Dream Life

Lesson 30: Meet the Dragon Man

February 27th.

He heard the legend of the dragonman in the village of Kulat and entered Mount Silex, a volcano. I relied on the memory of the old man who taught me the legend to look for traces, but couldn't find them, and climb the mountain to go further into the depths.

I found an unnatural rock about four hours after climbing.

When I looked it up, there was a rock that differed in composition from the others, and I issued a warning that something was coming about Liddy, who could see the power of the Spirit where he tried to collapse the rock in an attempt to further investigate.

When she looked in the direction she pointed, part of the rock was starting to collapse.

"Something's coming out! Everybody, back off!

That's what I'm saying. I'm slowly falling back with my sword in place, too.

"Liddy and Sharon are ready to shoot the magic! But don't shoot until I tell you to!

I heard a voice of understanding and a chant of spells from both of us.

In the meantime, the rocks collapse. It looks like sand generation (sandcreator) magic is drilling a hole in a rock.

The hole gradually gets bigger, but I can't see inside because of the poor angle. But from time to time I could see something like a hand, and found that the presence of a human form used magic.

Lower further slowly to avoid irritating the target and take a distance of about ten meters.

The hole grew even larger and was about fifty centimeters tall and fifty centimeters wide. And I saw a dull silver foot from there.

Tell Liddy and Sharon to “signal and attack” with a hand sign and tell Beatrice to “be on perimeter alert”.

A silver mannequin comes out of the hole in a slow motion.

(Not scales or skin. Shoes, obviously. Is it like integrated protective clothing?

Slowly the whole body appears. Is it the same dull silver glove on your arm or the same material up to the tip of your hand? Just at first glance, your whole body doesn't even look like a silver golem. But the movement is smooth for the golem, and it is clear that it is an organism.

When his head showed up, Mel said, "Eh!" and raise a voice of surprise.

The head feels the same metallic, but the shape was as long as a reptile. The eye area is as big as a yamori and so black as eyes.

I hear Mel whining, "Dragonman......"

"No, that's a helmet... the eye area is a goggle..."

As I shrugged unexpectedly, he was a full-body suit in a special form of helmet.

The person slowly raised his hands and showed no hostility.

"I'm not going to be hostile...... shhh...... could you stop pointing weapons and chanting spells...... shhh......"

The voice belongs to a man, but it sounds like a poor quality speaker and is hard to hear because the exhalation goes in by the way.

It reminded me of the Dark Lord of the Galactic Empire, though in the wrong place.

While I was on guard, I said, "No magic. You can also lower your weapon," he tells the Liddies. However, give instructions so that you can attack at any time with a hand sign.

"We're not willing to attack either. One thing I'd like to ask you, are you from a species called the Dragon Man?"

"I know they call me that outside...... shhhhhhhhhhhhh... no problem with that perception...... shhhhh..."

I want to ask you something, but more than that, we have to find out what his purpose is.

"I heard that you rarely show up. Why did it suddenly come out? Until you break the camouflaged rock."

"Because you tried to get into this rock with a hole in it... I figured if it was going to break the rock anyway, I'd better get out of here..."

I didn't feel any signs, but they seemed to be watching me.

Knowing that we're interested in dragon men, you thought we should negotiate outside if we're enough to get inside.

"That said, you still had to introduce yourself. My name is Zacharias Lockhart. I'm an adventurer, but I also did the researcher's assistant. It's my wives behind me..."

I'm going to introduce the Liddies, but I can't see the expression at all because of a helmet like lizard's head, and I don't know what I'm thinking.

"I'm Linus Hiroscorpi... and I'm a researcher's end too..." I felt a slightly laughing atmosphere.

"We are the ones who visited the land when they heard the dragon man would live there. I heard about seventy years ago that the hunter's father and son met a man named Caspar. If it's not inconvenient, could you please let me talk to you?"

Communicate this idea directly to the individual. I'm not looking into anything specifically, and I don't want you to, so I told you honestly that I came here out of intellectual curiosity.

"On this occasion, for a short time… but only on the condition that what I hear here does not speak out and that I do not tell anyone about this place…"

The dragon man seems to be secretive, but I honestly admit it because he has no merit in publishing it.

"What are you talking about? Just give me a minute. Say…" and put your hands on the ground.

Then came out a chair made of earthly attribute magic. The workmanship was exquisite and the completion time was even shorter. I'm guessing there's a level with Dr. Raspade.

"We'll have our share here," he says, removing the folding chair from the storage magic (inventory).

I could have made it with earthly attribute magic, just like him, but I wanted to see storage magic and see how it would react.

Though I can't see the expression, there was no surprise or trick. It means that storage magic can be used or that we know it exists. This further increased the likelihood that it had something to do with ancient civilization.

Linus nodded small as they all sat down. Start asking questions about that on the signal.

"I ask you directly, are you not the descendant of those ancient civilizations that have already perished?

"It is not clear what ancient civilization refers to... if it means descendants of civilizations that perished about four thousand years ago now... you are right..."

"So have you been kept civilized for four thousand years? To the extent I have examined, all the ruins of ancient civilization have been affected by information alteration by the godless (Vanitas). Some of the information modifications are genetic, and I hear many people have changed their appearance. This may be a very rude question, but do you look like your ancestors today?"

It's a very subtle (sensible) topic, as I put it in my mouth. Because I'm asking if my appearance has been ugly changed by Vanitas.

But Linus didn't look particularly distracted and gave me an immediate answer.

"The definition of the maintenance of civilization is ambiguous and unanswerable… However, a certain level of civilization can be maintained… I don't know all of your civilizations… we would be the more advanced civilizations…"

So I cut the words once. And you got your thoughts together, open your mouth again.

