Dream Life

Episode Two: Dan's Visit to Wellburn: Previous

April 20th.

I'm leaving for Welburn today.

On the side stands fiancée Eleanor Masefield, behind which three squire members, Jail Bucks, Eric Curse and Harry Neeson refrain, plus two young vigilantes, Bill and Dennis, behind him. Jail is the same twenty-four as I am, and the others are twenty to twenty-three and younger than I am.

In front of us is the Rockhart family, including our predecessors and Zach, who will escort us on our journey.

"Tell Lord Borderline, Lord Oldham and Lord Masefield my regards"

Receive three seals from your palace.

My wedding greeting was the purpose of this journey, but I had an important role as a messenger to the Raswell Border House.

This was conceived by Master Zach as a reminder of the imperial chaos if the enemies of the gods leap in.

"Even if I change my life, I will try to fulfill my messenger's duties."

When I answered seriously, Master Zach laughed.

"Apart from the messengers. The important thing is to get Elena to be my wife."

Your palace was similarly smiled at and laughed "Zach is right".

"Please be careful. This one's gonna be fine."

That's what Lydia said, and she held me in her arms as lightly as she did when I was a kid.

Somehow it smells sweet and my face gets hot, but I say yes and leave.

My father and mother both greet each other and ride on horses down Kanga Hill.

The horse is a frog horse from the Humane Horse clan, and I ride a stunning military horse with black deer hair. It's a waste to me that I'm not very good at fighting on horseback, but I'm going to ride at the behest of your palace.

The horse Elena rides is also a famous horse, with crisp furry deer hair, white forehead and toe and elegance.

Each of the three squires has also been given a brilliant military horse, which he thinks will stand out on Als and Aurelia streets.

Their gear is also a prominent factor.

In a black leather cape with the Lockhart family crest, polished Ars steel helmets (helmets) and chest armor (cuiras); they shine silver in the light of spring.

Elena wears equally polished armor, with golden hair peeking from her helmet and a neat face, it feels like the female knight in the story is intact.

Except for me.

Whatever the black leather cape with the Jakes family crest, it's the usual Fei Long armor look. In addition, the horse's saddle is fitted with his favorite synthetic bow (composite bow) and has an arrow barrel at the waist.

Take off your cape and hold your bow, you're more of an adventurer than a knight.

Adventurers with all this gear are rare, but I nevertheless have to wonder if they deserve to go say hello to Sir Masefield, not the establishment of a knight of the prestigious Lockhart family of martial arts.

I didn't change my gear because Elena smiles at me, "It suits you well, and it's no problem".

We have a roofed carriage with the Lockhart family crest on which Bill and Dennis ride behind us. Horse carriages are loaded with souvenirs to Lord Borderline and Lord Masefield.

Even a souvenir was not prepared by the Jakes family, but by the Miyagi and Zach.

There are five 20-litre “stainless steel tanks” made by Master Zach with one medium-sized barrel called “Hogshead”, mainly the eight-year-old Scotch, so-called Zach collection. It is also packed with twenty dozen Sewell wines aged by Zach.

I thought it was more like a Chamber of Commerce carriage dealing with fine liquor than a knight's carriage. This much booze doesn't actually exist because even the merchants in Imperial City can't match it.

Other crystal glass bottles and wine glasses made by Master Zach will be packed in crates and this carriage alone will be worth millions of kronas (billions of yen in Japanese yen). No, I just don't get it, it could be over 10 million kronas.

The carriage is also special.

It is the latest type of tire made of plank spring and demonic leather, with bearings made of metal spheres called bearings and axles made of alus steel. As a result, the noise is surprisingly quiet and less vibrating, and the speed can be produced for it.

A lot of people wave at me and drop me off as I walk out of the main entrance of Kanga Hill and into the center of the village.

Crossing the Finn River, which is the border of the village, he finally lost his breath as he entered the western forest.

"Until Kilnarek today, so let's just relax"

Usually, when I go into the woods, I command my squire and vigilantes, but I've never commanded these groups, and I'm having trouble figuring out what to do.

