Chapter 341: Who Asked Him To Send It Over?
Janice was slightly surprised.
Janice sensibly chose not to ask any further questions.
The two chatted for a while before ending the video call.
Yvonne turned to look out of the window. It was only then that she realized that winter had quietly arrived.
At the thought of this, she felt very frustrated.
While she was thinking, the doorbell rang.
She stood up and opened the door. A delivery man in a work uniform was standing outside the door. When he saw her open the door, he handed over the things in his hand.
"This is your takeaway."
However, she stared at the takeout in his hand and was slightly surprised. She did not order anything. "Did you send it to the wrong place?"
The delivery guy looked up at the house number.
"Are you Miss White?"
Yvonne nodded.
"That’s right. I’ll send you takeout on time in the future."
The delivery guy placed the things in her hands and left.
Yvonne could only carry the takeaway into the house.
She took it into the kitchen and put it on the table to open it. She found that it was quite sumptuous inside. Most of it was her favorite food.
Yvonne also recalled the breakfast hung on the doorknob when she opened the door in the morning. "It seems to be the same person."
When she thought up to here, she wasn’t willing to continue thinking about it.
In the office, James looked at the time.
Just as he was about to take out his phone to check, his phone rang.
"Mr. Taylor, the takeout you ordered has arrived."
Hearing the announcement from the takeaway platform, he finally felt relieved.
He put down the phone and put back the document in front of him.
Just as he was about to leave with his coat, his phone rang again. He picked it up and glanced at it. It was an unfamiliar number. He picked it up with a frown.
"Mr. Taylor, this is Grace White."
Janice knew her.
He asked, "What’s the matter, Ms. White?"
When Grace heard this distant "Ms. White", she sneered, "Mr. Taylor, I’m afraid you’ll call me aunt soon. Are you interested in coming out to talk?"
Grace was obviously implying something, so James coldly replied, "Okay."
He went to the location she gave him and found an elegant Chinese-styled teahouse.
The natural and flowing zither music caused his hurried footsteps to slow down involuntarily.
Grace White, who was sitting in her seat, saw him coming over and continued to gracefully play with the tea set.
James had seen her before at a dinner party, but at that time, he wanted to pay attention to her just because she was Yvonne’s aunt.
However, he later realized that her relationship with Yvonne was not very good, so he gave up the idea of contacting her.
James sat down opposite her. Seeing that she was just making tea calmly, he asked impatiently, "What do you want to talk about, Ms. White?"
....
Grace continued to fiddle with the tea set. When the tea was ready, she made a cup and put it in front of James. Then she said, "The tea was just brewed. Drink it while it’s hot. It won’t taste good when it’s cold."
She didn’t show her intention of talking business. Instead, she leisurely drank tea.
James was an impatient person and could not stand such pretentious behavior. If she were not Yvonne’s elder, he would definitely get up and leave immediately.
"Sorry, I don’t like drinking tea. Ms. White, let’s get down to business." James took out a cigarette and said, "You don’t mind, do you?" After that, he didn’t wait for her reply and picked one.
Grace was sensitive to smoke. She choked a few times and could no longer continue gracefully.
She complained in her heart, "I didn’t expect him to be such a rude and vulgar person."
She’d wanted to put on airs as an elder, but it seemed that wouldn’t work.
A hint of displeasure flashed across her eyes, and she said straightforwardly, "Our family already knows about what happened between you and Yvonne. How do you want to deal with it?"
Seeing that she was finally willing to talk business, James put out the cigarette in his hand unhurriedly and said, "I don’t know what identity you have to talk to me about, Ms. White."
Grace was stunned.
Before she could open her mouth, James said, "Talking of the elder of the Whites, I think it should be your elder brother, Brant White, who is here."
The implication was that she was not qualified. Grace naturally recognized it. "You..."
Her expression wasn’t very good, but thinking of her purpose in coming here, she suppressed her anger and said, "My brother has already given me full control of this matter."
