Chapter 86: When the divine blesses
-Turuuuuuuuuk.
-Kreeeeeeeeeinct!
-Truuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunk...!
Electric sparks flew around a large cube situated in a still pool of transparent fluid.
-Kreeeeeeeeeeeeeeinct!
The sparks, produced by the metallic coil present around the fluid, were powerful enough to destroy anything they might touch.
A human could be obliterated by a simple touch of these powerful sparks. But, the transparent fluid prevented anything bad from happening.
Beyond the coil, controlling the machine that produced these sparks, the great alchemist of Topaz looked at the data value which were reflected through the eyes of his beast partner: an ethereal jellyfish that floated beside him.
The creature analyzed the thing that they were making right now. So, maintaining his attention, the alchemist continued his work.
"Hs Hal kar la mai June..."
At the same time, on the other side of the room, working on what seemed like a hoop made of gold, the Holy Saint chanted the divine scriptures as holy runes surrounded his body.
Floating around him were small creatures of holy attribute, small creatures resembling honeybees.
They were creatures of pure element, and at the command of their master, they channeled the holy power through him and the hoop.
Right now, while the alchemist was working on the ’heart’ of the device, the holy saint was conjuring a divine miracle for the ’body’ of the device.
The two of them have been working for two days straight ever since the Sungrade patriarch brought the book with the production method of this unfathomable invention.
The alchemist was stunned how the alchemy and magic engineering could be paired up with holy techniques, but if that wasn’t enough, the final part of the production was going to require forbidden magic of form alteration: something the Dark Wizard was great at.
He was a master of magic and forbidden arts. And his expertise was going to be very useful this time.
-OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG!
The alchemist was done creating one of the most complex creations of his lifetime.
It was a device core that had three thousand different components, had fifty plus magic circles, and was made in a way that would solve most of their concerns.
’With this technology, we can automate the heat absorption and enhance the cooling function. At the same time, the complete device will continuously heal the body through holy power.’
The holy saint’s power had not worked on the emperor all this time because ’damage’ wasn’t happening on the surface.
According to the dark book, the flames of hell burnt the spiritual body of the individual which in turn affected the body instead of damaging it.
Biologically, the body was changing but not being destroyed, which meant the healing magic of the priests was useless to him.
This device, however, would change that.
’Who made this?’
No simple individual was capable of thinking of something so complicated.
They must have possessed an extraordinary knowledge of the body, the soul, as well as this phenomenon.
The Sungrade patriarch refused to disclose how he came to possess the dark book and this diary, but if this works, then things would change.
"Huuu." The alchemist was done with his part so he took a deep breath for now and focused on the holy saint.
His eyes were glowing bright yellow right now, and at the same time, the loop before him had started levitating.
The laboratory they were in was located in the far outskirts of the imperial capital.
It was a secluded place created underneath the ground.
The strange looking complicated machines and things present here were amazing to the eyes but they weren’t something just anyone can understand.
They were complex equipment meant for the unique alchemical or technical creations.
The place was a facility of the old alchemist, and in the place that stood as the temple of science, right now, a light had appeared on the ceiling.
-Zaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
A phenomenon that wasn’t explainable by science was seen as something fictional by the alchemists, but that same fictional phenomenon had appeared in his lab today.
"BLESS THEE!"
With the Holy saint as the medium, the light that originated out of nowhere was concentrated on the golden loop.
People called it a divine miracle, but, to the priests like the saint following the orthodox ways, this was a divine blessing.
"Haaaa... haaaaa..."
By blessing this special alloy loop, it was granted unnatural but phenomenal abilities.
The two who watched it, even as followers of different sciences, couldn’t help but gasp.
This divine miracle was something beyond them. But they still followed what they were here for.
"I’ll begin then."
According to the manufacturing manual in the diary, they needed to produce the cube core and then fuse it with a blessed ring of these particular dimensions.
The materials used in the creation of these things weren’t common. If anything they were very hard to find right away.
The Sungrade patriarch and the imperial advisor had arranged for one set of materials, so that was all they had on them.
This was their only chance.
-Ooooooooooooooooooong!
So, even though they were masters of their respective field, they had a certain fear in their heart.
-Zaaaaaaaaa!
The Dark wizard had begun casting the complex magic array mentioned in the diary.
-Swiiiiiiiiiiiish...!
The magic rivaled a (tier-6) great spell, something that might require around twenty mages.
It was complex and powerful enough to fall under the category of the forbidden spells, yet, the archmage who cast it seemed completely fine.
He was a national asset, an archmage of (tier-6). Just like the Sungrade patriarch he was also an Assimilator.
But he did not need the help of magical beasts to cast the great magic.
-OOOOOOOOOOOOOONG!
As mana channelled throughout the spell circle that appeared above them, the devices made to endure spells and mana started malfunctioning.
-Zuur. Zurr zurr.
Sparks flew from the spell, covering the entire laboratory.
Then, the blessed golden ring and the mechanical core were covered in a white light.
Slowly, the two objects began merging together, becoming a singular object.
The ring was shrinking while the cube had already become as small as a pebble.
-Swiiiiiiiiish...
When the spell process was concluded after an entire hour, what came out of the process was an utterly exhausted archmage who had depleted his immense amount of energy and a ring with a blue gem.
The two were different objects before, but now they were one.
It was just big enough to fit on someone’s head as an ornament, something that made the three people looking at it gasp in astonishment.
This was the result of almost three days of their work.
And since they were still alive... it seems like they have succeeded in creating the world’s first ever modern day Artifactor.
