"Well, you can say anything today."

Daniel picked up a glass of wine and inadvertently glanced at Janice and Yvonne who were chatting. He frowned, "Why does she look familiar?"

"She’s Brant White’s daughter," Christopher replied.

Daniel said, "Well, James, is she the future girlfriend you just talked about?" James nodded, "What’s wrong with it?"

Daniel was surprised slightly, but he sneered, "Oh, nothing, but I recently heard that the White family seems to be in trouble. It seems big trouble. The people in their families are looking for someone to take advantage of. You are pursuing her at this time. Are you trying to be the one to be taken advantage of?"

Hearing what Daniel said, James was not happy, "Nonsense! You’d better watch your tongue. She and the White family are different. Don’t get confused."

"James, should I say that you are innocent, or you are deceiving yourself? She is a member of the White family. Do you think the rise and fall of the White family have nothing to do with her?" Daniel sneered. James’s face instantly became cold. Upon seeing this, Christopher winked at Daniel. Daniel didn’t go on.

Janice pulled Christopher aside, and asked in a low voice, "Honey, what is your friend up to? Why did he suddenly move here?" Christopher knew she was asking it for Yvonne and said, "I don’t know what he is up to, but don’t worry, he won’t hurt Yvonne."

"Really?"

"Rest assured."

Janice was relieved when she heard Christopher say this. When the dinner started, Yvonne had wanted to leave, but was stopped by James, "Since you’re here, you should go back after dinner."

He forced her to sit back in the chair. Yvonne thought it inappropriate to lose her temper now, so she could only sit down. "Well, let’s drink to my new house." James sat beside her and raised his wine glass high. Upon seeing this, Christopher raised his glass of soft drink, and Daniel followed. Only Janice and Yvonne did not move.

James frowned, "Janice, aren’t you going to congratulate me?" Hearing this, Janice looked up and said, "I am a pregnant woman. I can’t drink wine or soft drinks. I’m sorry." James couldn’t refute.

"How about you?" He turned his gaze to Yvonne.

Yvonne said, "You just said congratulations, but I don’t want to congratulate you." She was straightforward to his face. The atmosphere was awkward.

James didn’t care, and just said, "Well, just enjoy yourselves." With that, he drank all the wine in the glass and showed his empty glass to everyone. During dinner, Christopher took good care of Janice. Daniel also ate very casually, and occasionally

had a drink with James. But Yvonne didn’t eat anything. James saw it, and when everyone was not paying attention, he leaned in and said in a low voice, "Why don’t you eat? You don’t like it?"

Hearing him say this, Yvonne looked over, "Do you think I can have an appetite tonight?" James naturally knew what he was referring to, and smiled, "This is a beautiful day. Why are you thinking so much? Don’t waste the good food and wine." Yvonne admired how thick-skinned James could be. She was so rude to his face tonight, and he was not angry at all.

...

She said, "I don’t know if I’ve wasted it. I only know I don’t like the food tonight." With that, she got up and said to them "You guys, enjoy your dinner. I’m leaving now." She walked towards the door. James hurried out after seeing this, and before he could speak, Yvonne’s phone rang. She picked it up.

He didn’t know what was said on the other end of the phone. Yvonne said, "I’ll go over immediately." She hurried back to her house. Before long, she came out with the car keys. Seeing her going out, James quickly stepped forward and asked, "It’s so late, where are you going?"

"It’s none of your business."

She went to the elevator and pressed the button. James watched the elevator go down, and felt uneasy. He quickly returned to take his car keys. "Enjoy your dinner. I’ll go out." Before leaving, he explained.

After he left, Janice said, "Honey, let’s go back. The food here is too greasy, and I don’t like it."

"Okay, let’s go home."

Christopher helped her up, "how about you?" He turned to ask Daniel. Daniel shrugged, "You are all leaving. What’s the point of me staying here alone?" He got up, took his coat, and followed out. On the way back, Janice was leaning on the car window and looking at the barbecue on the street. Her mouth was watering. Since the last time she was hospitalized for crabs, Christopher had become stricter with her diet, especially barbecues. Christopher didn’t even allow her to touch it. She was craving it, especially when she waited at the traffic light. The smell of barbecue floated into the car, and she was drooling.

No, she had to eat it tonight anyway. Thinking of this, she turned to look at Christopher in the driver’s seat, "Honey, I want to have a barbecue."

Christopher was paying attention to the traffic ahead. When he heard her say this, he turned his head and looked over, and found her staring at the barbecue restaurant outside the window and biting her lips. It looked like she was eager to eat it. He frowned, "Honey, didn’t we agree that you wouldn’t touch those unhealthy foods during your pregnancy? Did you forget?"

Janice said, "I didn’t forget, but the baby wants to eat it. See, he kicked me when he smelled the barbecue." She looked at her belly and said. Christopher was a little speechless. It was a lousy excuse.

"Just a skewer of barbecue, okay? Please." Janice bit her lips.

Christopher looked at her and couldn’t bear it. Thinking that she hadn’t eaten anything just now, he paused and said, "I can take you to eat it, but you have to promise me that you won’t overdo it."

Upon hearing this, Janice nodded happily, "Of course."

Before long, the car stopped outside a barbecue restaurant on the side of the road. Christopher helped Janice in. "Sir, give me fifty..." She just wanted to say fifty

skewers when she met Christopher’s gaze, and she hesitated, "Five skewers please."

Seeing her pitifully put down her other hand, he frowned and said, "Sir, twenty skewers, and please make sure the ingredients are fresh."

The restaurant owner nodded and turned to leave. Janice looked at Christopher, "Thank you, honey" Christopher complained, "Well, I didn’t find you like to eat these things before. You’ve become greedier since you got pregnant."

Janice smiled awkwardly. She didn’t know what was going on. She didn’t like this food before, but since she was pregnant, she had wanted to eat it more. "Maybe it’s true that the baby wants to eat it," Janice said. Christopher smiled helplessly when she used the baby as an excuse again. At the same time, James followed Yvonne’s car until he reached Durotte Square.
