Former General Is Undead Knight

Lesson 29: The Rose of the Subworld ⑤

Simon switches up and down his body with his hands on the floor of the underground passage, stretching his legs and gently shaking them.

The two raiders, who were attacked from left to right, got kicked in the head, hit their backs on the wall, and stopped moving.

"It was brilliant this time, Simon. They often jump in knowing they're going to die. I know it's a strange sorcery... but it seems like a great sorcery to be able to force death while remaining conscious. Russia, my people are getting interested."

Cardinal Zebedai speaks so, but there was no response from Simon.

"Simon......?

Simon's small shoulder raised and lowered slightly.

"Me too, are you old...... I didn't expect you to be exhausted when dealing with your enemies."

"I can't help it, Master Simon. Since then, it has been a constant raid..."

My men are walking over to Simon.

Raids between movements in underground passages had become more and more frequent.

The first estimate said about forty, but Simmons and one line had already killed nearly a hundred enemies back.

There were dozens of groups all over the underground corridor, and the enemy was moving.

Exactly this scale was unexpected with Simon.

When the hell did you let this number break into the underground passage without the Church understanding it?

And really, such convenient sorcery exists that can conveniently manipulate such a hundred or more human spirits?

Simon's men, who were eight at first, were also three dead before countless raiders who would come face to face with no fear of death, now down to five.

"Seems to be breaking up and moving, but I wondered a little bit if there was anything sensible in the individual gathering of enemies. I didn't know you took man-made sea tactics and filled all over the underground corridor. If this were the case, we should have run away from the outside."

The first twenty approaching were traps to bring Cardinal Zebedai into the middle of the underground corridor.

At this rate, Simon had made that assumption, wondering if more than two hundred raiders might have hidden inside the underground passage.

"There's a problem. Even if the others die, if Simon is an amateur of this magnitude, that's a thousand people, but you can't lose. Wouldn't it?

"… I, too, intend to"

Simon nodded heavily at Cardinal Zebedai's words.

"You must be in this Heinz Church… no, in this country. Let me take you out for your life."

"Now that Heinstier, the capital of the Holy Land, has been driven so far, and the lives and deaths of the other four pillars of the Holy Land are suspicious, it is difficult to die there."

"I know, sir. But I am a good warrior."

"Don't be stupid. How many people in this country are standing shoulder to shoulder with Simon?

Simon meditates his eyes for a little while and breathes.

If you are as master of martial arts as Simon, you can always bring out a state near limitless completeness by trying to exhaust your body and spirit, reforming your spirit by meditation, and deliberately misleading your brain into the state of your flesh.

But no matter, it is an act of ignoring the screams of the body, the consideration it gets in exchange for the rest of its life.

"Thank you for waiting, excuse me. Let's go, then."

With Simon walking out, Cardinal Zebedai's line resumes its journey.

But after a short walk, Simon stopped again soon.

"What's the matter, Simon?"

"... oh well, here we are again. I thought it was time... just a little bit, don't you feel fast?

Simon squeaks.

The words were a disregard for Cardinal Zebedai.

"Hey Simon! What's wrong with you!

So Simon finally raises his face to Cardinal Zebedai.

"... they must have waited. That I'm exhausted. To that end, we have prepared this many raiders. I hear you got that much credit for not being able to break through this me with just man-made sea tactics. That must have been the purpose of hitting the main unit where I exhausted it."

As I say, I turn around the aisle I came from and go back.

He shook his head small, even as his men tried to chase Simon, bewildered.

"You take Cardinal Zebedai and run away. Sounds like a very distracting opponent. I can't afford to fight while I protect you."

"Shi, Master Shimon, that's......!

"Don't worry, I'm not going to die. But... I just want to focus on the battle."

Cardinal Zebedai's face clouds.

"What...? Simon, are you sure you need that? Nearly half of your men have already fallen."

"I wanted to protect you directly if I could, but I'm not strong enough, and I'm sorry. We will chase you as soon as we can."

"So, are we being pushed? We can't die yet!

Cardinal Zebedai absurds his voice.

"... I know. What it takes to move a country is power and, indeed, strength of will. There are not so many people in a country who have these two. Cardinal Zebedai, you have that power. Something you must never do, such as die here."

Cardinal Zebedai stared at Simon with a harsh face for a while.

But after realizing that Simon was apparently serious and honking his teeth, he turned his back on Simon silently.

"You will surely bring Cardinal Zebedai out safely. I'm not going to lose, just in case. Go a little farther and get out of here."

"... is"

Cardinal Zebedai, with Simon's men, disappears at the end of the aisle.

Simon starts going back down the aisle he's been through after dropping it off on his ass.

"It's time, why don't you come out?

The tone of the harp sounds more than the darkness at the end of the aisle, as Simon responds to his words.

Following the sound, one woman reveals herself.

The woman was unfamiliar with the occasion.

He wrapped a gorgeous thick coat of colour on a pair of shiny leather shoes and had a harp in his hand.

"... you're one of the eight top executives of" The Whistling Devil, "a woman called" The Rose of the Subworld "within your peers"

When Simon said so, the woman finally smiled slightly with her mouth alone.

"Well, you seem to know. Are you stupid, too?"

Your mouth moves, your eyes don't move as slightly as they creep.

"The Rose of the Subworld," one of the eight wise men, was a woman as if she were a doll.
