Si Jin’s body stiffened for an instant.

His memories of losing control were chaotic and blurry, but he knew better than anyone the terrifying and uncontrollable nature of his spiritual power when he went berserk.

The urge to destroy, to devour all reason and reality, still sent a chill down his spine just thinking about it.

And Yun Sheng... the previous two times she had seen him, her eyes had been filled with instinctual wariness and fear.

At the thought, an indescribable irritation churned in Si Jin’s chest, along with... a pang of pain he refused to examine too closely.

"Shut up!" he snarled.

A deeper, more terrifying dark aura erupted from him with the force of a savage beast shattering its chains.

"You have no right to judge my affairs. And as for why I’m here... it’s none of your concern!"

"None of my concern?"

Bai Ye’s spiritual power flowed out like liquid mercury, silently sealing off all of Si Jin’s escape routes.

"Si Jin, you’re a fugitive wanted by the Star Alliance. Your very presence in the Capital Star’s core district is a major offense. Give yourself up and come with me to the Tower for interrogation!"

The corner of Si Jin’s mouth curved into a cold arc.

’Go back to the Tower?’

’That’s no different from a death sentence!’

"Just you?"

He shifted his stance slightly, searching for a weak point in Bai Ye’s spiritual power blockade.

The time for talk was over.

Bai Ye’s gaze sharpened, and he wasted no more words.

He lifted his hands, and countless silver blades of light, so condensed they seemed solid, instantly materialized in the air and scythed toward Si Jin.

Si Jin snorted, his form blurring like a phantom as he left a trail of afterimages in his wake.

He narrowly dodged the blades just as they reached him. Eerie blue flames gathered at his fingertips, clashing with the blades time and again, both being annihilated in the process.

Bai Ye frowned slightly.

Si Jin was far more elusive than he had anticipated. Moreover, he seemed to be deliberately limiting the scope of the destruction.

This wasn’t the behavior of a crazed Dark Sentinel.

’What is he holding back for? Or... does he have some other agenda?’

Doubts bloomed in his mind, but his attacks only grew fiercer.

The number and speed of the blades increased sharply, making the blockade net even finer.

The pressure on Si Jin intensified. He knew he couldn’t drag this out!

Bai Ye was SSS-level, just like him, but Si Jin’s spiritual body wasn’t with him. A prolonged battle was not to his advantage. Furthermore, the sustained energy fluctuations could attract more backup from the Tower.

A blue light flashed in his eyes as he deliberately feigned an opening.

Bai Ye seized the opportunity instantly. A solidified Spirit Rope shot like lightning toward Si Jin’s vital points.

Yet, in the instant before impact, the "target" before him wavered and dissipated.

’A spiritual afterimage!’

The real Si Jin had already focused his Dark Power to its peak, ramming it violently into the temporary gap that Bai Ye’s attack had created in his spiritual net.

HUMMM!

Amidst a dull spiritual tremor, Si Jin forced his way out. The fabric on his left shoulder tore, and a searing pain shot through him.

He didn’t linger. Instantly retracting and concealing his spiritual power, his figure melted into the surroundings as he fled at full speed toward the complex terrain away from the Lin Family Villa.

Bai Ye’s expression darkened. He hadn’t expected Si Jin to be so decisive and cunning.

He immediately gathered his spiritual power, his figure transforming into a silver streak of light in hot pursuit.

...

「Lin Family Residence, Second-Floor Bedroom」

Yun Sheng gave the little puppy a thorough mauling of cuddles, only stopping reluctantly when she felt her mood had lightened considerably.

She’d ruffled the puppy’s fur into a mess, but it still lay obediently on her lap, gazing up at her with watery blue eyes.

Seeing its expression, Yun Sheng couldn’t help but laugh again and gently booped its nose.

"Alright, alright. I’ll stop picking on you."

Just as she was about to set the puppy down on the carpet, a cold glint suddenly flashed in its eerie blue eyes.

The next second, it leaped gracefully from Yun Sheng’s lap, its body seeming to melt into the air as it vanished without a sound.

Yun Sheng froze, instantly realizing something must have happened to Si Jin.

But she had no way to contact Si Jin, no way to ask, and certainly not the ability to follow. Besides, Su Wan was waiting for her downstairs.

She took a deep breath, straightened her slightly messy hair and clothes, and then opened the door to head downstairs.

Downstairs in the living room, Su Wan sat on the sofa, holding a cup of steaming herbal tea. Her gaze was fixed on the window, and she seemed to have something on her mind.

She immediately turned her head at the sound of footsteps.

"Shengsheng."

Su Wan watched Yun Sheng approach, her eyes carefully scanning the girl’s face, her concern and worry practically spilling out.

"How are you? Does your head still hurt? A spiritual power backlash is no small matter. Should we call a Healer over to take another look?"

Yun Sheng stopped and shook her head. "Thank you for your concern, ma’am. I’m much better. The Healer from the Tower checked me and said it was just a minor shock. It’s nothing serious, and I just need to get more rest."

Hearing the words "nothing serious," Su Wan’s tense shoulders relaxed a little.

She quickly grabbed a small medicine box from the coffee table and pressed it into Yun Sheng’s hand, giving her no room to refuse.

"This is a very effective soothing agent. Take it. If you start feeling unwell again, make sure to take it. Don’t try to just endure it."

"Thank you, ma’am. I will," Yun Sheng said quietly.

Su Wan took the opportunity to pull her down onto the sofa. She herself, however, had a slight frown on her face, her hands clasped together unconsciously.

After a brief silence, she finally sighed, her tone complex as she spoke.

"Shengsheng... I’ve already heard about what happened in the training room at the Tower today. Yue Yao... she may have been rash, and her methods were wrong, but I don’t think she intended to hurt you, or... that she had any malicious intent. Shengsheng, please don’t misunderstand her."

Yun Sheng listened in silence, her expression unreadable, but the fingers clutching the medicine box tightened.

Seeing her silent, unresponsive state, Su Wan grew more anxious. Her lips parted, just as she was about to explain further...

BOOM!!!

A dull but incredibly penetrating boom, accompanied by a heart-stopping shockwave of spiritual power, erupted from outside.

The glass windows of the living room rattled, and the chandelier overhead swayed.

Yun Sheng’s heart leaped, and she shot up from the sofa in an instant, whipping her head around to look out the window.

’This is no ordinary commotion!’

She immediately connected it to the puppy’s strange disappearance. ’Could Si Jin really be in trouble?’

’I just made a deal with Si Jin. He hasn’t even fulfilled his promise yet... He can’t get into trouble at a time like this!’

"Ma’am, it sounds like something’s happening outside! I’m going to check it out!"

Yun Sheng blurted out the words and rushed toward the main door before Su Wan could even react.

"Shengsheng, it’s dangerous outside, don’t go out!"

Su Wan shouted anxiously after her, but Yun Sheng had already yanked open the door and rushed into the courtyard.

The afternoon sun was bright, but what was even more blinding were the two terrifying, colossal shadows locked in combat in the distant sky!

A majestic, silver-white Holy Light White Tiger was locked in fierce, mid-air combat with a pitch-black Abyssal Giant Wolf that radiated an aura of pure destruction.

The sheer scale of the battle before her made Yun Sheng’s breath catch in her throat, and she stopped dead in her tracks.

Yet, the very instant she stepped out of the house, the two terrifying behemoths in the sky, locked in a desperate struggle, seemed to sense something. Both faltered in unison.

The two colossal beasts, in the very same instant, ceased their life-or-death battle and fixed their gazes on the suddenly-appeared Yun Sheng!
