Dream Life

Episode 55: Anxious Days

March 28th.

Four days ago, the village of Rasmore entered a state of strict precaution. Half of the vigilantes, about two hundred of them, are standing by at all times in Kanga Hill.

Because my father decided that there was likely to be an anomaly in the mountains of Aquila and in the woods at the foot, similar to the situation before the Undead raid.

The villagers were also prepared to evacuate at any time. Already barrels of liquor have been removed from the underground reservoirs in each hill so that they can be used as shelters. The liquor barrels I served were temporarily transferred to an underground reservoir in the West Forest that I used at the Dwarf Festival. Exactly the size that can accommodate four thousand dwarves, and there's still plenty of room for all the hill barrels.

Evacuation training has also been conducted and evacuation can be carried out in about thirty minutes from the alarm, but anxiety remains nonetheless.

There has been no significant change in the last four days. But not only me, but a lot of people are feeling uneasy.

And the anxiety had grown with every chase of the day. Especially the fright of the young children is terrible, and the anomalies are clearly approaching, such as the fact that they will not be able to leave their mothers.

Lockhart family system, but his brother Rodrick moved to the city of Kilnarek. I disputed this decision in a rare and strong tone for my warm brother.

"My place is this castle! If we evacuate the children to Kilnarek, it shouldn't be a problem!

My brother insisted that if he evacuated his three children, including his eldest son Dean, the Rockhart family's runoff would not be interrupted. In contrast, my father overtakes it with perseverance.

"If the Deans survive, the Lockhart family will remain even if we are wiped out. But who's going to warn the empire, the Kaum kingdom, and the city of Periclitle about what happened here? There's nothing you can do but be a man."

"If it's just a warning, it's possible with Rosalie and a civilian!

My brother doesn't give in even that, he's absurd in his voice.

"You take over this house. As families and ministers fight, you must be prepared to remain alone."

My father, as a lord, has experienced many times a situation in which he cannot stand on the front lines himself. I suppose you want your next lord, your brother, to experience and grow up with that pain as well.

Did my brother also find out what my father was trying to say, he silences himself with a remorseful look. And after about thirty seconds of silence, he stared firmly at his father and agreed that he was ready.

"I will wait for the good news in Kilnarek. But Rosalie and the kids will stay here."

"Right. If the Lockhart family had escaped, their anxiety would have increased."

My brother and father both want to move their beloved family to a safe place. However, it is not necessarily unlikely that there will be any villagers who think that this village cannot be defended if the men and women move to a safe fortified city. That could lower the vigilante's morale.

Furthermore, his brother advanced the concentration of his power.

"Of Kilnarek's guards, Byron and his immediate report will be turned here. The fact that Kilnarek will be on the battlefield is after this place loses. That doesn't make any sense if you had some power."

Byron Seedorf is Kilnarek's defensive captain and reports directly to several of his squire from the village of Rasmore. Byron, of course, and his squire are those who have survived his grandfather's tough trials and are sufficiently helpful in battle.

As a result, Byron, who is often in Kilnarek, is now back in the village of Rasmore as well. The hole my brother fell out of is huge, but he will fill that hole.

I had a night without anything happening that day either.

Concerned about the night raid, a search-light-shaped magic fixture continues to stretch its columns of light toward the sky from the rooftops of Lockhart Castle. Also, all the castle windows had steel shutters unloaded and switched to combat mode.

We're moving from our usual distance to a room in the castle, too. This is to allow us mages to attack right off the roof of the castle.

Likewise the ministers are evacuated with their families to the castle at night.

Me and Liddy, Sharon are exempt from sleeping at night, so they're resting in their rooms, but they're really shallow to sleep in the harsh atmosphere and wake up again and again.

Still, I had a morning without a thing. However, the discomfort felt ticklish in the neck muscles is stronger than ever.

"You don't feel right. It's best to run away at times like this, but that's not how it works."

Beatrice feels the same way, spilling foolishness on me.

The day after tomorrow is the Spring Festival, but this air is also spreading to the village, with little preparation for the festival.

After breakfast, go up to the tower on the roof with Liddy and Dan.

Sunny weather has been spreading since morning, but for some reason I don't feel refreshed. On the contrary, I even feel disastrous from that blue sky.

"I think something's going on in the east," Liddy says, staring at the snow-covered mountains of Aquila.

"Does it feel like something's going on in the mountains?

