Dream Life

Episode 42: The Magic Formation

June 26th.

The Mercenary Corps of Mercenaries (Red Arms) left Ars.

It is a good memory that I was able to interact with the fierce, beginning with the leader of the regiment, Hamish Markat.

Now everything we do in Ars (here) is done. It's the Summer Solstice Festival in five days, but this time I'm going to leave tomorrow because I'm going to prioritize going back to the village.

Speaking to Ulrich about it, he has spoken with a rare and serious look.

"I want you to see something. I'm sorry, but will you come to General Headquarters?"

"What's there," he asks, "it's quicker for you to see it," and walks forward. They come with Gaelnote Graver and Oigen Hauser behind them, and they know what they have, too.

"You have a different look when it comes to alcohol," Liddy whispered.

"Sure you are," but I don't see the reason why the Red Arms left, other than talking about booze.

I know it's hard to talk about when Hamish and the others are around, but I don't care about the details. I don't feel like I have any trouble getting asked by him in a luxurious manner.

Upon arrival at Alliance headquarters, he enters the master master craftsman's office as is.

"Bring me that," Ulrich instructed one of the officials. They come in with large plates covered in cloth by officials while the gauge notes sit on the couch.

And I put that plate up against the wall.

Ulrich started talking as the officials left.

I say, "Look at this first," and I peel the cloth off.

There was a large white piece of paper on it, where multiple intricate magic formations were painted.

I lose the word to that elaborate magic formation: "What, this is..."

"It's a photograph of Ray's armor and spear, and what was painted on the back of his left hand. Non and the others tried to decipher it while looking at the guidelines for the foundations of the magic formation that you taught them, but somehow I know, but I don't know the details. That's why I wanted your opinion."

"Ray? Lord Arklight, the white warrior... and he says it's the back of his left hand..."

My common sense didn't have the idea of drawing magic formations on people's bodies, so I can't hide my surprises. I come closer because I want to see it, but you're as interested as I am, and Sharon comes with you.

"The top right is Ray's armor,“ The Clothes of Snow (Nixwestis). "It was painted on a spear called the" white horn (Albumcorne) "on the left. And it's on my left hand side down there..."

Being such a sophisticated magic formation, he said, "Is this all, his thing?" I ask back unexpectedly.

"Bye. Looks like this magic team is pairing up with the spear and armor magic team. It's also surprising, all eight attributes are depicted, but there's too much to know."

As Ulrich put it, it soon became clear that it was an eight-class magic formation. Some of them are readily understandable with my knowledge, but many don't.

"The metallicity is hardened, the wood attribute is definitely self-repairing...... the weight reduction of the earthly attribute is a little special but somehow I can tell. The light attribute of the spear is in the form of a release, so it would be for attack... I have no idea what the left hand is..."

"Don't you see..."

That raises even more questions.

"Is this Lord Arklight's weapon or his left hand? Why wouldn't I know?

It felt like what to say to my question, and Ulrich started explaining it as he roared.

"Ray suddenly appeared in this world about a year ago, he said. I hear I don't even know what I remember..."

Ulrich talks unspeakably. You're probably wondering if you can tell me his secret without consent.

"I know Lord Arklight is in his hometown with Luna. Well, I didn't hear from him."

"Well......" Ulrich appeases, but still "I don't know how far to go......" It's rare for him to still be lost.

"Let's not ask about him any more. We'll find out when Luna and the others get back. So let me ask you a question from me. You just have to answer as much as you can."

He said "um" to my words and gave me a relief look.

"I need to take a closer look, but I feel a lot of it isn't even in the literature at Dr. Raspade's. There are many magical formations of ancient civilizations at the teacher's place, but they are subtly different."

"It doesn't belong to the ruins either? I was wondering if Nong and the others were magic formations back in the day..."

"I don't remember everything either, but there's no big difference in theory between the magic formations of ancient civilizations and the magic formations of today. But this guy is a lot different from logic. For example, although this fire attribute, the output portion and the amplified portion appear to be looping. Some of the old ones were double, but I don't draw them in a way that circulates (loops)..."

I've noticed it while watching the magic formation.

The magic formation today is close to a simple amplification circuit. Simply put, it uses the magic power of the surgeon as input, and applies the power of the Spirit to amplify it and output it as a phenomenon.

But Arklight's magic formation gave the impression of a kind of logic circuit.

For example, there are a plurality of parts that input magic power and are in a loop between the amplification circuit and the output circuit. It felt like a flowchart or a sequence.