Though I spoke for now, my squire is somewhat hard to do with all the serious ones.

Elena advised me, "Don't let the Hall or Zach do it the way they did", that my thoughts were conveyed.

"Thanks, I'll take a look."

I have traveled many times with Master Zach. Remembering that time, he gave instructions on when to rest, how to be vigilant around him, and how to travel in the streets.

Around 2 p.m., we arrived in Kilnarek.

Ride through the castle gate and continue straight through the central tunnel to the castle master's hall.

Lord Rod is now ruling Kilnarek as a lord's deputy, to greet him.

As soon as we enter the hall, the Kilnarek stuffed squire will show up and pick up the horse.

We took Elena and her squire Jail and headed to Lord Rod's office.

Upon entering the office, there was Master Rod, Master Rosalee, who held his eldest daughter, Mr. Retisha, and Mr. Dean, who was four years old.

"It's a long journey, but be careful," said Master Rod, smiling and encouraging.

Dear Rosalie and I also greeted each other and were given a letter saying, "Tell your father I say hi".

Lord Rod hosted a feast for us that night.

Fun meals go on, adding and subtracting sickness.

"I think Dan will be fine, but be careful on the road. Rumors of the Lockhart family are spreading all over the streets about the meantime. It doesn't mean there's no one to try for nothing."

They are rumoured all over Ars Street because they defeated and triumphed over the Ground Dragon (Land Dragon) and the first giant (Cyclops). For this reason, mercenaries and others who want to raise their names may come up in vain.

"I don't think it makes sense to beat me...... but I'll be careful just in case"

To be honest, if I could beat my predecessors, Rod and Zach, I'd be proud, but I don't think you'd be proud to beat me with a sword, which is just a scourge with no two names.

However, the Lockhart family crest stands out, so I can honestly nod the story that someone might be after me.

The next day I leave the city of Kilnarek, but many merchants were asked to accompany me at the castle gate. He said it would be reassuring to have the Lockhart family attached to him when he crossed Kalsch, the biggest difficulty on Als Avenue.

It's not a quick journey, and it's convenient for us because it's been raided many times in Karsh. I admitted it lightly, but as many as fifty wagons had gathered. I guess that means that the fame of the Lockhart family is ringing.

We managed to set out in formation and arrived at the village of Bowden that day without anything.

But the day after that, he gets attacked by bandits near the top of the canopy.

A little before reaching the top, the wasteland of shrubs and dead grass plunged to the right and to the left to the place where it was a cliff. Even the wasteland is narrow and has a rock wall that cuts right off, but it's a great place to put an ambush.

If I had thought of that, I would have found out.

The bearded men come out of the bushes into the streets with walrus. That number will exceed thirty, and will increase even further.

"Leave the money and the horses!," he can roar with the face of a chief-like man winning.

I squeezed the synthetic bow and let go of the man's head and arrow without doing anything.

That distance is about twenty melts.

It's an inevitable distance if you're not as good as your predecessors and Zach.

"Even the Lockhart family and other horrible...... gu ha!" I got an arrow in my throat where I was about to say something more, and I wandered more and fell back.

"Your head!" I hear a cry, but I give instructions to my servants as I release my arrows.

"Jail, Eric, Bill before! Harry is backing up the three of us! Dennis gets under Harry's command after lowering the carriage! Merchants! Be on your perimeter! We'll take care of the bandits!

"I'll be out front too!" and Elena jumps off the horse and runs out.

"Copy that! But don't push it!

I didn't mean to put her on the battlefield. But I'm hardly worried.

Elena also has more than thirty swordsman levels and more arms than a concurrent soldier. If we don't even get surrounded, we won't be lagging behind the mercenary collapsed bandits, and the Jails should follow us.

I fired one arrow after another from the horse, causing three more fatal injuries.

By then, the bandits had also recovered from a temporary mess, with a man who looked like a deputy chief giving orders out loud.

"We don't have many enemies! Hang him at once and kill him!

I thought he was going to shoot me with an arrow, but he was on guard, hiding behind his men, and I couldn't aim him directly.