"I don't know, but I feel farther away. Maybe Luna and the others are in danger..."

I turned my consciousness to the eastern sky to the word.

I do feel a strong force. It is a pure force with no sense of evil, distinctly different from the resentment unleashed by Ghost and other undead. I also felt that it was just incompatible with us.

"I feel it too... I feel similar to the power of the dark demons of that time..."

That's what I say. I shudder brutally.

"I just thought the same thing. Maybe Luna and the others are fighting..."

After breakfast, my father and grandfather decided to evacuate non-combatants to Kilnarek.

I haven't even seen the enemy yet, but my toddler was frightened by the unusual forces, and I thought I'd let him go a little farther before he got wounded in the spirit.

Among them are his brother's children and Dan's son, Leon.

Sister-in-law Rosalie and Dan's wife Elena proclaim with perseverance, "We will stay here," leaving the children with Enos Vassel's wife Gene, who herself holds the sword and wears armor.

Ask the Lockhart family owned carriages and carriages as well as village shops and blacksmith guilds to help arrange about thirty carriages.

The horses in the stables of Kanga Hill were on their way to Kilnarek to pull the carriage, and livestock such as sheep and cattle were also evacuated with the villagers.

The livestock were also frightened, because they panicked with a little noise. Sometimes I miss the meadows around Kanga Hill more than usual.

It is about twenty kilometers to Kilnarek, and the carriage will arrive before sunset even if it leaves in the afternoon.

Nearly five hundred people because they can ride about fifteen people a day. It hits almost half the population of the village of Rasmore today.

The escort will be accompanied by a horseback squad led by Sim Marron, and they will be back in the village as soon as tomorrow morning.

All the remaining villagers were already armed with the intention of fighting.

In addition to about four hundred registered with the vigilante, hundred housewives trained in crossbows (crossbows) also wear simple armor and look anxiously at the sky near the castle with the crossbow at hand.

Scott and his distillers did not take refuge and are still brewing alcohol. For once, I went to teach him to evacuate, but he smiled and turned it down.

"Fermentation and distillation are stopped, but wheat (malting) is on the way. Well, if you have to, we'll run into an underground warehouse, so you'll be fine."

It is in the middle of malting the barley into malt (malt) and must be stirred every few hours. This process is an important step in determining the flavor due to the difficulty of temperature control and the use of peat.

"When the alarm goes off, don't get lost. There's no liquor for your lives."

The craftsmen nodded loudly and went back to work.

I had a night without anything happening that day either.

March 30th.

The sky is covered in thick clouds and the weather is still going to rain.

It would have been a glorious day because it was supposed to be the eve of the Spring Festival, but today the fully armed vigilantes are waiting around the castle.

Breakfast is finished at 7: 00 a.m. and geared up.

Liddy and Sharon are ready on the roof of the castle, and Beatrice and Mel are waiting with their respective troops.

I had no unit of my own and was supposed to take command of the whole thing with my father. For this reason, on behalf of my father, I will go and see how the vigilantes are doing.

The vigilantes had an uneasy look the younger they were, and the veterans also took care of their weapons with a tense face.

There was a group in there that emitted a strong presence. It's a bunch of dwarves dressed in Skyle Mail and with a big hammer in their hands.

About thirty people, headed by Beltram, are in formation in front of a barrel of Scotch that they were carrying in at some point. Most of them were young people who were coming to learn how to manufacture distillers (pot stills), and they felt motivated to protect the "sanctuary".

"What do you think? Have you had any information," asks Bertram with a serious expression sometime.

"So far, we don't have any information from the scout team."

We have formed a reconnaissance squad around Guy Jakes' men and have been sending them to the East Forest since yesterday morning. Three squads composed of first-rate scouts are conducting reconnaissance on different routes, but there are still no signs of smoke rising on the wolf smoke table.

"Something happens in the meantime today. You think the same thing."

Shut up and nod at Beltram's question.

The Dwarves on the spot seem to think the same thing, and they have strength in their jock-shaking hands.

Troops that sent residents back to Sim Marron and other Kilnarek around 10 a.m. Now we have enough power.

But things like chills get stronger.

Some housewives and young vigilantes have pale faces, while others have dark expressions.

I realize that and head to my father's room.

"Gather everyone together for a speech, please. I'm not going to be able to move properly as I am, except for the ancient ginseng and the dwarf."

