Chapter 305: Have You Found I Am Very Handsome?
"No, thanks."
When Yvonne saw James, she wanted to close the door subconsciously, but James stopped her and said, "Let’s go! Let’s normal for neighbors to have dinner together." Before Yvonne agreed, he pulled her into his apartment. As soon as Yvonne was dragged inside abruptly, she smelled the scent of hot pot. She hadn’t eaten hot pot for a while, so she missed it.
"Let go of me."
She broke away from his grip.
James didn’t try to grasp her hand again but said, "I have prepared everything. Let’s go." Yvonne followed him into the dining room, glanced at the substantial food on the table, and couldn’t help swallowing her saliva secretly. James handed her a bow and said, "I prepared the clear broth especially for you." But Yvonne said, "I can eat spicy food."
"Of course, you can eat spicy food, but don’t all of you doctors prefer a light diet?" James said.
Yvonne frowned, "You have a prejudice against doctors." James smiled, "Then let me know more about your profession tonight." Yvonne didn’t respond but sat down silently. James was busy putting food inside the pot. Every time before he put something in, he asked for Yvonne’s opinion. And he would not put it in until she nodded. "Do you eat tripes?" James asked, pointing to a dish in front. Yvonne said, "It’s OK for me."
James smiled and then put the tripes into the pot. He hadn’t expected Yvonne to be such a hardcore person. The hot pot boiled after a while, and James deliberately placed a bowl of tripes in front of Yvonne. Yvonne looked at the bowl and said sincerely, "Thank you." "What would you like to drink?" James asked. Yvonne, "Water, please."
James nodded and got a bottle of water over. When Yvonne reached out to take it, James took the water back, saying, "Wait a minute." When Yvonne was in confusion, he slowly unscrewed the cap of the bottle and then handed the water to her again. Yvonne took the bottle, looked at the unscrewed cap, and couldn’t help but feel well-disposed toward him. She had to admit that James was very good at taking care of others. Whenever she was with him, he had always been considerate.
He not only helped her with the small things such as opening the bottle but also solved the big problems for her. Sometimes, Yvonne even felt his behaviors were a little contradictory. He had both a ruffian temperament and a gentleman’s demeanor. Yvonne didn’t even understand how one person could have two contradictory characteristics at the same time. "What’s wrong? Why are you looking at me? Have you finally found that I am handsome?"
James’ words instantly brought Yvonne back to her senses. She couldn’t help but roll her eyes at him. If he could get rid of his flippant attitude, he was still a very good person, and she could at least make friends with him. Of course, the premise was
that he didn’t have that kind of feeling for herself. Thinking of this, she hesitated for a while and said, "James, seriously, can’t we just be good friends?"
Hearing her words, James paused his movement, then put the chopsticks down, picked up the wine decanter, poured a glass of wine for himself, looked at her, and said, "It’s OK, but you have to get rid of your prejudice against me."
Yvonne was startled and said, "I have no prejudice against you..." She was a little uncertain. James sneered, "Are you sure? But I think you have been prejudiced against me since our blind date."
...
Yvonne didn’t speak, and James continued, "I admitted that my attitude was bad back then, and I shouldn’t have been so arrogant after being late."
Hearing his self-criticism, Yvonne felt a little ashamed. On the blind date, her behavior had also been a bit improper. She hesitated for a while and said, "I also make a mistake that day. I shouldn’t have argued a point to death. Since both of us have apologized today, from now on, neither of us will mention it anymore. Do you agree?"
"Of course, I agree but..." James said thoughtfully.
"But what?" Yvonne asked.
James frowned, leaned forward, and said, "I think, apart from the blind date, you still have prejudices against me."
Upon hearing this, Yvonne frowned, "Do I? I don’t think so."
James said, "Of course, you don’t think so. But every time you look at me, that look in your eyes..."
Mentioning this, James could not help but frown tightly. Yvonne couldn’t bear to be kept in suspense, so she asked, "What’s wrong with the look in my eyes?"
James leaned on the back of the chair and folded his hands over his chest, and a trace of cunning crossed his eyes. "Let me put it this way, every time you see me, it feels like you want to turn around to run away immediately."
Yvonne was startled by his words, wondering whether it was true. Why hadn’t she noticed it at all?
"Do you always scold me in your heart? Have you used terrible words to swear at me?" James suddenly squinted his eyes and glance at her with a serious look.
Yvonne felt ill at ease after being stared at. She said, "No! Don’t wrongly blame me."
