Dream Life

Episode 41: A Mock Against the Red Arms

morning of June 25th.

A mock battle was to be waged against the elites of the world's most powerful mercenary regiment, the Marcut Mercenaries (Red Arms).

He first made arrangements with Hamish Markat, the head of the regiment.

Unlike Gideon, there are many linear slaughters, but it is best to avoid them even if you use demon fighting for too much speed.

I managed to sneak up on small pitfalls with earthly attribute magic to reward them with one arrow, and even more, I tried using demonic fighting and wind attribute magic to carry out an attack that poked at my intentions, but the surprise was amazing, and I didn't show any gaps.

They also use magic such as swallow-wing blades (swallow cutters) and fast-firing stone debris (stone valets), but they are all knocked down.

Conversely, he was blown away using the same “fighting" that Gideon uses, and he broke his ribs and damaged his gut.

Though I managed to recover from Liddy's healing magic, I haven't felt my life was in danger in a long time.

Still, I rarely had such a chance, so I went on to mock battle with the captain class.

Gareth Ayling, the squad's closest, was an orthodox swordsman who felt close to his grandfather. For that matter, it was easy to predict and it was possible to deal with it. However, if only the speed of slashing is comparable to Hamish, and the tactics are reasonable, so they are gradually hunted down and, at the end of the day, defeated with sharp slaughter in their arms.

We had mock warfare with the other captains, but they were just called the strongest mercenary regiment in the world, and they had a wealth of talent.

The most unexpected of these was the deputy, Alberic Auger.

He is a healer who uses long bows because of his elves, and his alias "Armored Al” is famous. But surprisingly, the swordsmanship arm was also superb.

Its strength is comparable to that of my grandfather Govan, a genius who excelled in all three things: melee, ranged, and support.

The sword is an orthodox one-handed sword, a style that doesn't hold a shield. For this reason, at first, I thought it was the same speed oriented and confusing type as me.

But when the simulation begins, he shows little movement, waiting for this one to attack him with a floating look as usual.

He rides his opponent's hand, but he can't help it if it matches him, so he attacks with a feint, but he gets played all the time.

When I boiled my business and carried out a sharp slaughter, I now came after the counter. The move is unusual and is beaten up before you realize what has been done.

I managed to reward him with one arrow and tried many times by healing magic myself.

I also used soothing means such as making a dent in the ground with the feet I used for Hamish, but it makes little sense because it releases the counter with minimal movement.

Also, I tried to make an impression and throw Kunai after rolling out the slaughter, but it also gets lightly bounced.

I couldn't even grasp the thread of the counterattack after all.

What I found out is that he is the owner of an unusual motor vision and a sharp reflex nerve. And he recognized that the skill of swordsmanship alone to make use of it was combined to make him an unbeatable opponent in a different sense from Hamish.

He also showed me his bow arm, but he had far more skill than Hector Marron, one of the best archers in the Lockhart family.

With more accuracy, its power seems to be similar to that of a large crossbow (barista), and the prepared wooden target is broken in two with a normal arrow.

He doesn't seem to be aware of it, but he also uses "struggle”.

What I have felt throughout this simulation is that everyone, including Hamish, is more aware that they will not be defeated than defeating their enemies. Especially against a magical ambush. He seems concerned about dealing with it without losing his cool.

The best harvest of this time would be that Beatrice could now use "Struggle.”

The power of the poking has always been awesome, but the fighting poking has become powerful enough to sound on my gut, even with my armor.

It's not just that, it's damaged by an attack that should have been completely dodged in the backstep.

"I can see it somehow. Well, I can't say I'm fully operational yet."

Beatrice seems satisfied even though she says so.

There are other Mel attacks that have gone up. Not so much a struggle yet, but when I checked with Hamish, it was a precursor to that.

And it's me, but I could have acquired some interesting skills.

The trigger was a simulated battle with Alberic, where he tried to wrap his magic around his eyes with the same procedure as the demonic martial arts to see if he could do something about his kinetic vision to the point of his anomaly.

As a result, you can read the opponent's movements, albeit somehow. It may be a coincidence, but I'm going to go further after I get back to the village.

Liddy, but I saw a bow technique that wasn't the usual Alberic interrogation of the same elf, and I got bow guidance from him. They eventually became more powerful than before, but at first they were confused by his abstract representation.

