down"

"That's right......" Byron is puzzled by the overly obvious answer.

"He blew himself up to take my uncles on the road. If his master or superior were nearby, he wouldn't take the option of suicide bombing. If they can't take us on the road, they won't blow themselves up."

"Does that mean that if you fight the Great Demon, you think it's going to blow yourself up, and you just have to take us down at a time when you can't take us on the road... I feel like that's a difficult order for all those enemies..."

"It's hard indeed, but I think we can work it out if we think we're going to blow ourselves up"

In fact, if you deal with him again, it's possible to take him down so he doesn't blow himself up.

It's only out of the realm of reasoning, but that explosion would have used the runoff of the power of the Spirit.

Magic is what gives the spirits purpose and causes them to make the necessary events, but magic runs wild when they try to take out only the power of the spirits without giving them a clear purpose. Studies such as the School of Magic have revealed that the phenomenon of explosion occurs at that time.

For example, the more Liddy warns that he sees the power of the Spirit, the more magic he can stab a stop before he gives it away.

If it still explodes, it's another factor, but you have about ten seconds before the explosion, so you can't get away with it if you make an evacuation spot in advance.

For example, if you dig a hole like a lid that can be used for a showdown, you can avoid at least being affected by a blast.

Then you can think of a way to deal with the Great Demon's suicide bombing.

"I'll take care of it," I answered confidently.

It's subtle if you can handle it with certainty, but you don't have to make everyone anxious.

"Then the plan to lure you underground is a continuation. Zach, how long till we're done?

"It will be done to the extent that we can fight it by tomorrow morning. If you want to set up a trap, it feels like tomorrow evening or later."

As far as I'm concerned, I want to set up a trap wherever possible.

I don't know how much demons and demonic demons lead to battles in underground labyrinths (dungeons), but a trap that uses the knowledge of the original world should work for about once.

Whether it is called a means of relief or not, I intend to do whatever is possible. We need materials and time to do that. The material is thrown into the storage magic (inventory), so we can handle it, but the problem is time.

I don't know what way the enemy is fighting him, but I'm sure you know where and who he dispatched. When that happens, it will be only a matter of time before we find this place with our hands if we confirm the route through which the scouts who did not return pass.

It's my own prediction, but if we lose even the main force, the Great Demon, the owner of rational thought moves with the greatest power. Then there will definitely be an enemy's best friend, a pitch-black demon-like man, who discovered us from a distance. If he leaves, they'll find him even if he's hiding.

"Then I ask you to work with more attention to the amount of magic left over than you do now. Forget your magic will be the key."

"Copy that. Always leave about 70%. Still, the time it takes to complete remains almost the same."

The completion time will remain the same, but my work interval will be shorter, work thirty minutes, and rest three hours. It's a delicate time to get out of exhaustion altogether, but I'm used to this degree of impossibility because I do it in alcohol-related work.

Thinking of it this way, I have come to think that liquor brewing is also useful in the fight against the enemies of the gods.

"Is he coming out?" Dan remarked.

"If you think about it in common sense, it'll come out," my grandfather replies.

"Will that make Mr. Hector's placement okay as it is now? There's no escape from that place."

Hector and the other archers were lurking on the southern slopes of the valley and hanging ambushes. However, if you have highly detectable parent balls, an ambush can be difficult and vice versa, threatening to destroy each. Dan was concerned about it.

That's what I'm saying. He's dangerous, too.

Dan and Guy, the scouts, keep an eye on the surroundings from the top of the cliffs in the valley. For that reason, if they are also found, there is no escape route.

"You do have that concern. When I say that, you and Guy are in danger, too. Dear uncle, what will you do?

My grandfather also notices and conceives Dan's concerns, but Hector gave his opinion first.

"We're going to be in that place. However, I would ask Lydia and Sharon to move to the ground."

Hector says so with a lucid look.

I suggested not to lose the magician, who is the main power.

Three of the same archers, Mark, Freddie and Jake, are also smiling and nodding at the opinion of the esteemed Hector.

I don't know what he thinks. But I don't.

Attacks with bows become less powerful at once when launched. Therefore, it is better to attack from a slightly higher position.

