Sam didn’t react at all to what James said. She was not a person who cared much about material conditions. A bigger and nearer house was not very attractive to her. Therefore, no matter how good the conditions of the house provided by James were, it had nothing to do with her. Besides, she has liked living here, so why would she make room for him when he asked her to? So she refused mercilessly, "I’m sorry, Mr. Taylor, I can’t accept your proposal."

"Why?" James was puzzled.

In his opinion, the accommodation he provided was much better than the one where she lived now, and she had no reason not to accept it. Sam looked calm and indifferent, "No reason. For me, the house is comfortable to live in, and I’m used to living there, and I’m afraid I won’t be accustomed to moving to a strange place. Besides, Mr. Taylor, there are so many houses in the community, and I think, with the conditions you’ve offered, there must be many people who are willing to exchange it, and it doesn’t have to be my house."

"I don’t want any other house. I only want yours." James said directly.

Sam was a little puzzled, "Mr. Taylor, could you tell me why you want mine?" James frowned. "You don’t need to know that."

Sam smiled, "If that’s the case, then forget it, Mr. Taylor. Sorry, I have to leave." Sam said and stood up.

James hurriedly said, "Are you sure you don’t want to think about it?" Hearing this, Sam said, "Unless you give me a reason why I must move, otherwise..."

She curled her lips, turned, and walked away. James watched her leaving and felt very speechless. Why was she so stubborn? He was depressed. His phone on the table rang suddenly. It was Daniel, and he answered it, "What’s up?"

"Come to the club and have a drink with me," Daniel said. James, who had just been rejected by Sam, was feeling irritable. Hearing this, he sneered, "Wait, I’ll go over right away."

Before long, James’ car stopped at the door of the club. Sam was there when he went to the box. After being rejected by her, James was very unhappy to see her. Sam nodded at him indifferently, "Mr. Pattinson, I will go out first."

Daniel nodded and watched Sam go out. He asked James knowingly, "You came here so fast. Were you nearby?" James nodded, threw his car keys on the table, and said angrily, "What’s wrong with your assistant?"

Daniel was surprised, "You mean Sam? What happened?"

James got angry. He didn’t understand why she was so stubborn. It was just a place to live and she refused to move to a much better house. Thinking of it, he became angry, poured himself a glass of wine, and drank it. Daniel raised his eyebrows when he saw that James seemed angry, "You just invited her to dinner?"

James put his glass down heavily, "Yes, but we didn’t finish it." Daniel said to himself: how could it be possible to finish dinner in less than ten minutes after she

went out?

However, he didn’t reveal it, and said, "If I remember correctly, you have invited her to dinner for two consecutive days." "Why? I couldn’t invite your assistant to dinner?" James was annoyed and asked rhetorically.

...

Daniel said, "It’s not that you can’t invite her. It depends on why you want to invite her to dinner. If you just treat her as Rob’s sister, then forget what I said. But if you’re up to something else, you’d better stop it as soon as possible. She is not something you can mess with."

Hearing Daniel’s words, James was unhappy, "What are you talking about? I’m messing with her? No, Danny, what are you trying to say in a roundabout way?" James heard something wrong.

Seeing James o excited, Daniel patted him on the shoulder, "I mean, don’t try to hit on her." James only found it extremely absurd, "Danny, don’t you know me? I’m not a playboy."

Daniel frowned, "It’s hard to say. Maybe after you were rejected, you changed your mind."

"Nonsense! I’m a man of principled and I will never play around with girls. But you spend a lot of time in a place like this. You must have flirted with girls all the time." James refuted.

Daniel didn’t care, "Just mind your own business. I’m telling you, and you will be at your own risk if something goes wrong." With that, Daniel stood up. James was surprised when he was going out, "Aren’t you asking me to come over for a drink?"

Daniel stopped and looked back, "Have a drink yourself." He smiled evilly and turned and walked out. James sneered, and said to himself: did Daniel think he was attracted by Sam? But what did it have to do with him? He wasn’t interested in Sam. Thinking of Sam, James couldn’t help but frown. He believed he could convince her. Thinking of this, James took the car keys and left bitterly.

She was not going to work on weekends. Yvonne stayed at home for a whole day. Before going to bed, she was lying on the bed with a face mask and listening to music. It was very uncomfortable. At this moment, her phone rang suddenly, and she sat up slowly, found the phone, saw it was Stanley. She answered it with a little excitement. After all, Stanley hadn’t called her this late. "Stanley," Yvonne said.

"Yvonne, can you come to Durotte Square to pick me up?" It was so noisy, and Stanley’s voice could be heard vaguely. Yvonne was surprised. Stanley was asking her to pick him up? Could she have heard it wrong? When she was about to confirm it, he said, "I’m drunk."

Hearing this, Yvonne realized why he asked her to pick him up. Without any hesitation, she agreed, "Okay, I’ll go over immediately."

After hanging up the phone, she quickly removed the face mask, changed her clothes, and went out with the car keys. When she arrived at Durotte Square, Stanley was already waiting at the gate. He was leaning on the stone pillar at the gate with his eyes closed slightly. It seemed he was very drunk. Yvonne quickly opened the car door and walked over. As expected, she could smell wine all over the way. "Stanley, why did you drink so much?" Yvonne stepped forward to help him. Stanley opened his eyes slowly, "I had no choice. The project needs funding."

Yvonne paused, only then did she remember the funding problem of their laboratory that he had mentioned before. "Then did you get the investment?" She asked as she helped Stanley get into the car. Stanley murmured, "Businessmen just want money, and they simply looked down on our scientific research projects."

He laughed at himself. Stanley was so heavy that almost all of her weight was on her shoulders. When she finally helped him get into the car, she was out of breath.