My father was also concerned, he says, "Right," and gives instructions to Enos, the housekeeper.

"Gather in front of the castle all but the guards and air defense tower personnel. Tell everyone about this aftermath."

Enos left his father's room saying, "I understand," he said.

"You think there's a raid in the middle of the day?

Rather than asking me, it feels like I'm telling myself.

"There will probably be. I don't think it's easy to think that nothing's going to happen because it makes you feel this bad."

"I haven't seen it, do you think Vanitas will be here..."

Does my father feel weak, he looks anxious. Answer the word as lightly as possible.

"There isn't," I assure you.

"Why is that? I feel this much power..."

Make a face that you can't believe my words.

"It was also in Professor Erbain's paper, but Vanitas is subject to certain restrictions. They didn't even get their hands on us in the depths of Aquila. That's not going to get your hands on me right now. And Vanitas has to deal with Luna and Mr. Arklight. You can't imagine coming to us, ignoring the God-blessed destiny."

Say "Sure you do," to my explanation, and get some room back.

"Let's explain that to the inhabitants. That the enemy would be about the same as Vlad king of the undead. Yeah, I'll tell him you said yes, but you don't mind."

"Yeah, no problem. Don't hesitate to use it if you say it's my idea and everyone will believe me"

I talk like that, but I don't believe it myself.

It's just my imagination that the Lunas aren't fighting. If the Lunas had already been defeated, it could be enough for Vanitas to come and erase me next.

It can also be assumed that the lack of movement during the winter was already settled and that there was no need to hurry.

I haven't told anyone about this, including Liddy. Because I think it's going to be real if I say it, for no reason.

In a light chat with my father comes a report from Enos saying, "We've got everyone together".

"Okay. I'm going now," he said, holding a polished helmet and Adamantite sword, following Enos to the balcony. I follow you both.

When I opened the heavy shutter and went outside, I heard a zazzling voice coming from below.

I rarely get my private language heard in a situation like this usually, but it still seems to be floating.

Admitting what my father looks like, my private language stops.

"I think this is something we all feel, but we're going to be attacked here today"

In those words, the vigilantes give a discouraged look, as if they were "Yaharika”. I guess you wanted me to tell you that I got information that I'm not coming here.

"I spoke with Zach earlier, and the enemy should assume that it is led by a demon about Vlad, king of the undead..."

Darken your expression further into the words. Those who knew about the time remembered that desperate battle, and those who did not know also remembered the stories heard in the liquor store.

"... which means our victory is promised!

So the vigilantes bother again.

My father ignores it and keeps talking.

"Think about it. Compared to eight years ago, our power is greatly enhanced. Zach, who traveled the world, says the Lockhart family has far more power than the strongest mercenary regiment, the Marcut Mercenary Corps. This is his (or) hero, Red Arm Hamish, who himself affirmed!

Furthermore, he talks to his neighbor with the face that the vigilante is incredible.

That's where I replace my father.

"I drink with Lord Hamish and Ars. That's when I did hear it in these ears! That we wouldn't have been able to fight through the undead against ourselves! The hero who defeated 3,000 oaks in Millice Valley took his hat off to the Lockhart family! I honestly don't know how many enemies or how strong they are! But Vlad or the Warlord (Archdemon) fought in Aquila! If we join forces, there's no need to be afraid!

And I take my father's place again.

"Anxiety strikes, but it is my and Zach's conclusion that this is enemy hands! Our enemies are using their hands against us! Do we need to be frightened of our enemies?

"" Ooh!! "" The vigilante responds with a roar.

"The enemy is close! I want you to follow the orders of each captain and fight as hard as you can! That's it!"

With that said, my father turns his heel back and returns to his room. Behind it were the cheers of the vigilantes.

When I got back to my room, I asked, "Is that going to work out?" He has such a tired look on his face that he doesn't think he's the one who inspired him on the balcony.

My father also instinctively thinks that more powerful enemies will come than Vlad, and I guess he has a strong feeling that he has deceived the villagers.

"I don't think you need to be heartbroken if your current speech will increase your chances of winning at all. And I'm not always lying."

"Right......" and the alarm bell goes off.

Immediately after that, Enos rushed in.

"It's a signal to the forest wolf smoke table." Enemy discovery ”! There have been reports of dragon-like demons seen further afield!

Looks like the enemy finally showed up.
