Chapter 290: Could It Be Janice?
At Sam’s proposal, Yvonne was a little hesitant. It was indeed inconvenient for her to spend the night in darkness, and she was also a little afraid of the dark. However, if she lived with Sam, she felt embarrassed. After all, she wasn’t familiar with Sam, and at best she was just a neighbor. After thinking about it, she still declined it, "Thank you for your kindness. I think I’d better go back to sleep. I can put up with it."
Sam didn’t force it and gave her an emergency night light before she left. Yvonne took the night light back to her residence. She put the night light on the bedside table in her bedroom. The faint light made her feel less scared. She lay on the bed slowly, stared at the ceiling, but couldn’t fall asleep for a long time. She took out her mobile phone and posted about her situation. He threw the phone aside and closed her eyes.
Before long, her phone rang and it was Janice, "Yvette, why don’t you go to the hotel for one night? I just called the building management and they said that they could only send someone to fix it tomorrow." Yvonne said, "No, I’ll make do with one night. It’s getting late. Go to bed."
"Then remember to call me if you need anything."
"Okay."
Yvonne put the phone away, and it didn’t take long before the doorbell rang. She wondered who it would it at this late hour. She got out of bed and walked over to open the door with the night light. A middle-aged man in overalls was standing outside the door. "Who are you?"
"Is it Miss White? I’m an electric repairman and I’m here to repair the fault." Yvonne was startled. Hadn’t they said they could only come to fix it tomorrow? "Come in then." She stepped aside.
The maintenance worker walked in carrying the toolbox. The cause of the failure was quickly found, "The line is short-circuited. I’ll just change it." "Thanks." Yvonne nodded.
It didn’t take long for it to be repaired, and the room instantly regained its brightness. Yvonne was very grateful. She thought to herself that the building management was pretty professional and she should thank them with a gift tomorrow. Yvonne went back to her bedroom. She slept well and didn’t wake up till dawn. The next day was the weekend. There was no need to go to the laboratory. Yvonne wanted to sleep in, but the doorbell rang early in the morning. She was helpless. It was early in the morning on the weekend. Who was it? She got up to open the door.
Two people were standing outside the door. One was the building manager, whom she had met, and the other was wearing a uniform and carrying a toolbox. Yvonne was puzzled, "what is this?"
The building manager said, "Well, there was a power failure in your house last night. We specially asked an electrician to come over to repair it this morning. Is it convenient for you?" Yvonne was sleepy at first and was stunned when she heard what he said. "Didn’t you send someone to fix it last night?"
The building manager was obviously surprised, "No."
Yvonne was confused now. Who had sent the man to repair it last night? Could it be Janice? After much deliberation, she thought it could only be Janice. After she sent the building management away, she hurriedly called Janice. Janice was sitting in the lounge of the childcare center before class, and Christopher was sitting next to her and preparing for the class.
The phone rang suddenly. She glanced at it and it was Yvonne, and she quickly picked it up. "Hey, Yvonne."
"Janice, did you send the electrician over for repairmen last night? Thank you." Yvonne said.
...
Janice was at a loss, "No, I called the building management last night and they said that they could only send someone over today." Yvonne was surprised when she heard what Janice said over the phone. It was not Janice, and then who would it be? So she told Janice about the maintenance worker’s visit last night. Janice was also confused when she heard that, "Could it be that someone on the management side resolved it in time and didn’t hand over it properly."
Yvonne thought it was possible. After hanging up the phone, Christopher saw her frowning and asked, "What’s wrong?" Janice then told him what had happened to Yvonne.
"Honey, could it be that someone deliberately sabotaged it and then came to the door disguised as a maintenance worker? He was a perverted serial killer who went to confirm the information. I didn’t even dare to tell Yvonne that just now." Janice looked nervous.
Christopher just thought that she was thinking too much, "You think too much. Even if someone went to confirm the confirmation, he can’t use this method. It’s too inefficient."
"But how do you explain it? You see, when we lived there for so long, there was no short circuit. Besides, someone came to repair it in the middle of the night. Don’t you think it is suspicious?"
When Christopher saw her making it more mysterious, he said helplessly, "If you’re worried, I will ask Rob to go over and take a look." Janice nodded, "That would be the best."
At this time, the class teacher walked in. Since it was a separate course for the expectant mother today, it didn’t need the company of Christopher, so Janice said to Christopher, "Honey, you can go to the company and pick me up later. If you have no time, I can take a taxi home."
Christopher handed her the things for class and said, "Don’t worry. I will pick you up on time." The class teacher had already gone in, and Janice didn’t say anything more and went in with the small bag for class. Christopher stood there, watching her sway into the classroom like a penguin, and couldn’t help but chuckle. She looked more and more like a schoolgirl now. He glanced at his watch. Janice’s class would take 30 minutes. He could go to the company to fetch a document and come back in 20 minutes. Apart from the traffic jam, it should be almost enough.
Thinking about this, he turned around and walked hurriedly towards the door. As soon as he got into the car, his phone rang. He glanced at it and it was James. He answered it with a frown, "What’s going on?" He drove the car away.
On the other end of the phone, James was running on the treadmill, "Chris, you are so unreliable. It’s your own house, but you haven’t told me the address." Christopher was confused, "What house?"
James said, "You’re still lying to me. Isn’t the house where Yvonne lives now your family’s property?" Last night, he had checked it after he returned home, and the house was registered in Janice’s name.
Christopher realized what he was talking about, but sneered, "That’s not my house. It’s my wife’s private property."
"Isn’t your wife’s yours?"
James was speechless. Christopher was finding fault with his choice of words at this time. Christopher said, "Of course it’s not mine. I have already transferred the house to her name. It has nothing to do with me." James was speechless and slowed down, "I don’t care whether it’s yours or your wife’s. In short, the house is not good at all, and the community is not safe."