But while magic can make launches unfavourable, it doesn't always make attacks from below unfavourable. Especially Sharon's magic is a lot like ignoring gravity, and he probably thought it would be better to place it on the ground with a high chance of survival.

My grandfather clouds his expression for a moment on Hector's suggestion, but he approved it by saying "please". As a grandfather, I made a painful choice to increase my chances of winning a little.

In my current operation, I plan on deciding on a female male in the basement I made. The basement itself is narrow, and in a situation where there are more than ten swordsmiths and magicians, there is no turnout for archers. On the contrary, it is too narrow and even threatens to hinder action. So I guess you admitted the Hector's suggestion.

But I disagree with that.

"Archers can also be useful in underground combat"

"What do you mean?

"The ceiling of the basement, which is the battlefield, is raised in height, so you can attack from the rear with just a little finishing"

"But isn't it only outdoors that we can take advantage of the bow's properties?

That's what Hector's been against. He questioned the advantages of a long bow, abandoning ranged attacks.

"No, even this time with Hector's arms will give the enemy a chance to preempt attack. Whatever it is, the other guy sensed our signs as early as five hundred meters. They'll wipe it out with flame-based magic from the top."

After that, I make further suggestions to my grandfather.

"We had better show the wind that while we feared a magical attack, we could not move because we feared being pursued in the woods. There is no winning eye for what we fought on the ground, and it feels like escaping into the basement without stopping. 'Cause all of a sudden it's like saying there's a trap."

"Uhm......" my grandfather roars.

"I agree with Master Zach, too," Sharon remarks.

"There is also a risk that everyone will go into a narrow area and get a grip on it, but I don't think it will help if that enemy targets us even in a wide area. The enemy wouldn't be afraid of us if he had all that power, too. So we should keep trying to lure them underground."

My grandfather nods in Sharon's words saying "um," but I don't make decisions. Sharon goes on to explain further.

"There are many and two enemies who can fight at once if they go underground. Conversely, if you choose a good location, you can increase the hassle by four people in the avant-garde, plus if the magician can attack from behind. And if you can secure height, you may also be able to attack by an archer."

Did Sharon's persuasion work, "Fine. I'm going with Zach's proposal," my grandfather decided.

We were also to join the intercepting force on the ground about the Dans. This is because no matter how powerful Dan and his enemies are, they can discover this one first. Assuming that pitch-black demon doesn't come, it doesn't change to luring him to the ground, so he doesn't need to watch from the top of the cliff.

I did the basement finishing that night.

Firstly, attach a well-sealed door to the aisle that leads to the back of the room you have been using as your base. It also puts a door on the scene of an earlier showdown bent on the L Strip.

Not only did this door assume that tangled hands such as poison fog and smoke would be used, but it also became part of the trap.

Also make two rock walls three meters high, two meters wide and about twenty centimeters thick in a place around the center of the showdown field. Build two more rock walls in the back about two meters further.

The first row is a shooting platform for ranged attacks, which makes a shelf about a meter wide about two meters high, and this is the shooting platform. You will expose your torso, but if you kneel, you can prevent the magic of your enemies. The stairs for lifting and lowering are also built beside each other so that the ascent and descent can be smoothed.

The second row is for suicide bombers. If you see signs of suicide bombing, retreat to the second row and escape inside the wall.

This rocky wall continues up to the ceiling, but it has an opening for the passage, which prevents any shock waves from spinning in. But I can prevent direct hits, and I make tricks for once.

The night of March 27th dawned.

My grandfathers, who finished breakfast, came to see what they could do.

"At this height, you'll be fine with a long bow," says Hector, satisfied with his user-friendliness while tapping the shielding wall.

"It's more like a castle than a basement," my grandfather nods contentedly.

Imagine and build a castle defense facility, as my grandfather would say. Even so, I'm not familiar with the castle myself, so it's just an image.

"All you have to do is set a trap watching the magic. Think about the placement inside and the order of travel while I'm resting. I think we should practice a few times, if possible."

"Right. Think about it"

After that, I'll take a break until after lunch. I still don't see any enemies today, and my grandfathers were encouraging me to train assuming enemies.

Eat a meal and do the work again to see how that goes.