Elena and the others have fought without difficulty, but they are in this state of clothing because they are not reduced in number.

It's not just that there's no enemies going around out of the bush as it is, then the merchants will be harmed, and the hostages may take them and force them to surrender.

For that reason, I thought I should go forward, but I decided to ambush him to break this equilibrium.

Jumping off the horse, he goes straight into the bush, lowering his posture and out to the side of the enemy while hiding himself. The enemy also seemed to notice, "One, we're in the bush!" There was someone screaming.

But I don't know if I was lost in the hustle and bustle of battle, or because I didn't get clear instructions, but for now, I don't have any enemies coming towards me.

In about thirty seconds, the accessory head will be in a visible position.

Ten melts at a distance. Without straying, squeeze the bow and snipe the deputy head.

The deputy chief isn't used to directing, and he's yelling at me without worrying about me.

"What are you doing! Few enemies...... Grr! ……

With an arrow around his neck, his deputy falls as he screams. After releasing an arrow at a few more people, he threw his bow away and jumped into the enemy.

"It's Dan Jakes, the minister of the Lockhart family! Drop your weapons and surrender!

I was not willing to admit surrender even as I shouted so.

I just screamed, hoping the other person would be confused, and as it was, I let the sword wrap my magic around me and slash and lay low as soon as I made allowance or something.

My level of swordsmanship skills is 51. Not a big deal in the Lockhart family, but few bandits should be above my level.

The enemy was greatly disrupted by the effects of surprise raids from the sides as aimed and from the front and back. Slash and abandon the bandits right and left.

In about five minutes the number of bandits fell below half. More than twenty people have fallen at their feet, and the streets have become a sea of blood.

As far as I can tell, starting with Elena, there's no damage to the Lockhart family side. Still slashing and knocking with many enemies makes my breath rough.

The bandits on the other hand had no one to direct them, and felt lost in judging whether to escape or fight, and there was no glory in the movement.

The first time I defeated the head and deputy head was because Dear Zach told me that crushing the commander was the way to go, but I didn't expect the enemy to weaken so easily.

"Destroy them all at once! Slash them all!

Elena and the others squeeze their energy into my orders and add more fierce aggression. Of course, I keep waving my sword around my enemies so I don't lose.

At a time like this, I'm glad I was trained by the Lockhart family. Because even at the limits of your health, you can move with your strength.

"You can't beat these guys!" and one bandit threw down his weapon and fled.

That prompts the surviving bandits to flee one after the other.

When Jail said, "What do you do! I've been checking."

"No Pursuit Required! Report the situation!

I have reports coming up from the Jails on my orders, but there were no minor injuries, and it was our complete victory.

"Stop the bandits who are still alive! Dennis asked the merchants to help him with the body!

About twenty minutes later, the body was processed. Even when it comes to processing, it just removes the gear that seems to work, then pulls out the Demonic Crystal Stone and dumps the body off the road.

The number of bandits that eventually defeated him was thirty-five. With twelve or three fleeing, there would have been nearly fifty.

"That's the Lockhart family," one of the merchants has said.

"It just wasn't a big deal with them. This place smells like blood, so get out of here right away."

The merchant looked a little sorry because I didn't get into the conversation. [M] I suppose he wanted to take this opportunity to form a friendship with the Lockhart family through me.

This time, we were able to prevail because we were very skilled, because we were alarmed that the opponent could push in numbers and didn't attack us from the side.

And there's one more thing.

Master Zach taught me that the operation of crushing the first commander was successful.

I've heard this from Master Zach before.

"Why do you think the Lockhart vigilante is so strong?

I was not lost and replied, "Because I am working out for my predecessors."

My answer didn't seem to be the right one, and Master Zach said no.

"My guys are definitely strong. But it's your father and your uncle who are stronger than that."

As I lean my neck,

"Organizations where the commander is not firm are brittle. Even if every one of them is a thousand fierce men."

"Is that what it is"

"The world I was in had these words." A hundred sheep led by a single lion is better than a hundred lions led by a single sheep. "I don't know what that means."

I nodded because I knew it somehow, but it's still hard to say that I completely understood it. I guess that came out on my face. Master Zach taught me even more.

