Chapter 167: To Touch or Not to Touch
Xiao Yu stared at Gu Fei’s face and nodded. "It’s possible."
Just as Stone was about to act, Xiao Yu bent down and gave Gu Fei a shove. Swaddled in the quilt, she rolled like a human burrito toward the wall, hitting the wooden frame with a THUD.
Xiao Yu lifted Gu Fei’s pillow. There was nothing there.
Not giving up, he squeezed the pillow all over. It was completely soft, with no hard objects inside.
Xiao Yu stared at Gu Fei. "You think she might have hidden it in the quilt?"
Stone’s expression faltered. "Surely not. Isn’t that thing supposed to be dangerous? If she kept it in her quilt, wouldn’t she be afraid of killing herself?"
Xiao Yu thought for a moment. "We still have to check under the quilt."
He stretched his arm out to grab Gu Fei from the far side of the bed but couldn’t reach her. Instead, he grabbed the quilt and yanked it toward him. Like a log, Gu Fei rolled right back.
She rolled right to the edge of the bed and would have fallen off if Xiao Yu hadn’t been there to block her.
Xiao Yu threw back the quilt. Aside from Gu Fei herself, there was nothing.
Xiao Yu said grimly, "Do you think it could be under the mattress padding? Or... hidden on her body!"
Stone’s eyes went wide. "Young Master Heir, that... that’s not right! Gu Fei is a young lady, we can’t—"
Xiao Yu looked back at him. "Cut the crap. We’re already here. Are you suggesting we go back empty-handed?"
"If I don’t tell, and you don’t tell, no one will ever know."
"I’ll lift her up. You search the bed thoroughly. Flip over the mattress padding and look!"
"If you really find nothing, then I’ll search her."
Xiao Yu bent down and lifted Gu Fei into his arms. The moment he held her, he froze.
’So soft, so fragrant.’
Her body was fragrant and soft.
Inexplicably, Xiao Yu recalled the words of the young man he’d seen earlier under the moonlight: "Xing’er, your body is so soft..."
In that instant, a rush of heat surged through Xiao Yu. His grip went slack, and he nearly dropped Gu Fei.
Gu Fei lay unconscious in his arms. At some point, a Jade Pendant had slipped out from under his robes and was now pressed firmly against her arm.
Xiao Yu’s gaze fell irresistibly to Gu Fei’s face. In the moonlight, the girl’s features were delicate, her skin like polished jade. She was a hundred times more beautiful than she was during the day.
His gaze drifted lower. The young woman was wearing a white, crossover-collared inner robe. The fabric followed the curves of her figure, and the neckline revealed a patch of smooth, pale skin.
Xiao Yu’s throat bobbed. He quickly averted his eyes, his voice low and raspy. "Find anything?"
Stone was on his hands and knees on the bed, feeling around everywhere. He’d already tossed the mattress padding and quilts aside.
He’d even lifted the bed planks but still found nothing.
Xiao Yu grew impatient and wanted to search himself. But when he went to put Gu Fei down, there was nowhere to place her. He was afraid she’d slip off a chair. The only option was the floor.
’The floor it is, then.’
Afraid of waking Gu Fei, Xiao Yu didn’t dare just drop her. He carefully lowered her to the floor. He and Stone then tore the place apart, nearly dismantling the bed in their search, but they still found nothing.
Stone sagged with disappointment. "This girl... she’s way too good at hiding things. When I hide stuff, I usually just stick it in the bed."
Xiao Yu shot him a glare. "Hurry up and put the mattress padding back. I’ll bring the girl back up, and then I’ll search her."
’A grown man like me, having to make a bed in the middle of the night.’
He grumbled to himself as he struggled to put the mattress padding and quilts back in place.
Once everything was ready, Xiao Yu lifted Gu Fei back onto the bed.
He stared at the sleeping young woman. Now, the only place left to check was her person. ’Should I feel her up, or not?’
’Pah!’
’To search, or not to search?’
Watching from the side, Stone grew anxious. "Master, if you’re going to search, then do it quickly! Miss Xiao Fei is going to freeze."
"If you won’t do it, I will!"