(You've been using all the earthly attribute magic the last few days. That's what happened when I built an underground reservoir in the village, but you're more of a civil than an adventurer...)

With that in mind, I encourage you to make traps.

We set up traps other than pitfalls because we can come up with some ideas, but we don't know which one works for demons in the demonic system.

In the end, there was no enemy reconnaissance or raid.

In the evening, I saw a complete explanation to my grandfathers.

First, show the back door by hand in a place for rest that was there from the beginning.

"The door here is open inside. When the last person closes completely, you can no longer tell the rock from the..."

Even when it comes to rock doors, not everything is rock. There's a thin plate of rock on the outside of the wooden door. If you look closely, you can see the square frame lukewarmly, but you can't tell by a puff because it puts the same muscle in the surrounding walls.

It's a wooden door, but it was stored in a storage magic (inventory). Because it is convenient when camping, I always carry about three pieces.

"It's as brilliant as ever," Nicholas admires. The others look frightened, but they don't care.

Once in the aisle, turn on the light magic props installed on the wall.

"The aisle is a little down. Be very careful with your feet."

"Why are you staying back?" Grandfather asks.

"It's for use in a trap, but I'd rather just me and Sharon know, so I'll keep quiet now"

"Prepare for someone's capture."

And enter the room that will be the showdown ground ahead.

"As you already know, this room is built with a narrow entrance and a wider back"

And with a light knock on the door,

"The door opens to the side of the room, but I basically leave this door open. If you close it, it closes naturally if you can pull the string there and have the stopper removed. It is a very heavy door, so be aware that once you close it you will have difficulty opening it"

This door should be about 1 and 5 meters wide, 2 and 5 meters high and about 30 cm thick and weigh about three tons. The metal hinge (hinge) just couldn't be made, so the rock is processed and made. Since it is polished up, it is possible to open and close it, but it is very heavy in relation to the coefficient of friction.

"This has to do with the trap, too."

"Exactly."

We will then check the space between the shield and the shield for defense. This is about fifteen meters deep and the widest place is five meters. About three swordsmen in the avant-garde and two magicians in the middle guard can move fully.

Also, because there is space in the rear, it is easy to take turns.

"Is it just right to fight side by side? Walt and Byron have plenty of room to move."

"Right. At this height, I shake it all I want," Byron responds to his grandfather's words.

"Now it's the Great Demon's suicide bomber. It's best not to let it blow itself up, but just in case, run behind the shield on the back."

There are two spaces about two meters wide and four meters deep, so even twenty people can manage to get in.

"When you get in, activate this magic prop," he says, pointing to a wooden board with a large demonic crystal stone. There are two things that can be manipulated from either left or right.

"I wish I could use some magic. So, what happens?

"A transparent wall appears. It's the same principle as the windows we use for carriages."

This demon prop is a wind attribute demon prop used in carriage windows. Previously, I modified the transparent shield I had in mind when making soundproof magic props, which I could prevent if it was about an arrow.

"I use a second-degree demonic crystal stone, but it runs for about thirty seconds. It's double and even stronger, but it doesn't necessarily prevent it for sure. Keep your head down, block your ears, open your mouth and bear with it."

It spreads objects that were originally about the size of a large tower shield to a height of two meters wide by one meter. It has increased its intensity by less than a third of its operating time, but it remains anxious to withstand the impact of the explosion.

"And then there's the aisle for retreat, but it's about forty melts long. The exit is about sixty melts of rock shade east of the entrance. Note that it is uphill"

The aisle for retreat is bent to the L-shape after going straight for about thirty meters. It also rises about seven meters to make it difficult for the grounddragons to ambush at the exit.

After explaining the passage, we'll talk about the final finish.

"Please pull this lever on the last person to escape"

"What happens when you pull?

"The door stopper comes off and closes automatically. There are other tricks, but I won't reveal this now either"

Escape means a critical situation. Probably more than half of them have been hit. The only way to reverse it in that situation is to devise bold measures.

"All will behave in narrow places. Everyone needs to move agile, so those who can't move need to be prepared to abandon them. Please understand that."

"Whatever. That enemy can't even fight if he's not ready to stab me wrong. If we're going to take them down..."

Everyone was renewing their resolve in my grandfather's words.
