Every Sentinel I Dreamed of Came Looking for Me

Chapter 49: Si Jin, Do You Want to Destroy Her?

Si Jin’s gaze swept suggestively over Yun Sheng’s moist, rosy lips, his voice dangerous and intimate.

Yun Sheng’s face flushed so red it looked ready to drip blood.

A mixture of shame, indignation, embarrassment, and the flustered panic of being seen through washed over her, making her want to find a hole to crawl into and hide.

"What nonsense are you spouting! Who—who’s dissatisfied?"

She struggled to pull her hand back, her voice sharp with anger, but it lacked any real force due to her wavering confidence.

"Am I wrong?" Si Jin countered in a low voice, his gaze roving over her face as if hooked on her. "Then just a moment ago... who was it that closed their eyes, looking ready for the taking?"

"I was... I was..."

His question left Yun Sheng speechless.

What could she say?

’That she was doing it for the sake of their partnership? To prove her value? That’s why... she acted like that?’

’That sounded more like some kind of sordid proposition!’

Seeing her adorable state—a mixture of indignation and shame, unable to form a defense—the darkness in Si Jin’s eyes seemed to deepen.

He released his grip on Yun Sheng’s wrist, but his fingertips trailed slowly down her forearm before gently tapping her still-burning cheek.

"Remember, your demonstration isn’t over. When we start again next time, be more proactive."

With that said, Si Jin’s arms suddenly tightened, and he swept a still-weak-kneed Yun Sheng up into a princess carry.

"Ah!"

Yun Sheng let out a small cry, instinctively wrapping her arms around his neck to steady herself.

Si Jin set her down securely on the sofa across from them. His movements weren’t gentle, but they weren’t rough, either.

Only then did he straighten up crisply, take a step back, and put a definitive distance between them.

With the distance, the almost suffocating pressure and searing, intimate tension between them mostly dissipated.

Yun Sheng sat on the sofa, her breathing still unsteady and her cheeks still warm. The spots on her wrist and cheek where he had touched her seemed to tingle with a phantom sensation.

She watched Si Jin, who stood a few steps away, his indifferent mask back in place, and her feelings were a complicated, indescribable mess.

Si Jin, however, didn’t look at her, acting as if their recent intimate, charged encounter had never happened.

He turned and strode toward the window, his back ramrod straight and resolute.

"I’ll find you again."

With his back still to her, he left her with this brief instruction. Then, in a flash, his figure shot out of the open window and vanished.

The room fell suddenly silent.

Only Yun Sheng remained, sitting on the sofa, trying to calm her still-erratic breathing and racing heart.

Even though Si Jin was clearly gone, the air seemed to hang heavy with the cold, dangerous aura he had left behind.

Yun Sheng lifted a hand, her fingertips unconsciously brushing against her lips and still-burning cheeks. It was as if the lingering touch of his fingers and the warmth of his breath still remained.

Her gaze happened to fall on the floor by her feet.

Si Jin’s spiritual body, the little dog, had at some point silently curled up by her feet.

It was looking up at her with its head tilted, its impossibly beautiful blue eyes watching her quietly.

Looking at the puppy’s innocent, docile expression, the last dregs of Yun Sheng’s frustration and flustered anger suddenly found a peculiar outlet.

She bent down, scooped up the little dog, and hugged it to her chest.

The puppy was exceptionally docile. It even shifted to find a more comfortable position to nestle in, rubbing its furry head against her arm.

Holding it, Yun Sheng began to pet the dog with a vengeance.

Her fingers unceremoniously ruffled the fur on its fluffy head and tweaked its soft ears. She then stroked firmly down its sleek, glossy back again and again, even deliberately scratching its furry chin and belly.

The puppy was tousled about this way and that, but it never struggled or made a sound of complaint, simply allowing her to "torment" it.

"Hmph. This is for your master bullying me..."

Yun Sheng muttered under her breath as she ruffled the dog’s fur, as if she could reclaim some of the pride she’d lost to Si Jin.

Meanwhile, Si Jin himself, who hadn’t actually gone far, was concealed in a top-floor room of an Advanced residential building on the other side.

Si Jin: "..."

Through the shared senses of his spiritual body, he could see Yun Sheng cuddling the little dog, manhandling it while muttering her complaints.

A strange sensation, a mixture of ticklishness and a secret flutter of excitement, slowly made its way to him.

The corners of his mouth twitched upward involuntarily.

’This woman...’

’She’s got some nerve!’

Si Jin shook his head, trying to suppress the absurd and... indescribable feeling in his mind.

However, in the very instant his concentration wavered...

A furtive yet needle-sharp probing sensation, like a cold spider’s silk, silently crept in from outside the complex, instantly sweeping over the villa area he was in.

’A spiritual power probe!’

’And the purity and strength of this spiritual power...’

Si Jin’s pupils contracted. All traces of emotion vanished from his eyes, replaced by sharp vigilance and a murderous chill.

’It’s Bai Ye!’

’What is he doing here?’

’Is it a coincidence, or... is he after me?!’

Si Jin instantly suppressed his presence to the absolute minimum.

However, as the probing spiritual power swept through the area, it hesitated for a fraction of a second before becoming more focused and targeted.

’He’s locking onto me!’

’Could it be that I left some trace when I lingered near the Tower today, or even earlier, and Bai Ye picked up on it?’

There was no time to think. Si Jin knew concealment was no longer an option.

He acted decisively, his figure flitting away like a phantom.

He didn’t flee toward the exit of the residential complex, but instead dashed toward the more densely vegetated landscaped area within, attempting to use the terrain to shake his pursuer’s lock.

SWISH...

A pure, condensed arrow of silver spiritual power, as if anticipating his every move, shot out to intercept his path with perfect precision.

The arrow struck the trunk of a decorative tree just in front of Si Jin, bursting into a silent ripple of energy.

A smooth, clean hole was instantly bored through the thick trunk.

Si Jin’s figure came to an abrupt halt, just a meter from the energy ripple.

He slowly turned around.

A tall figure in the white uniform of the Star Alliance stood quietly at the edge of the shadows nearby, as if he had materialized out of thin air.

It was Bai Ye.

He took a step forward. A pure, immense Spiritual Force Field radiated from him like an invisible tide, slowly spreading out with immense pressure to envelop the area.

His cold, stern gaze landed heavily on the seemingly plain, unfamiliar face across from him.

"Si Jin," he said, his voice steady and his tone certain. "It really is you."

Si Jin raised an eyebrow, a low, inscrutable hum escaping his throat.

"You have a sharp nose. Most people can’t see through this face of mine."

Bai Ye ignored the mockery in his tone. His gaze swept imperceptibly toward the distant Lin Family Villa, and his expression grew heavier.

"You’re here for Yun Sheng, aren’t you? Si Jin, what exactly are you planning to do to her! Even if you seem lucid right now, you’ve already degenerated into a Dark Sentinel!

The last two times she was near you, she was lucky to get away. But have you ever considered the consequences if she fails to escape?

Si Jin, are you trying to destroy her!"