Yvonne was eager to defend herself, and James’s eagle- like eyes flashed with a ray of quirky light. He didn’t look away from her face until a long time later and then chuckled, "I was just testing you." Yvonne glanced at him speechlessly and said, "Silly." She looked away but then felt it funny. After all, she had no reason to have a guilty conscience.
James couldn’t help but chuckle, then picked up the wine glass, and said, "Then we’ve made a deal today. We will abandon prejudices and become close and friendly neighbors."
He raised his glass.
Yvonne also slowly picked up the bottle of water and clinked it with his glass. She felt something was wrong but couldn’t tell what it was. Then the two of them ate while chatting, and the dinner didn’t end until ten o’clock. Yvonne stroked her slightly swollen belly and thought it was the most light-hearted hot pot she had ever eaten. She had always worried about gaining weight before. But tonight, she had
eaten a lot without knowing it. "Thanks for the hot pot tonight." She glanced at the time and found it was late, so she quickly got up and said "I must go back to sleep now."
She turned around to leave. "Wait!" James said. Yvonne looked back in a puzzle. "Are you leaving like this?"
James stared at her meaningfully. Yvonne was a little confused, and she said to herself, "Why can’t I leave like this? Do I have to pay?"
She said, "Didn’t you invite me over because you don’t want to have dinner alone?"
James replied, "Yes, it is me that invited you, but don’t you think you should do something?"
While speaking, he jerked his chin at the table suggestively. Yvonne understood what he meant. She asked, "Do you want me to clean up the table?"
James nodded, "To be precise, I want you to clean up the table and wash the dishes."
...
Yvonne was startled and gritted her teeth secretly. She thought he was an unblushing man. However, the venue and the food tonight had all been provided by him, he seemed fully justified in asking her to wash the dishes. At the thought of this, she nodded, "Okay, I will do it."
Therefore, Yvonne went back to the dining room. She and James cleaned the table together and then stood by the sink. Only then did she realize that she was wearing her pink pajamas. She thought, "If the grease splashed on my pajamas, it would be difficult to wash it off. After all, the grease marks of the hot pot are very stubborn."
James seemed to read her mind, so he said, "Wait a minute." Then he took the apron from the wall and walked over, saying, "Put this on."
Yvonne glanced at the apron he was holding and paused for a while before reaching out to take it. She asked, "Do you think I can wear it?"
She checked the apron and found it looked like a robe, so she said, "This is too big."
James frowned, then took the apron over, and said, "Stand still." As soon as he finished speaking, he put the apron on Yvonne. But instead of the normal way, he wrapped it around her and perfectly covered the place that was prone to be splashed on. "Is it OK now?" James said.
Glancing at the apron wrapped around her, Yvonne couldn’t help but laugh, "This is funny. I feel like a sack."
James frowned, "I didn’t ask you to wear it to walk at the catwalk."
Yvonne pursed her lips and sneered, "I see, I am your dishwasher now." With that, she turned around, turned the faucet on, and began to wash the dishes. James stood behind and stared at her, smiling in a good mood.
He thought, "You’re a fake dishwasher today, but will be a real hostess tomorrow."
So, he must let her do the hard work tonight. Thinking of this, he suppressed the urge to step forward to help, turned around, and went to the living room. After Yvonne put all the clean dishes into the disinfection cabinet, she took off the apron and said, "I’m done! Can I go home now?"
James was enjoying his red wine on the sofa now. Hearing her words, he waved his hand and said, "You can go."
Seeing that he didn’t even bother to give a look at her or get up to send her off, Yvonne couldn’t help complain in her heart, " This man is fickle."
He had just agreed to be mere friend with her, and he had become so indifferent now. He used to be very passionate about herself before. However, this was good. At least, she would not be so burdened anymore. Thinking of this, she couldn’t help but feel much relaxed. Then she turned around and walked outside his apartment.
Since they had had dinner together, the relationship between Yvonne and James had
become much more friendly. The two often had meals together. But most of the time, they had meals in James’s apartment. After the meal, he would always ask her to do the cleaning, not looking like a gentleman at all. Yvonne endured it, but she swore that one day she was going to ruthlessly make him repay.
So, this weekend, Yvonne made a special trip to the supermarket early in the morning, intending to buy some ingredients. After all, she could not eat free meals all the time, and she had to reciprocate. In addition to eating yummy food, she also wanted to take the opportunity to "retaliate" against James who was in the habit of ordering her about now. She wanted him to experience the feeling of being told to do things like a slave.
