Falling Mage and the Power of Divergence
Episode 4: Parents of Seyya
On the rooftop was an old man in a blue suit with a little gentle eyes. There are black beards around the mouth, and the impression is that it feels like a gentle uncle.
To tell the truth, he was the dean of this Senavian School of Magic and at the same time a man named Edward, guardian of Seyya.
Edward and Seyya first met when Seyya was ten.
At the time Seyya had lost her memory and wandered through the city of Windistan. We were protected by Edward by chance, and since then Seyya and Edward have been living together.
Edward had no children, so he adored Seyya like his real son and taught him magic as well. But such happiness soon comes to an end.
Parents of students attending the Senavian School of Magic began to raise their voices about how the school director of the School of Magic teaches magic to one individual.
At first it was Edward who said he would adopt him about Seyya, but he learned of Seyya's birth and abilities, stopped by other clans, and Edward had no choice but to let go of the crying Seyya thing.
But still, at least Edward decided to let Seyya live in the villa he owned and enroll him in the Senavian School of Magic within reach of his own eyes.
Since Seyya's admission to the Senavian School of Magic, the two of them have been seeing each other on the roof one day on a full day off.
Edward is like a real father to Seyya and at the same time a master of magic.
Even so, talking every day is about no other love. But this time was very important to both of us.
And even today, Edward makes a suggestion that is in Seyya.
"Seyya, I think of you like a son"
"Thank you, Doctor. I think of my teacher like a father."
"Then be my son. If you adopt her, she'll never be called Annone and despised again."
Edward knows the bullying Seyya is getting.
But in his position, I can't get involved in not being a problem. If Seyya asked for help, she could get her hands on it right away, but Seyya never asked Edward for help.
I don't want to bother Edward any more. Because the thought was in Seyya's heart.
That's why he suggests to Seyya to be his adopted son many times.
If Seyya were to be adopted by Edward, Seyya would get a definite family pattern and now bullying would naturally disappear. But Seyya did not accept it resolutely.
Even if the clan goes through the process of adopting him once where he disagrees, Seyya is already Edward's child. Edward is so prepared.
"Doctor, I can't do that. I've had a lot of help since my teacher protected me. [M] I can't bother you any more."
What Seyya calls a nuisance is that it was Annone who was greeted as an adopted son by the Senavian Magic Park Director.
Edward doesn't have any children, so picking up Seiya inevitably makes the next Lord Seiya.
If that happens, I'm going to scratch the name of Edward's clan.
Besides, there are a lot of tough legal things about adopting Seyya.
Seiya, who understands the place well, never took Edward's suggestion.
"Right. I don't give a shit about that, so tell me as soon as you change your mind."
Thank you, Doctor.
"Good luck with that, then."
So Dr. Edward walked out of the roof, but that back looks so sorry. And Edward, out of the roof, never noticed the person lurking near the door.
When the remaining seiya on the roof enters the third hour, she begins to practice herself.
I began by practicing the magic of light attributes in my body and began to wrap the magic of light attributes around Seyya. Yellow magic slowly envelops Seyya's body, but at the next moment, the magic of the light attribute plays and disappears.
Seyya stops practicing magic and puts her head on.
"Uh-huh, I knew I couldn't do it. It's tough to do it without chanting. Even so, I don't know the full chant because this magic is original."
Sayya, while saying that, once again trains the magic of light attributes in her body. The magic of the light attribute wraps around Seyya's body, but it quickly begins to fly and disappears.
Seiya sits down and tries to do the same thing again, but next time she starts flying in the same place.
What Seyya was trying was Seyya's original magic.
Original magic builds from theory, so chanting is hard to decide. So development takes a tremendous amount of time. For this reason, it is very rare for new magic to be developed in this world.
Seiya was trying to do that.
"Want me to put in a chant? But in the meantime, I used words of light attributes, enhancement and magic residency, but I didn't succeed..."
With such solitude, Seyya looks at the clouds that are floating in the sky as she sleeps in large letters.
Seiya tried to talk to Edward, her master, about the original magic she was trying right now, but she told me to stop right away.
Simple for a reason.
