Chapter 299: One Day She Would Get Used To It
Yvonne was startled, and said, "Stanley is not that kind of person." "I am a man, and I know he’s thinking." James snorted coldly.
Yvonne disagreed, and murmured, "You are just talking about yourself." But James heard her clearly and said, "Then tell me, have I ever done anything to you?" He suddenly leaned in.
Yvonne was surprised, and her hands holding the steering wheel shook slightly. "You... sit down."
James didn’t.
"Last time we lived in the same room, but I didn’t do anything to you. What can you worry about?" He leaned too close, and his warm breath sprayed on her cheeks, and Yvonne was a little uncomfortable, "You... you sit down first."
James stared at her red lips that were close at hand, resisting the urge to kiss on them, and then slowly sat up straight. After that, no one said anything until the car was parked in the parking lot of Riverside Apartment. James opened the car door and walked to the building. Yvonne was one step behind and followed him. The two entered the elevator one after another.
Yvonne saw that James didn’t mean to press the floor button, so she stepped past him and pressed the floor button. When she retreated, she inadvertently touched his shoulder. She was taken aback and quickly retreated to the side. There were only two of them in the elevator from beginning to end. She didn’t know if it was her illusion. She somehow had a feeling that they were going home together. It felt too ambiguous, and she unconsciously stood a little further away. James saw her actions, and he secretly snorted. One day she would get used to it. Before long, the elevator opened.
James went out first, and Yvonne followed behind. When he got to the door, James stopped specifically. Yvonne hesitated when she saw it, and said, "I’m going back. Thank you."
She turned and was about to open the door. "Wait." James stopped her, "I saw you ate nothing just now. Are you hungry?"
Along the way, he didn’t seem very happy. When he suddenly spoke so softly, Yvonne was startled, and then said, "I’m not hungry." But as soon as she said it, her stomach growled. She was embarrassed.
James sneered, "Follow me."
He turned around and opened the door of his house. Seeing that she hadn’t moved, he frowned, "Don’t worry. I won’t do anything to you." Yvonne walked over. After entering the house, James put the car key on the table and said, "Have a seat. It’ll be ready soon."
He rolled up his sleeves and walked towards the kitchen. Yvonne entered the house and then looked around. Although she didn’t like being pestered by James, she still agreed with his taste. This house had been renovated to another level by him. She followed him into the kitchen and saw him busy in front of the stove in an apron. She
was a little surprised. What was he doing?
She was puzzled when he took a bag of something out of the refrigerator. Was he going to cook? But thinking about it, she thought it was impossible. How could James cook? It was impossible. Thinking about it this way, she didn’t think about it anymore and turned back to the living room.
Before long, James brought a plate of spaghetti out of the kitchen and placed it on the table in front of her, "Eat it."
Yvonne looked at the spaghetti and was surprised, "Did you cook it?" She found it a little unbelievable.
...
James nodded. Seeing that she didn’t eat it for a while, he said, "Don’t worry. I know you are on a diet. It’s very healthy." Hearing that, Yvonne picked up the fork, but she still couldn’t believe it. James could cook, and it looked not bad. She just didn’t know if it was cooked or not. With such doubts, she tasted and paused.
"How about it?" James asked.
Yvonne chewed it for a while before saying, "Not bad."
Her answer didn’t surprise James. He got up and walked to the wine cabinet, poured a glass of red wine, and sat across from her. Yvonne lowered her head and ate the spaghetti quietly. Thinking of something, she asked, "Did you ask Sam to move out?"
James did not deny it, "We all get what we need."
As expected, Yvonne knew it was not a coincidence. She paused, put down her fork, and said, "James, no matter why you moved here, my answer is the same. It is not happening for the two of us."
She looked at James. No matter how many times she had said this, she was serious. James casually shook the wine glass in his hand, "We’re just neighbors. Don’t think too much." He looked calm.
Yvonne was embarrassed instead as if she was making things up. She didn’t say anything. She picked up the fork and lowered her head to eat the spaghetti to hide her embarrassment. "Thank you for the supper. I’m going back." After eating the spaghetti, Yvonne stood up and said.
James nodded but was still sitting there, with no intention of getting up to see her off. Yvonne then walked towards the door, but remembering something, she stopped and turned around, "Anyway, congratulations on the housewarming."
With that, she went out. After she left, James gave a faint smile and drank the wine in his glass in a good mood. This night, Yvonne didn’t sleep very well. James was living across the hall, and she somehow felt uneasy. As a result, she unsurprisingly missed the wake -up alarm clock the next day. She was woken by the doorbell. She rubbed her eyes and opened the door. When she saw James standing outside the door, she was instantly awake.
Realizing that she was still wearing pajamas, she was about to turn around and change clothes when James said, "It’s a pity I made an extra breakfast. I don’t want to throw it away. How about you share it?"
Before she could respond, he hung the breakfast on the doorknob, turned around, and went back to his house. Yvonne was left standing there, and it took a long time for her to come to her sense, but she wasn’t happy. The first person she saw when she opened her eyes early in the morning was James, which was not a pleasant thing.
She took the breakfast back, took a look at the time, and then washed quickly, and went out after having breakfast. But James was waiting outside the door in a neat suit, "My car was towed away last night. Could you give me a ride?"
He was not in an inquiry tone. Yvonne was surprised at first, but when she thought that his car had been towed away last night when he tried to help her, she agreed. The two went downstairs together and got in the car together. On the way, James started the conversation, "Are you still working in the hospital recently?"
Yvonne was driving the car. When she heard his question, she replied, "I’m not there anymore."
"Because of the incident?" James asked.
Yvonne paused, "Not exactly."
"I did not mean it." James looked out the window, and his tone was very calm this time.
Yvonne was a little surprised. Although he had apologized and admitted his mistake before, he was not as sincere as he was now. She said, "I know. I didn’t blame you."
"Then why did you go there suddenly?" James asked. Yvonne was surprised, only to realize something, "Did you investigate me?"