He said, "Why don't you just keep circulating? In what part," he said, and at some point the gauge note that was behind me asked.

pointing to that part,

"It's a magic formation of armor fire attributes, but it's connected here and here. That's not all. I'm getting magic typed into this part. I've never seen magic in the middle of a magic formation."

"If you do say so, you're right. So, you know what this magic formation means?

I understand it somewhat thanks to a closer look.

"Probably, but I think it's for temperature adjustment. Don't you think Sharon would, too?

I turn to Sharon, who was similarly staring at the magic formation.

"... difficult. Somehow, I think it resembles the“ pseudo-perche effect ”magic we use, but where is this complex magic formation connected..."

"I thought the same thing at first. But if you look closely, you know somehow. This is where the temperature goes up, this is where it goes down. I guess the magic is coming in a lot because it allows you to fine-tune it."

"Feet raises the temperature, torso lowers, or something like that?

"Maybe. I have no idea how you're moving the heat."

"That's not Zach and Sharon. At Nong et al., we understand completely," says Oigen, "Ulrich and Gaelnote are also nodding.

I know you wanted to show us the magic formation, but I'm curious why you bothered to show Hamish after he disappeared.

If you ask me about that,

"I'm also concerned about the spear and armor magic formation, but I'm more concerned than that about the lack of magic crystal stones."

"There's no magic crystal stone! Is it true!

I shouted out loud by accident. Because it's too far from my common sense.

Some simple magic items can be used by sending magic directly into them. Normally, however, a magic formation requires a demon crystal stone commensurate with its output, and a minimum of a tertiary demon crystal stone is required if a magic formation is to be used for a weapon with a large output.

Demonic crystalline stones not only store magic power, but also act as "power storage elements (capacitors)" that provide magic power in a stable manner. Because this requires a lot of magic at startup, and it also means making up for that shortage, it is common to use more than two levels for a magic formation that uses super first-rate weapons like those made by the Ulrich.

"It's true. Non and others think that's the biggest mystery."

"Sure it's a mystery, but I don't think it has anything to do with what Lord Hamish doesn't want me to hear?

"If we're just talking about the magic team, we don't care. But I noticed something..."

Mouth to mouth to choose words there.

"Something?

"White horns (Albumcorne) and snow clothes (Nixwestis) can only be used by Ray. At first I thought lightly that Ray himself was a Demonic Crystal Stone, but it doesn't turn into the magic that people emit whether there is a magic formation on the left hand side or not. Besides, he said he didn't use magic just because he was equipped. This is all the magic that keeps us up and running..."

"Sure it is..."

"That's where I thought. I wondered if Ray was really a person. One level equivalent Demon Crystal Stone is not enough to keep all this magic formations up and running at all times. Probably need four first-level things..."

The Ulrich, the superior blacksmiths, can look at the magic formation and empirically determine the magnitude of the Demonic Crystal Stone they need to incorporate even if they don't know what it means.

A first-degree monster, but Vlad Varonos, the king of the dead (undead) we fought for, and Ashtal, the Demon General (archdemon), hit it. Even demons with so much power have only one demonic crystal stone.

Thinking about it, it's not strange to feel scared if you're told you have more than four times that class of Demonic Crystal Stones in your body.

I turned my gaze to the magic team again, thinking about it.

"You do have tons of magic crystal stones. If it's just the amount of magic, it's okay to have four in the first level, but if it's actually going to work, it's not going to be twenty. It possesses so much magic, and it can be sent into the magic formation with precision. I have to say it's not a human business..."

"We know full well that Ray is not evil. But it's also certain that you're not a normal person. I didn't think we could talk about it without talking about it."

I came here to understand Ulrich's concerns.

They made the hypothesis that because of the magnitude of the demonic crystal stone needed, Arklite was not human, but another being. You can't tell Hamish about it, you talked to me after he was gone.

By contrast, I'm optimistic.

"I guess God is giving me special powers"

"I do know that..."

"Magic uses the power of the Spirit, that is, the power of the gods. And he is a man whom God has summoned. It's no surprise that you can manipulate the power of the gods directly..."

Arklite was summoned by the gods to protect this world from the gods of nothingness (Vanitas). Vanitas' power is comparable to that of the gods. If you're going to fight such an unusual existence, it's not surprising that the summoned Arklite has been given special power.

