Chapter 289: May I Have A Cup Of Coffee At Your House?
Yvonne knew this. She had drummed up sponsorship for the laboratory with her professor when she was still in medical school. She had seen how difficult it was at the time. It was difficult for an accomplished academician like her professor, not to mention those fewer known ones. Naturally, it was much more difficult. "What about the hospital? Doesn’t the hospital have special funds? Have you applied for it with the hospital?"
Stanley said, "This is my research project and has nothing to do with the hospital."
Hearing this, Yvonne nodded knowingly but was unavoidably worried. Stanley smiled and comforted her, "It’s okay. Don’t worry, things will work out and there will be a way."
Hearing this, Yvonne did not continue. Soon the car stopped in front of the Riverside Apartment. "Here you are," Stanley said.
Yvonne came to her senses, glanced out of the car window, and then unfastened her seat belt, "Thank you for taking me back." Stanley nodded.
Yvonne got out of the car and waved to Stanley, "Be careful on your way." Stanley nodded, then turned the steering wheel and drove the car away. Yvonne stood there and waited until the car disappeared, then looked away. She caught a glimpse of a car parked not far away. She didn’t care much, turned, and walked towards the apartment. As soon as she left, the car parked in the dark slowly drove over and stopped at that position.
James sat in the car and watched her walked in. Until she disappeared, he glanced at the gate subconsciously, and then suddenly remembered that he had been here more than once. After taking Christopher’s tips, he had come to look for her a few times but never met her. It turned out that she lived here. "Mr. Taylor?" Sam couldn’t help calling him when she saw that he had been looking out the window without speaking.
James came to his sense, "Oh, here you are." Sam nodded, and while unfastening her seat belt, she couldn’t help but wonder how he had found it without telling him her address. But she thought that her boss probably had told him, so she didn’t continue thinking about it.
She got out of the car, and said to James, "Thank you, Mr. Taylor, for taking me back. Drive carefully on the road." With that, she waved her hand at James and stepped aside. However, James didn’t immediately drive away but followed her out of the car. "May I have a cup of coffee at your house?"
Sam was startled. She hadn’t expected James to make such a request suddenly, and she was a little hesitant for a while. After all, she was not familiar with James, and they had just met a few times. Wouldn’t it be misleading to take him home rashly like this? Besides, she had no habit of inviting strange men to her house. "Mr. Taylor...well...I’m afraid it’s a little inconvenient." Sam said.
James said, "Nothing inconvenient. Let’s go, I will only take you to the door." Before Sam agreed, he walked towards the gate of the community first. Sam froze and
hurried to follow.
At the gate of the community, James had wanted to go in with Sam, but when the security saw him, he just let him go in. After he entered, he couldn’t help but complain, "The security of your community is so unprofessional. How could they allow strangers to come and go so freely?"
....
Sam smiled, "Mr. Taylor, the community is safe, but your face is your passport." James was puzzled. Sam pointed to an LED display on the outer building nearby and said, "The interviews of the Taylor Group have been broadcast all the time." Hearing that, James looked over and found that the screen was facing the direction of the security room. The security guard had probably watched the news every day.
No wonder the security guard let him go in as soon as he saw him. It turned out that he had already recognized him. It seemed that there was no difference between his looks in front of the camera and reality. Thinking of this, he couldn’t help but chuckle and continued walking until he got into the elevator before he asked Sam, "Which floor do you live on?"
Sam said, "Floor 17th."
James nodded and pressed the floor button. It didn’t take long for the elevator to stop on the 17th floor. "Mr. Taylor, I’ve arrived," Sam reminded.
James nodded and walked out of the elevator. He stood on the corridor and looked around, and found that it was a structure of two houses with one elevator. In other words, apart from Sam’s house, Yvonne was living in the other. "Mr. Taylor, my house is here."
As he was thinking, Sam pointed to the house on the left. James realized that the house opposite was where Yvonne lived. He thought silently in his heart. "Mr. Taylor, would you like to go in for a cup of coffee?"
Sam saw that he had arrived at her door, and felt obliged to invite him in. But James said, "No, thanks. Since you have safely arrived home, I will go back."
Hearing this, Sam breathed a sigh of relief, "Well, Mr. Taylor, drive carefully." James nodded, turned, and walked into the elevator, but glanced at Yvonne’s residence subconsciously out the corner of his eye. With a subtle smile on his face, he stepped into the elevator. Sam was relieved until the elevator door closed. She turned around and was about to open the door when the door of the house across the hall suddenly opened. "Excuse me, may I borrow your bathroom?"
Sam heard the sound and looked back. Yvonne behind her was wrapped in a loose bathrobe. Her hair was wet with white bubbles. At a glance, she knew what happened. She froze and was about to speak when Yvonne explained, "Well, I was in the middle of washing my hair when the power went out. Is it convenient for you?" Yvonne was embarrassed.
Sam glanced behind her subconsciously and found it was dark, and said, "Of course. Please come in." Yvonne said, "Thank you."
Sam went into the room and gave her a pair of slippers, and said, "Take a bath. I’ll talk to the management and ask them to come over and see what’s going on." Yvonne felt grateful, "Thank you."
Sam turned around and took out her cell phone and walked to the balcony to call the management. Yvonne then headed towards the bathroom. The layout of Sam’s
house was different from hers, and the bathroom was much smaller. After Yvonne hastily took a bath, Sam stepped forward and said, "They can only send someone to fix it tomorrow. You can live with me if you don’t mind."
Yvonne was a little embarrassed, "Well... thank you very much." Sam said, "You’re welcome. I’m usually alone. Only my brother comes over occasionally, but he has been busy recently."