"I can assure you that from the information left behind we are almost identical to our ancestors... but we live underground... so we will not burn in the day like our ancestors..."

"So can we think of that protective clothing as preventing information from being altered?

"Exactly. I know that the cause of the information alteration is mana... it completely blocks me from taking in external mana... I just can't use magic then, so I can put out magic in one direction, i.e. towards the outside..."

I guess I couldn't use healing magic because I could only put magic outwards.

"Earlier you mentioned the information left by your ancestors, do you mean that you have literature and data that are not affected by information alteration?"

"I'm sorry, but I don't have the authority to answer about it... let's just say that if it's just the figure, it will remain as a diagram even if it's affected by an alteration of information..."

You seem wary of being known to have useful information.

And gradually approaching the core.

"How familiar are you with Vanitas and the Gods? I was not particularly questioned when I said earlier that the information alteration was caused by Vanitas. What is the relationship between the gods and you?"

"It's hard to answer with vague questions... but if you're strong enough to answer, we were on the side of the gods... keep the evil thing away: magic engineering, etc..."

I'm surprised that I said demonic engineering was evil, but certainly ancient researchers I met before say Vanitas invaded using demonic engineering. If you think about it like that, it's not usually the wrong perception.

I was also concerned that “I was on the side of the gods" used the past form.

"You said in the past that you were on the side of the gods, does that mean you're on the Vanitas side now, not the gods?

"The gods have abandoned us, we can't be... attached to Vanitas. That God only uses people... like a pathetic man five hundred years ago..."

I can't hide my surprise in the words that came out of nowhere.

"Are you a pathetic man five hundred years ago?

"I forgot my name, but there is a man who was looking for us with ten or so squires... he cried out to us to help create a world of God of Light (Lucidus)... he must have gained strength in the temple of the renounced God of Fire (Ignis) at the mouth of the fire... he kept spreading his disastrous power and waited for us to come out..."

"Wasn't it named Lucio Brillare?

"I think it was such a name... you know? ……

"Yeah, I'm a religious man who created a monotheism called Light Theism in the West more than here. He's already dead, but his influence is still immeasurable."

"I see... monotheism that only worships Lucidus? He thought about it too..."

"Do you know what Vanitas thinks? Could you tell me if you could?

I just said, "I don't know what God thinks about our children..." I didn't say anything more.

To change the subject, I asked about magic engineering.

"Being denied magic engineering means that you didn't use a transfer gate or an information and communication system?

I saw agitation in my question.

"Do you know about the gate?... I used magic earlier using phase shift theory, but are you the same survivor as us... or the survivor of the" Divine Man "..."

I'm concerned about the word "divine man," but I think it's better to solve the misunderstanding,

"It's a coincidence that I can use this magic. Because I have met researchers of ancient civilization. Most of all, he abandoned his body and was only spiritual. That researcher taught me a lot."

"I see..." I'm convinced.

"Let's answer the earlier question then... we don't use any magic props as well as gates... we have a creed to live only with the magic given to the gods... we are told this has been done since before the fall of civilization..."

"It's not even used for that protective clothing?

"It has not been used at all..." he told me slightly grumpy. They have a strong aversion to something called magic engineering.

He then asks further questions and clears his doubts.

It only answered ambiguously about them and I could barely tell. I was just taught that the way you were watching us was by magic. But I couldn't ask you any specific way about this either.

He also asks questions about the existence of a divine person.

"The divine men are about the priests who serve the gods... the species who were considered to be the closest to God in their long life... drowned in witchcraft even though they were closest to serving God... they were used by Vanitas in their statement to bring the world to collapse..."

I felt a bruise on each end of the words. Somehow, but I felt like I hated the Divine Man. But there was more to it than that.

"Perhaps I have met the divine man."

"Hey, what..." he exclaims.

"Until recently we stayed at the Temple of the Creative God (Creatore) on the island of Gilsall. In doing so, I started as chief clergyman, and I felt that the clergymen were more alive than they were when civilization collapsed."

"The Temple of Claire Tor... if possible, but I didn't know he was still alive with congratulations..."

There seems to be something I think about the divine man, but he said he worships the gods, so he doesn't seem to be in clear conflict. I feel somewhat close to rubbing the inner circle.

I'd also like to hear about this matter, but they say I don't have time, so I'm going to ask from what I want to hear.

"What are you guys up to? It seems to have little contact with the outside world."

"Our existential significance... there is no such thing. Because living is the best you can do... if you insist, survive a little longer as a species abandoned by the gods..."

Answering the mockery, "It's time..." I've broken off the talks.

"Let me just tell you one last thing... don't trust the gods too much. They cut our people off fine. No matter how much we admire it... but it's not because it's evil. It's just different values..."

I nodded unexpectedly at the words.

It is understandable that the raison d 'être of the gods is the survival of the world and to do anything for it.

"Thank you," he replied thankfully, "This was a good time..." and goes into the hole. And blocked the holes that had been vacated by the magic of Stone Generation (Stone Creator).

It completely blocks the hole and leaves little trace.

I've been talking about it for about thirty minutes, but I feel it for longer because it was thick.

"I didn't expect to even meet the Dragon Man. I never get tired of being with you."

It feels like Beatrice is out of control.

"Right. I can't help being here, and I'm going home."

That's how I tried to get down the mountain, but Sharon asked me, "Do I not have to go see the fire exit?"

It would mean confirming Ignis' temple ruins that Brillare has gained power.

"No, let's not. Don't sneak up on the Untouched God. I can't even look him in the eye when he comes out."

"Right," Sharon pulled back quickly. I guess you thought it was risky.

He then went down the mountain and arrived in the village of Kurat before the sun went down.