"" I can put a good effort into it here and think about penetrating it when I release an arrow, "he said... but anyone can do it when it's more powerful just to think about penetrating it..."

Still, he somehow figured out it was a way to use the power of the Spirit,

"I think I found out the secrets of the elf archer. It's hard to explain without a little more research..."

After finishing the mock fight, Hamish frightened me, "I didn't mean to be so serious..." Because Beatrice and Mel are fractured, including me.

As far as I'm concerned, I would have been happier if “Red Arm Hamish" had taken me seriously, so I'm telling you that honestly.

"As far as I'm concerned, I'm glad Mr. Hamish really punched in. And I thought I could magically cut it off a little bit more, but you're used to it."

"Yeah, I got a lot of help from Ray's guy. I am proud that no mercenary regiment is more accustomed to fighting against magic than we are. Of course, not as good as the Lockhart family that hears rumors."

"Sure, we work out our vigilante, but I felt the point of being thorough in protecting it was something to apprentice. Because more and more generations are not experiencing the fight against the undead either."

I got a lot of time to put on an archery afterwards.

The Hamish made that adjustment that afternoon when the Ulrich and the others made the weaponry.

The captains, as well as the vice-captain class fierce, have been given weapons, and there are about thirty mercenaries gathered in the guild's courtyard.

I was allowed to be present, too, but I had all the stunning weapons.

The armor emitted a unique dark, blunt color of Ars steel, and the weapon is the same Ars steel, but this one was brilliant polished up like a mirror and heavy duty.

But the blacksmiths don't look very convinced.

"I would not be comfortable with a rigid man like Lord Hamish at all with this level of weaponry... of course the sword is struck by the knobs, backpacks, and others with arms, and the protective equipment is made by Gaelnotes and Georg and others. Even if it's Ars steel, it's better than those things..."

I'm saying it's better than the stuff there, but the magic formation of hardening incorporates it, and it has a misrill coating, so it can be called a superior weapon.

"I think it's enough performance for us..." says Hamish,

"Compare it to Zach's stuff. There's no way I can say it's worthy of your arms," he kicks.

"When I think about what lies ahead, it makes sense what Ulrich says, but only Lord Arklight and Luna are the main actors in the battle. If Lord Hamish thinks it's enough, that's fine."

Ulrich and the others were reluctantly convinced by my words.

Afterwards, fine-tuning is carried out, but admiration is raised by Hamish and the others.

Hamish confirmed the armor he had finished putting on, "This is amazing! I don't feel any heavier than I've ever had."

Gareth waved her sword,

"It's like I've used it in for a year. You say this when you suck on your hand..."

The mercenaries confirmed their weapons with a satisfactory look.

Afterwards, a farewell party was held with the Red Arms, who are leaving tomorrow.

I drank only with the captain class at the banquet yesterday, but today the members of Hei's team are also in.

It was the first time I had seen them face to face in a mock fight in the morning because they were opponents more than the captain class, and I felt there were more mercenaries younger than I imagined “the strongest mercenary regiment in the world”.

At his age, in his late teens, he has more than ten running classes, from grade eight to grade seven, when it comes to the rank of mercenary guild. The generation above that, that is, the early twenties of my generation and that of my generation, accounted for the majority, and I had the impression that there were fewer veterans in the thirties.

Ask Hamish about it,

"I've been telling the veterans to be as independent as possible. I don't see a mercenary ahead of me forever... I wish I could find a mercenary's wife like me, but the number of mercenaries is small. And if I were there, I wouldn't be able to gain experience as a mercenary commander..."

When asked in detail, the deputy captain class veterans were told to have their own mercenary regiment.

Mercenaries are the main task of escorting the merchant corps and often leave their home base for long periods of time. For that reason, they care that they often miss their weddings.

Also, the Red Arms captain is intoxicated by Hamish and has no intention of leaving the regiment. Every captain is a super-class mercenary, and it is difficult to promote him to captain, except that even a veteran with arms increases the size of the regiment.

"... well, I've lost a lot of veterans in the battles of Millice Valley and Fort Chulock..."

The Battle of Millis Valley is a famous battle that has also become poetry, a fierce battle in which only two hundred people have fought against three thousand orcs for two whole days. It wasn't just the Red Arms, it was also part of the Knights that were thrown away stones, but the war dead have done nearly 30% and the wounded 50% and 80% damage.

