Chapter 61: THE TACTICAL CONSOLIDATION OF SECTOR 2
The roaring sea winds off the Pacific coastline gradually calmed as the thick, dark smoke from the burning hulks of the Aegis-Class Floating Battleships drifted over the horizon.
Sixty miles east of Sector 1, the ocean surface was littered with floating steel debris, shattered mana-barriers, and crushed tactical artillery turrets. General Viktor Vance and the remaining survivors of the Global Vanguard Fleet had been forced into a desperate, chaotic retreat toward international waters, leaving behind nearly half of their heavy warships as burning monuments to the Sovereign’s absolute territorial dominance.
High above the Pacific ocean line, hovering on the glowing, spectral skull of the five-hundred-meter Shadow Dragon Leviathan, Renan looked back toward the smoking skyline of the Capital City.
The black Monarch armor wrapping around his chest, arms, and shoulders slowly dissolved into wisps of midnight-black miasma, storing itself back into his shadow. The physical strain of holding nearly forty thousand physical stat points subsided into a deep, rhythmic hum within his core, leaving his eyes glowing with an intense, amber golden light.
[Absolute Extraction System: Post-Battle Status Report]
Active Sovereign Domain: Sector 1 (Capital) & Maritime Perimeter Secured
Shadow Army Capacity: 22,900 Active Units
Current Physical Stat Total: 37,850 Points
Current System Rank: Sovereign Monarch (Apex Tier-National)
Shadow Commander James materialized from the shadows beneath Renan’s boots, kneeling smoothly on the dragon’s dark scales while holding an illuminated holographic tactical map of the surrounding provinces.
"My Monarch," James reported, his layered, double-toned voice echoing crisp and clear above the howl of the high-altitude wind. "The remnants of the Global Vanguard Fleet have broken engagement line and retreated beyond our maritime boundary. Radar confirms they are forming a defensive perimeter three hundred miles offshore, well outside your active domain."
"Let them sit on the open ocean," Renan replied, his coat fluttering as he turned his back on the sea. "They brought two hundred SS-Rank Hunters to test our perimeter, only to leave their flagships in the ocean trench. The World Federation will not dare launch another direct naval assault without months of preparation."
"Understood, Master," James said, adjusting the holographic projection to focus on the landmass directly west of Sector 1. "However, internal intelligence from our shadow scouts along the regional borders indicates new movement within Sectors 2 and 3."
Renan’s golden eyes narrowed slightly as he looked at the flashing crimson markers dotting the neighboring provincial sectors.
"Elaborate," Renan commanded.
"While you were neutralizing the Tier-EX Dungeon Break beneath the Association Tower and repelling the international fleet, the five largest regional Guild Masters in Sectors 2, 3, and 4 activated their private military protocols," James explained, zooming in on three massive, heavily fortified guild fortresses built into the mountainous regions of Sector 2. "They have seized control of the regional mana-crystal refineries, cut off power lines to the civilian sectors, and established an illegal armed coalition known as the Provincial Hunter Alliance."
Renan listened silently as James tapped a command into the tablet, pulling up high-definition dossiers of the three key figures leading the regional rebellion.
[Target Profile: Regional Guild Coalition Leaders]
Guild Master Carlos (S-Rank Heavy Destroyer) — Leader of the Iron Aegis Guild (Sector 2). Guild Master Rebecca (S-Rank Shadow Assassin) — Leader of the Viper Blade Syndicate (Sector 3). Guild Master Harrison (S-Rank Arcane Strategist) — Leader of the Titan Vanguard (Sector 4).
"They are spreading propaganda through local radio towers, claiming that the Association in Sector 1 fell due to an unsanctioned monster invasion," James continued. "They are attempting to consolidate forty regional Dungeons and three thousand private mercenary Hunters to build an independent warlord territory before our legion advances."
Renan let out a low, cold laugh that made the air surrounding the shadow dragon flicker with dark kinetic ripples.
"A warlord territory," Renan murmured softly. "They saw the capital burn, they saw the international fleet retreat, and instead of submitting, they believe they can carve out tiny kingdoms from my soil."
"Shall we deploy the Shadow Dragon Leviathan to carpet-bomb Sector 2 from the air, My Monarch?" Shadow General Ignis asked, stepping forward from behind Renan, its massive broadsword ignited in low, hungry black flames.
"No," Renan said, raising his hand to halt Ignis. "Indiscriminate destruction will only ruin the mana-crystal refineries and subterranean vaults in Sector 2. We need those resources intact to fuel the expansion of our Shadow Legion."
Renan looked down toward the central plaza of Sector 1, where thousands of Shadow Knights and newly extracted Abyssal Shadow Beasts stood in precise, military ranks awaiting his order.
"Furthermore, President James and the true leadership of the National Hunter Association did not vanish into thin air," Renan analyzed, his sharp mind piecing together the political chessboard. "The avatar we executed on the global broadcast at the Association Tower was merely a high-grade magical puppet—a decoy meant to draw our attention while the real President James, the Three Pillars of the Nation, and their executive enforcers retreated into the Class-S Underground Vault beneath the capital’s deepest foundations."
Shadow Commander Ronald nodded in agreement, his spectral hands crackling with dark arcane energy. "It is a classic siege tactic, Master. President James is allowing the regional Guild Masters to fight us in the open, hoping to exhaust our Shadow Legion and draw out our strength while he prepares the Ancient Relic Weapons sealed within the Class-S Bunker."
"Then we will play their game," Renan declared, his golden eyes flashing with ruthless tactical precision. "We will systematically dismantle the Regional Guild Coalition in Sectors 2, 3, and 4. We will strip them of their private dungeons, harvest their three thousand mercenaries, and absorb their stat cores."
Renan turned to Shadow Commander Beatrice and Shadow Commander Sylas.
"Beatrice, take five hundred winged Abyssal Shadow Beasts and establish an absolute air embargo over Sectors 2 and 3. No regional transport aircraft or communication signals leave their airspace."
"By your command, My Monarch," Beatrice bowed, her dark wind wrapping around her spectral form as she vanished into the clouds.
"Sylas," Renan continued, turning to his shadowy speedster commander. "Infiltrate the outer perimeter of Sektor 2. Locate the central mana-crystal refinery of the Iron Aegis Guild and sever their automated defense grid before midnight."
"It shall be done before the moon reaches its apex, Master," Sylas hissed, melting into the shadows beneath the dragon’s scales.
Renan looked out over the vast expanse of Sector 2 stretching toward the western mountains. The afternoon sun cast long, amber rays over the sprawling industrial complexes and high-tech guild fortresses in the distance.
"They believe they are building a fortress to protect their wealth," Renan whispered, stepping to the very edge of the Shadow Dragon’s head as it turned its massive five-hundred-meter body toward Sector 2. "They are merely digging their own graves."
The colossal shadow dragon let out a low, earth-shaking rumble, spreading its massive wings as it descended toward the provincial border, leading twenty-two thousand shadow soldiers into the opening phase of the Regional Suppression Campaign.