He said in a careless way, "Oh, really? How do you want to deal with it, Ms. White? Why don’t you tell me?"
Obviously, he didn’t care about Grace White.
Grace had heard of his arrogance before and could not help sneering in her heart.
thought that it’s too good for Yvonne to marry him. Now, it seems that even if she marries him, she wouldn’t get happiness.>
Then she felt much more at ease.
"Our family also has reputation in Tomaville. Although Yvonne’s conditions are not the best, she is still a member of our family. That matter is really an insult for us. Therefore, my brother and I agree that our two families should have the commercial marriage as soon as possible. In this way, we can take advantage of this marriage to bring our two families’ business to a higher level. On the other hand, it can also fulfill your wishes. Isn’t it killing two birds with one stone?" She said firmly, as if everything was under her control.
Hearing this, James laughed.
"My wish? Why even I don’t know?"
A trace of mockery flashed through her eyes. "Mr. Taylor, why ask when you already know the answer?"
James did not explain but asked with interest, "Also, I don’t quite understand why it’s a commercial marriage instead of a common marriage."
She smiled, "It’s not just a simple marriage. Our two families’ status is relatively special. There are a lot of benefits in between. I think you know about it."
...
Hearing her explanation, James sneered. He had heard that the White family was in a hurry to marry Yvonne off to have money to solve their company’s funds. At that time, he had not paid much attention to it, but after listening to her words, he finally understood.
He raised his eyebrows.
"So, do you think that this marriage is a matter of benefit?"
She said, "Is it important? As far as I know, you have been wooing Yvonne for some time. Isn’t this exactly what you want?"
"It’s true that I’m pursuing her, but I won’t get her involved with the business interests. If you just want the interests, forget it."
He did not want to continue. He got up and was about to leave.
"Mr. Taylor." Grace stopped him.
He stopped and looked back.
Grace got up, took a step forward, and whispered, "Do you know that if this matter is spread out, Yvonne’s innocence will be ruined? Who is willing to marry a woman who goes to a hotel room with a man casually?"
"You’re threatening me!" James narrowed his eyes.
Grace said, "This isn’t a threat, it’s a clear analysis of the pros and cons. Since you care so much about her, how could you bear to ruin her reputation?"
She looked determined.
James’s expression was already as cold as ice.
He warned, "If you dare to spread it, we’ll wait and see!"
His gaze was piercingly cold.
Grace was actually a little scared.
He stared at her face and suddenly asked, "I want to know how you know about this."
After the accident that day, he ordered the hotel staff to keep it a secret. No one was allowed to spread the news.
That was his own hotel, and he knew very well how strict the management was. No one dared not disobey the rules.
Hearing his question, she instantly felt a little guilty.
"This... Yvonne told me about it."
She quickly used Yvonne as an excuse.
"Is that so?"
James sneered in his heart. He knew very well that it was impossible for Yvonne to say it.
However, this reminded him of something. He had always felt that he and Yvonne were very strange that night.
Yvonne’s reaction was even stranger. Her reaction was not the normal reaction of someone who was drunk.>
He had suspected that someone had drugged the wine, but at that time, because of Yvonne’s words, he had no mood in investigating.
He then realized that this matter seemed to have something to do with Grace.
When he thought up to here, he said, "Since she told you, did she tell you that she had been drugged?"
As soon as he asked that, her face froze.
"She didn’t mention it."
"I’m afraid that it’s not that she didn’t mention it, but that she didn’t say anything at all."
Grace was so guilty that she didn’t dare to speak.
James squinted and asked, "Thus, where did you know that?"
"I..."
She felt speechless and her face turned pale.
The truth was no longer important to James, so he warned coldly, "Grace, I warn you not to scheme against her. Stay away from her."
After that, he turned around and walked to the door.
Grace stood there for a long time before she came to her senses, but her eyes were full of unwillingness.