"No matter how good a soldier is, if the commander is incompetent, he can't win the war. In fact, the Holy King Luke has survived so far because many imperial commanders are incompetent..."

I know this story well because I've heard it before.

"... and this word means a lot. One means that if a commander is good, even a weak graduate can win, and if a commander is incompetent, even if he is militarily inferior, there is a chance of winning. This is also an admonition that those who become commanders must remember that in their liver..."

I realized that Master Zach was teaching me how to behave, the man of the Knight.

"... and the important thing is that if you kill even one lion, a hundred sheep will be just sheep down. In other words, it also leads to the tactic that enemy commanders should be aggressively crushed. Especially poorly trained conscripted soldiers and bandits are often no longer a threat the moment the commander is gone. You should remember that..."

I was listening to this story, so I put it into practice this time. Just because it hit me brilliantly, it's not my handle or anything.

Though we have won, we have let more than ten escape. Though I don't have much strength, I was tempted to let the bandits get away with it.

Except for me, he's happy that the eight of us defeated thirty-five bandits, and he's smiling even with his blood back. Still, it soon became a serious look, and Harry shrugged.

"My gear's been bloodstained. We need to take care of it..."

This time the equipment looks better than the usual equipment, as there is also a glimpse of the Honorable Uncle Borderline. For that reason, I polished it up every day, but if this is all bloodstained, I can't get it back until the blacksmith takes care of it. You must have noticed that.

He then entered the town of Thornbrough and handed over the bandits' Demonic Crystal Stone to the defense.

As a result, the head is the highest at level 35, the others are so precise that there are a few late twenties, and most of them are just immatures below level twenty that they don't even boast.

Did Eric, a squire, think the same thing?

"You're about twelve or three lads in our village," he said with a laugh.

The merchants have wanted to give a token of gratitude, but they politely refuse. Because Master Zach didn't accept it, but I can't accept it.

From the next day on, we'll just relax and head north on the streets to get into a safe area.

On April 25th, we arrived safely in Periclitle.

■ ■ ■

The twelve surviving bandits fled into the woods before returning to the cave where they were based.

Although they were all young people in their early twenties and did not like farm work and went out into the city, they were the ones who fell into banditry without becoming mercenaries or adventurers.

Those who were lucky enough not to be slashed, but their clothes and armor bear the blood of their companions. I left it as a hassle to take care of although I was aware of that.

One bandit groans blushing as he grabs his preserved food.

"Your heads and brothers are gone. What do we do now..."

A man who hears the words answers to throw it away.

"We're going to have to live alone."

"Right... but why did your head attack such a powerful knight?

The man with the doubts did not know why the heads targeted the Lockhart family.

One man answers the question.

"I heard you talking to my brother, and he said that wagon was loaded with millions of dollars worth of treasure. The guy who was gathering information in Bowden Village told me that he would do a million pots of jewelry."

"Still, my opponent is that lockhart. It's that lockhart that wiped out tens of thousands of undead in three hundred and defeated dragons and giants in twenty. If I'd known, I'd have fallen out."

"I would have thought so now, too. But your head was thinking ahead."

"Earlier?

"Oh, there's been a rumor that it's time to change Negijo"

"What does that have to do with anything?

"If you beat Lockhart, you'll have foil. That's what your head said."

"Foil on? You got foil on us, and you got something good on you?

"I just heard about it for a moment, but they talked about gathering people at the border between Lax and Sartooth. So you wanted to show me a good place to get into that organization."

"This is ridiculous. You didn't think about getting hit..."

Everyone nods at the words, but at that time they were alarmed.

He was just looking out from the inside out, without keeping an eye out outside the cave. As a result, I am delayed in noticing a bunch of gray wolves invited by the smell of blood.

I noticed a wolf howling and said, "Wolf!" But without fighting, we can only escape into a narrow cave.

The cave was at an end and there was no escape route.

Dragged one by one from those before them, but they had no choice but to become them.

Dan regretted letting the bandits get away, but from the results, there was no problem. It's just that he never knew about it forever.
