Former General Is Undead Knight
Episode X: Visit to Count Percilis' Territory (9)
The next day, Lambert was touring the city and gathering information again.
Of course, he also focused on listening to Dark Street Dredda, corroborating stories he had heard from Count Percilis, and the reputation of the Count Pawman family.
If it was the usual lambale, as long as we knew the least, we were just headed straight for our final destination, but this time we just had a little bit of a hook.
There were many stories that would have been resolved if I had asked Count Percilis, but based on the non-cooperative appearance of the old private Troinia, I had decided that more contact should be avoided than was necessary.
If he tried to get involved any worse, he thought there was also a risk of genuine hostility.
Besides, there was another reason why I didn't really want to board the Count Perciris mansion directly.
Lambert was also looking into the assassination of the Earl's owner and heir, but the more he asked, the more he was too handy.
When Count Percilis' father was poisoned, he ended up treating him without knowing what poison was being planted on him, and the poor man didn't even know his face when he put his two brothers in the assassination case.
It never seemed to me that Lambert had anybody inside the Count's house who had guided the assassination.
However, if he showed himself to go directly to the Count's mansion the other day to dig for roots and explore leaves, he could lose the opportunity to uncover the assassins.
The assassin must have been someone in a position to control the Count Pawman family.
As someone who has gained more trust than Count Percilis and has served for many years, Troinia rose first.
His thorny words and actions are irresistible given the current state of the Count Pawman family, but there remains a slight suspicion even on the basis of it.
As for Troinia, an interview with the inhabitants immediately revealed the details.
Troinia is a person of the Trago family, and the Trago family is a clan that has spawned swordsmen serving the Count Pawman family for generations.
The story was that Troinia was serving from the parents' behalf of Count Perciris, but in the unit of home it seemed to be a longer relationship.
Troinia even seemed to have more say than the weak incumbent, but with that background, it was a convincing story.
(… Generations, or)
If this story is true, the possibility also emerges that the Trago family was manipulating the Count Pawman family across generations and inducing the management of the Dark City to be dodged.
I would also have liked to know, if possible, about the formation and origins of the Count Pawman family, but I was unable to come into contact with anyone who was very familiar with them.
Simply crusading the Dark City leader, The Witch Without a Neck, did not seem to solve the case of Count Pursilis.
In the story of Count Percilis, it seemed that the purchase of Demonic Silver (Mithril), which had been taking place around the Dark City, had been done long before he became the dominant one.
If this is true, the amount of Magic Silver (Mithril) purchased is not easily concealed.
If it had been transported from Dark City Dredda to yet another territory, it should have been impossible to mislead the traces perfectly, but it was also impossible to get a story like that.
Probably something, karaki.
Lambert knew that if there were any doubts, they were highly probable connected by a line.
Darkness in Count Perciris' territory is not the only darkness in the Dark City of Dredda.
That's what Lambert thought it was necessary to clear all the darkness in the land in order to lead the territory to peace and uncover the hidden mass of demonic silver (Mithril) destinations of The Flute Demon.
"But... you just enrich your speculation. Perhaps we should ask Count Percilis again..."
As Lambert walked leaking to himself, I could see the private soldiers of Count Perciris running around in a bright blue face at a distance.
It was a terribly visionary sight.
"You're not joking all this time! Why did you let me out!
"All this is the Count's fault! I want to make Master Charles as free as possible, etc!
Lambert was listening to their voices, thoughts that made him headache.
Charles apparently escaped the Count's mansion again.
Neither the sermon of Troinia nor the words of Lambert seemed to sound very much.
The private soldiers who noticed Lambert rushed to him.
"Here, this is, Mr. Lambert! Thank you for helping Charles the other day and bringing him back to the Count's mansion!
The private soldier gets a bumpy look when he says that much.
"... well, it's hard to say, haven't you seen Master Charles or something?
"Unfortunately, I haven't seen it"
"Oh yeah, haha...... Mr. Lambert seemed completely nostalgic to me, so I thought maybe..."
The private soldier smiled bitterly with his tired face.
Lambert held down his helmet.
"I'm talking about the fact that one horse was missing. After all, didn't you already get out of this city...?
Another private soldier said something pompous and horrible.
"... Are you telling me Charles headed to Dark City?
In response to Lambert's inquiry, a private soldier shut up.
Lambert knew the answer without bothering to ask.
Charles was obsessed with himself heading to Dark City.
If the horse disappeared with her like that, we should have thought we headed first to Dark City.
"That's how much I advised you, you little girl...!
Lambert turned his back on them and ran out.
"Ah! Which way, Mr. Lambert...?
Lambert stopped and looked back slightly to them.
"... Which way, sooner or later, I needed to go to Dark City. I had a few more things to check on this land, but I don't know what else to do. But I just wanted to sell Count Percilis another favor."
When Lambert said so, he turned forward again and resumed his run.