Because the magic of Seyya was already in the activation phase, even though the theory was not solid. Magic doesn't know when to get into a contingency if you don't understand the theory well.
Combining the wrong chants with each other can hurt the operator.
If I tell you, chanting is the same as chemistry. Even if it is not dangerous on its own, it can be harmful to the human body if mixed.
So Edward, who decided it was dangerous as it was, told Seyya to stop developing the new magic. But Seyya kept Edward secretly developing her magic.
That's because if this magic is completed, Seyya's combat abilities will increase dramatically. Maybe that way you can look back on the people who look down on you.
This new magic had such a Seiya wish.
Seyya went on to do the same thing many times after that until the end of the third hour, but in the end she never succeeded.
Entering the fourth hour of class, Seyya, unlike earlier, embarks on a new magic training.
Seyya begins chanting, gripping the branches of the tree.
"I, the one that receives the protection of light. Show me, the power of light 'Spread'"
When you finish the chant, the tree branches glow. Technically, tree branches were wrapped up in the magic of light attributes.
Seyya raises the amount of magic that pours into the branches.
Then the length of the branch triples. The length of the branches was not triple, but the wrapped light of the branches extended to three times the length of the branches.
Seyya keeps the length of light intact, then doubles the length.
I fastened it there when it doubled, and immediately tried to double it. But before it doubles, the branches break and the magic disappears.
"Damn, I knew it. A little softer, again"
The magic Seiya is practicing is called light attribute elementary magic, Optical Extension (Spread), which means that the length of the object can be extended with the magic of light attributes.
And what we're doing now is training branches to use light to change freely.
Seyya manipulated this magic freely during the battle, wondering if she could change the length of the sword freely.
The reason why it is a tree branch is because the sword in battle has an impact, so the sword breaks during battle if it seems to be breaking the branch in the now-impact state.
Seyya has done the same thing ever since, but broke branches every time, and in the end there was not a single piece of magic that succeeded in today's time for voluntary training.
And time goes on lunch break.
Seyya leaves school every day after lunch break. Heading there is a bakery a short distance from the school. The bakery's name is "Bake John," a store often brought to Edward in the past.
Seiya liked this store and always took it here for lunch. Once inside the store, "Bake John" pavilion owner John speaks to Seyya.
"There you are. Seiya"
"Hello Uncle"
"Always, okay?
"Yeah, please"
That said, John puts the bread on the tray. Seyya was already remembered for her regular routine.
John has a skinhead on his big body and a black, dark beard around his mouth, which feels frightening, but when I talk to him, he's a surprisingly gentle, very approachable man.
John gives Saiya the tray with the bread on it and receives the money from Saiya.
"Seiya, this is a service"
That's what I say. Melon bread, apple pie, and a bright red apple on top of an iced tea riding tray.
"Thanks"
"That's right, Seiya. Tell Edward's to come every once in a while."
"Okay, sweetheart."
Saiya, who answered that, takes the tray and sits on the open terrace and starts picking up lunch.
Seiya likes this store not only because the bread is delicious, but also because she doesn't have a magician.
Neither John, who is not a magician, nor any other regular customer, despises Annone about Seyya, and he treats me normally. For that reason, Seyya doesn't have to worry about it, so she always comes here for lunch.
Saiya contemplates her new style of combat as she eats bread.
Using two magics that I was self-trained to specialize in, I'm trying to establish my own new style of combat in proximity, but neither of them has yet succeeded, so it's difficult to achieve.
However, it is also true that once a new style of combat has been completed, Seyya's strength will be considerably higher. For that reason, I really want to get it done quickly.
Saiya's thinking style of combat is speed-oriented, ultra-middle range combat.
The only magic I was practicing in the third hour is the super melee type of combat in my favor, but it gets tough as soon as I get to mid-range.
For this reason, I was practicing "Optical Extension (Spread)" for the fourth hour, and was trying to cope with the problem. This style, which can be established only by simple magic, is the most suitable combat style for Seiya, who cannot use magic well.
Saiya returns the tray to John when she finishes her bread.
"Welcome. I'll be back."
"Whoa, good luck this afternoon. Seiya."
"Yeah."
Thanking John, Seyya went to school afternoon classes and hands-on training.