The Red Arms veterans in particular have struggled to fill the holes of immature young men and Knights soldiers, many of whom they have heard have lost their lives.

"... your family is amazing when you think about it. You defended the village with thirty casualties of war against tens of thousands of undead. It means that the troops, including Sir Govan and Sir Massaias, with excellent commanders, are strong. Of course, you're one of them."

"We are fighting against the right castle to defend, so the conditions are completely different. Given the unfavourable situation of the retreat, Mr. Hamish would have been tougher."

In fact, it wouldn't have lasted a day if it hadn't been for the advantageous conditions of walls and moat surroundings.

In that regard, the strength of the Red Arms, which fought out for a full two days in a situation where, on the contrary, the walls are not even satisfied with supplies, is out of the group.

"If you could say that, they'd be floating around dead too."

Talking about that, Ulrich handed me a jock and a plate saying, "I'm done with the damp talk".

"This white beer is a shove of sausage."

Sip a white-type Weizen beer made from wheat and cheek up a rich sausage of herbs and white pepper.

The sweetness and acidity of the white beer combined with the aromas of pork fat and spices had brought out a flavour of perfect balance.

"It does taste good. The beer temperature is perfect, and the sausage is even better. Sage and white pepper, and other spices I didn't use before."

"That's just great. Lord Ignacious gave me guidance."

Looks like a sausage overseen by Viscount Ignacious Radford, the best gastronomer in the empire.

"With that said, Luna noticed, too. I want you to come home safe."

He ate the same sausage two months ago and noticed the difference.

Enjoying the beer, I was thinking about the Marcut mercenary regiment that would be Luna's escort.

Beginning with Hamish, the strength of the captains was real. Overall, however, I'm beginning to wonder if the title “The World's Most Powerful Mercenary Corps” is unworthy.

In fact, less than half of the approximately 100 mercenaries have reached the vigilante level in the village of Rasmore.

If you are going to fight the Nothingness (Vanitas) as Luna's escort in the future, you should also consider the possibility of them becoming Achilles tendons. There's just no way to tell the Lunas about this. I just hope she notices.

The next day, the Mercenaries of Markat (Red Arms) left Ars.

When I say goodbye, I'm asking for Luna again.

"Regards about my sister"

"Let me do what I can. Because that's for my daughter and Ray. Well, take care of yourself."

That's what I said, and while the Dwarves dropped me off, I made a beautiful line and left the main gate.

Hamish Markat was talking to his allies Alberic and his wife Valeria and the Zacharias as they were rocked by horses after leaving Ars.

"And they're strong enough to shudder," Hamish says roaring, as does Alberic, whose usual floats snort with a serious look like a lie.

"Especially Zach. You were fast enough for me and Gareth to follow. And that unchanging magic is troublesome. I can't help but worry about my feet and fight all the time... you can catch Zenga all you want."

Zacharias is unchanging and uses his toes even more to create a crease on the ground, even if he neglects to pay attention, he gets his feet taken. In fact, Zenga Ormiga, captain of 2nd Squad, was making a huge gap when the giant was disastrous and his feet were taken by the temples.

"And at the end of the day, you were able to see through the attack," Gareth says with admiration.

"Sure, I'll stand on your arm, but you were a troublesome person thinking about cutting your head off more than that. He managed to say later that he was using the illusion of his eyes or something, but I had no idea..." Lazareth Dawell of the third squad is grinning bitterly.

"I think it's awesome even though I'm the same age as Ash. Genius is what you call him. It's been a long time since I lost to younger people. Ten different kids," says Valeria.

On a swordsman level, she and Zacharias are about the same, but they continue to turn backwards to a multitude of attacks and eventually lose.

"Still, if all that delicacy is helping (supporting) the Rays, whatever it is, it looks like we can handle it. Probably, but he's got a lot to arrange through his blacksmith guild."

Hamish is convinced that Zacharias is also turning his hands within the Empire.

"I thought, is he entrusted with something by the gods, too? When I talk to the Dwarves about alcohol, I have a good tooth cut, but as soon as I get to you, Ray, I feel like I've got a bad tooth cut."

Alberic also agrees with Valeria's words.

"I thought the same thing. That's all you can say to Dwarves about alcohol."

"Either way, if you let him in the empire, there's got to be something he's got for you. Probably, but we can also rendezvous with the Rays."

When Hamish concludes that way, everyone nods loudly. They felt the same way.
