Xiao Yu turned back and glared at him. "Get lost. I bet you just want to take this chance to cop a feel."

Just as Stone was about to cry foul, he saw Xiao Yu’s trembling hand reach for Gu Fei’s chest.

’So it’s not copping a feel when *you* do it?’ Stone grumbled inwardly.

He turned his back. See no evil. He was better off not watching this sort of thing.

Xiao Yu’s hand was halfway there when he pulled it back again.

Stone waited a moment before turning back. "My lord, did you search her yet?"

"Not yet," Xiao Yu said impatiently. "Don’t rush me!"

Stone was speechless. ’Just search her already, or cover her back up! It’s the middle of the night and freezing cold. After all this fuss, Miss Xiao Fei is guaranteed to catch a cold by morning.’

Xiao Yu stared at Gu Fei’s chest. ’If she could hide something anywhere on her body, this would be the only place.’

’It’s full there. It would be easy to hide something without it being noticed.’

’Didn’t Old Ma say the item wasn’t very big?’

Steeling himself, Xiao Yu finally reached out.

A moment later, his face flushed beet-red as he snatched his hand back. He frantically pulled the quilt over Gu Fei, then turned and bolted.

Stone asked, "My lord, did you find it? Where are you going?"

"Back!" Xiao Yu answered, his voice hoarse.

"My lord, we have to go this way! The door is over there!"

’We’re here as burglars. Are you planning to just swagger out the front door?’

The two of them climbed out the window, shutting it behind them. They scaled the wall, ran for a stretch, then quickly mounted their horses and galloped away.

Inside the room, Gu Fei sneezed, rolled over, and went back to sleep.

The entire way back, Xiao Yu couldn’t shake the smooth, slick feeling on his fingertips.

He furtively brought his hand to his nose, imagining he could smell a faint, sweet scent.

Xiao Yu viciously whipped the horse beneath him, his mind replaying the sensation of that touch over and over.

The next morning, Xiao Yu lay in bed, dazed, for a long time. Then, with a dark expression, he changed his trousers and stormed off to the Martial Arts Training Ground to vent his excess energy.

...

When Gu Fei woke up, she felt dizzy and light-headed.

She sniffled. Her nose was stuffy.

She felt the quilt. ’Is this quilt too thin?’

Gu Fei had no idea it wasn’t the quilt’s fault at all. The real culprit was a certain unscrupulous little thief who had left her on the cold floor to freeze.

After getting dressed, Gu Fei poured herself a glass of water, retrieved a cold pill from her space, and swallowed it.

After taking the medicine, Gu Fei suddenly remembered something and entered her space again.

She suddenly discovered that her space... had changed!

Before, the space had just been a plot of land about the size of two basketball courts, surrounded by a void.

But now, a few faint, almost imperceptible wisps of mist were floating within it.

If Gu Fei hadn’t been so intimately familiar with her space, she would have missed them completely.

’Could this be the legendary Spiritual Energy?’

Gu Fei blinked. ’Did something happen that I don’t know about?’

She wracked her brain, trying to recall the events of the past few days, but came up with nothing. ’Maybe it’s because nature’s spiritual energy is more abundant in this ancient era, so my space has started to evolve on its own?’

Unable to figure it out, Gu Fei put the thought aside. When she stepped out of her room, she saw her father, Gu Zhang, his face beaming with joy. "Little Fei, I read that book you gave me. This business idea is brilliant! If we can really make it happen, we’re sure to earn a fortune."
