Sam was stunned by James’ words. Did she live across the hall? Wasn’t it Yvonne? She remembered that Yvonne had indeed moved in not long ago. "But the last time I asked you if you knew her in the restaurant, why did you say you did not know her?" Sam asked in confusion.

James frowned, "Well... we just broke up. I lied because I was still angry." Sam was a little dubious. "Is it true? Can you prove it?" James wondered how could he prove it? Why was she so troublesome?

He thought for a while and then opened his photo album, found the secret photos taken when he was volunteering in the neighboring town, and showed them to her. "This should be able to prove the relationship between the two of us." Sam looked through the photos and saw that they were all photos of Yvonne working outdoors in her white coat and her everyday life in casual clothes, and even photos of falling asleep in pajamas. Many of them were close-up shots.

It seemed that he was not lying. Sam gave his phone back, "Does she know?" James put away the phone, "She doesn’t know yet, so I still need you to help me keep it secret. I regret it. I want to get her back, and it’s my only chance."

Sam saw that he was sincere, so she agreed, "Well, I will move to the place you’ve provided, but I will not live there for free. I will pay the rent."

"Whatever you want, but you don’t need to pay the rent," James said.

Sam said, "No, thanks. Your house is better. It’s a deal." Seeing her insistence, James did not force it, "Okay, I’ll send someone over to help you move." In the evening, when Yvonne came back from work, Sam waited at her door especially.

"Oh, Yvonne, you’re back."

Yvonne was surprised when she saw Sam, "Sam? Are you waiting for me especially? Come in."

She opened the door. Sam didn’t go in, but stood at the door and said, "No, I’ll just say a few words and leave."

Yvonne didn’t force it.

Sam paused before saying, "I’m going to move away." Yvonne noticed that there was a suitcase next to her, and couldn’t help being surprised, "Move away? Where do you move to?"

Sam said, "Somewhere near my workplace. It’s more convenient." Yvonne breathed a sigh of relief after hearing this. She said to herself: she was glad Sam was still in Tomaville. "Then I will help you move."

Sam said, "No, thanks. Most of the things have been moved, and I can manage the suitcase."

"I see, but why are you moving so suddenly? I didn’t hear you mention it last night." Yvonne said. Sam thought of James asking her to keep it secret, so she didn’t say much, "It’s a temporary decision. Take care."

"You too, keep in touch."

"Okay."

The two waved goodbye. Yvonne watched Sam enter the elevator with her suitcase. She couldn’t help sighing. When she had finally got along with Sam, she moved away. However, fortunately, she did not leave Tomaville, and there would be a chance to meet each other in the future. Thinking of this, she turned around and returned to her residence. Since Sam moved away that day, Yvonne noticed that there had been workers coming in and out on the opposite side. Once she happened to pass by the door and glanced inside and found that the layout inside had changed.

....

She guessed that her future neighbor should be a person with high demands on the quality of life, but this had nothing to do with her. She had been very busy these days. She went to the laboratory during the day and often received calls from Stanley at night, and every time he got drunk. Yvonne felt sorry for him. She thought that this was not the way to go. So one day when she returned home at night, she took out her bank card, only to find that there were only hundreds of thousands of dollars deposit in it. Even with her income of financial management, she had only more than one million dollars.

It was far from ten million. She was instantly powerless. It would be great if she had money. She was helpless when the doorbell rang. Yvonne put down the bank card, got up, and walked over to open the door. What caught her eyes was a small square box. She was puzzled. The box was slowly moved away, revealing a familiar face. James? Yvonne was surprised, "How do you know I live here?"

James looked innocent, "I don’t know. I’m here to send a gift to my new neighbor. It turns out that my neighbor is you, so please take it." Yvonne suddenly understood what was going on, "You mean you’re my new neighbor across the hall?" James nodded.

Yvonne was stunned. What a coincidence! How could James be her new neighbor? James saw her reaction and said, "Tomorrow night, I’m throwing a housewarming party. You can come if you like." Yvonne came to her senses, "I’m sorry, I don’t have time." With that, she was about to close the door. James quickly stopped, "We will be neighbors in the future after all. Neighbors should look out for each other."

"Neighbors?" Yvonne sneered, "Forget it, I don’t have time." She closed the door relentlessly. James was rejected, but he wasn’t upset. She would get used to it. He took the gift back. When he glanced at the newly renovated place, he was in a good mood.

He put down the gift and called Christopher, "Tomorrow night, I will throw a dinner party at home. Come over with your wife." Christopher said, "She is a pregnant woman and is not suitable for dinner parties."

"It’s not the kind of dinner you think. It’s just a dinner for friends. Remember to bring your wife, and I will send you the address later." Christopher was about to say something when the phone was hung up. He certainly knew James’s address. As soon as he was about to put down his phone, it rang. He clicked it and saw that it was the address sent by James. But when he saw the address, he was stunned. Wasn’t the Riverside Apartment? When did James move there?

"Honey, come help me." Christopher was thinking when he heard Janice’s voice. He put down his phone and walked over. "Honey, help me button up the back of my dress. I can’t reach it." Janice was standing in front of the bathroom mirror with her big belly. The mirror was blurred because she had just finished taking a shower. She couldn’t see the back of her dress. He helped her button it up quickly.

Janice finally let out a sigh of relief. Her body getting more and more cumbersome, and now she couldn’t even button up her dress. Suddenly Christopher hugged her from behind. She was startled, and then asked, "Honey, who did you take to just now."

Christopher rested his chin on her shoulder, kissed her slender neck, and said, "James called."