"... sure you do. Luna trusted Ray, too. Just like you. Then let's just say we believe in Ray."

Did the Ulrich guys convince themselves that the bitter atmosphere until then had led them to show the usual taunt?

"I'm in this magic formation, can I get a copy? I'd also like to ask Dr. Raspade for his opinion."

"I've checked with Ray, so I don't mind, but I want you to check it out with Nan and the others. With you, new ideas might come to mind."

I was going to leave tomorrow, but I don't need to rush it in particular.

I want to hear the blacksmiths' opinions myself, and there's no difference, but I can't decide on my own.

Looking back and checking with Liddy and the others with his eyes,

"It's okay. It's almost the Summer Solstice Festival, and I think you can enjoy the festival here in Ars before heading back to the village."

Beatrice agrees with Liddy.

"I agree with Lydia, too. I'm glad to keep going and see the little lodging town festival, but the liquor is in the delicious Ars because of it. You can drink plenty here."

Mel also laughs with Nico, "I agree with both of you.

Finally, I turn my gaze to Sharon, but she shares my opinion, "I'd like to hear what the blacksmiths have to say. I feel it's easier to find the answer to that," he says.

"It's not a decision. So, it's a banquet today!

It's still early in the morning, but it's a dwarf, so I can't help it.

He then performed an analysis of the magic formation with Sharon.

It seems the Liddies are unwilling to go along with the task of analyzing boring magic formations,

"I'm gonna hang out in town. I'll be back for lunch."

That's what I said, flickering my hand, and I left the master master craftsman's office.

I knew this would happen, so I don't have anything in particular to think about.

The Ulrich and the others then went back to their workshop to clean up the late work. However, the master craftsman's office can be used as is, so Sharon and I will carry out the analysis.

It was more complicated than I imagined when I looked into it, and it took a lot of time to decipher one. Especially what was painted on the left hand is fundamentally different from what is painted on weapons and protective equipment, and I have argued with Sharon many times.

Ordinary magic formations have a clear purpose. It has the purpose of, for example, emitting flames or hardening them, and communicating them to the spirits is the role of the magic formation. But I couldn't find what that purposeful look like in the magic formation on my left.

"You don't know what that means. This only gives the Spirit magic."

That's what Sharon says. He's tilting his neck.

"Explorer, maybe that's what this is all about."

"What does that mean? Just giving the Spirit magic doesn't make a phenomenon."

"It's just a reasoning, but perhaps this magic formation is meant to amplify Arklight's will when communicating it to spears and protective equipment"

"But it hasn't become a magic formation to amplify"

"Exactly, but he should be with Luna and loved by the Spirit. If we think that this magic formation is a landmark for the spirits to divide their powers, we don't have to ask them to amplify it, but the spirits will give us power on their own."

"So you can't really use this magic formation for normal people"

"Not really," Sharon said, "what does that mean? I've heard."

"If a magician uses magic, activate it with spells and images. The spirits interpret the image and create a phenomenon, but with this magic formation, we can tell the spirits more clearly. If you had this idea, it would increase the power of magic."

Watching this magic formation reminded me of the collective magic used by the Light God.

Light divinity draws a special magic formation in a place called the diocese, where many magicians, or clerics, exercise massive magic by performing chants.

That magic formation is supposed to be out of the door, and we don't know what it is, but it's probably something that works just like this magic formation.

"There's something I'd like to try"

"What do you mean?

"If I paint this magic formation on those who can't use magic, I wonder if magic can be used."

I want to draw a magic formation with pigment or something in the hands of those without magical qualities and see if it has the same effect as Arklite's left hand. Of course, I'm going to make sure with my own hands before I do, but if this succeeds, there will be a revolution in magic.

"That's true. I can't use magic because I can't deliver images to the spirits. If so, you might be able to use it."

"Well, even if you can't use it, you can just gather the power of the Spirit when we use it. If it works the same way as mass magic, it's simply more powerful."

"But it's dangerous. Of course not."

"I'm going to let Dr. Raspade and Mr. Kitley see it, but I'm not willing to publish it. It'd be tough if someone abused you."

Increasing magic power means increasing the status of magicians, but there are many fanatical magicians in this world.

Particularly if known to the Light Divinity and the Demonic Nation, careful attention will be required because the map of forces in the world could change.

Afterwards, the Liddies return and it becomes lunch.

I could have eaten at the guild, but I rolled out to the city because it was bad enough to annoy the staff in the absence of the Ulrich.
