Chapter 1009 - 464: Misha’s Diary (I)
[Misha’s Diary (Complete)]
[It’s February 27, 2049, now, and the in-game date is the 7th of Song in Holy Calendar Year 9571, which means this ’diary,’ after being updated for some time, has finally been serialized to its last few pages.
Firstly, I want to thank the water friends for their support, enabling me, who’s not very good at storytelling, to stick with it until now, and not criticizing those hilarious typos and chaotic formatting in the previous posts. Please, you must believe that this darned input method indeed has a grudge against me (laugh).
Of course, I also need to thank the moderator @KindButFierceDragon for his favor, for keeping the ’diary’ pinned in this section for so long. The roast dove sister from the neighboring gourmet section almost suspects there’s some PY transaction between us.
Alright, let’s get back to the topic and return to the lingering war in Misha County, which finally came to a resounding conclusion tonight... okay, actually this morning.
But speaking of getting back to the topic, I still haven’t sorted out a good train of thought, even now, to tell about the longest night I’ve had since the day three years ago when I discovered I’d gained five pounds.
So, this time please allow me to narrate from my own first-person perspective...
I logged in just as the servers went live yesterday, and although it was only a blink of an eye for NPCs, for us it had already been a full 12 hours, a painstakingly tough and appetite-losing 12 hours.
As I’ve mentioned in the previous diary entry, our entire allied forces had camped on Hodir Mountain Path, which is a mountain path located north (yes, north) of the southern territory of Misha County. Under Hei Fan’s guidance, we made all the preparations we could, and everyone, energetic as if injected with chicken blood, regardless if players or NPCs, worked like mad, ready for a fight to the death with those zombies (the official term seems to be Mutants).
Because this was already covered in previous diary entries, I won’t go into details again here.
In short, seemingly unconcerned about morale, Hei Fan had already disclosed all the details of the Requiem Plan two days ago. It consists of four phases, and he distinctly made it clear that if any part encountered an issue, we all could be wiped out, and even if nothing went wrong, it was still not absolutely foolproof.
In the boss’s words, this was a desperate gamble with no way back.
Having joined the allied forces since the early days in Hover City, I know very well that he has done the best that he could. Many of my friends who joined with or after me share the same sentiment. To be honest, if it hadn’t been for Her Highness the Saintess by Hei Fan’s side, a few of the girls with me might have found an opportunity to make a move by now.
In fact, some girls still harbored a glimmer of hope, clinging to the notion that, as humans and ghosts travel different paths, they still had a chance, until someone saw Her Highness the Saintess’s name in the comprehensive strength leaderboard in the Public Space a few days ago. We then realized she was not any paper wife but a pro player, a real wife!
Cough cough, I’ve gotten off-topic again. Anyway, in Hei Fan’s words, we’ve made all the preparations; humanly we’ve done our part, and what’s left is up to fate.
So, at seven o’clock sharp in the Game Time this morning, one minute after I logged in, the Requiem Plan officially kicked off. Led by Her Highness Xia Lian of the Church of the Dawn and the behemoth of Cordova, they stormed out of the two long bridges to start ’pulling aggro,’ attracting nearly twenty thousand monsters’ aggro!
I was appointed as the observer for Zone Z21 yesterday and had already reached my designated position when I went offline. After a brief communication with Sister Feather Song, I began my task by conducting close observation near hundreds of monsters and reporting back every five minutes.
This was not a difficult job compared to what Xia Lian and the Cordova behemoth were undertaking, as the risks for us observers were almost negligible.
However, when the Cordova behemoth appeared in my line of sight, I was still inevitably shocked. Thousands of monsters following him passed majestically before me, the closest less than two meters away, close enough for me to smell their decaying stench.
But the second-ranked powerhouse was fearless, jogging along like he was out for a walk, casually leading away all the monsters from Zone Z21, while I, startled, took a good half a minute to snap back to reality.
I quickly relayed the situation to Sister Feather Song, and then I was informed that the mission was complete and to immediately return to Hodir Mountain Path using the previously agreed upon safe route.
After dusting myself with some rotten wood-scented Death Dust, I broke into a run back...
On the way, I received a message from a buddy named ’Gordon,’ the guy responsible for observing Zone Z8. He said he felt a sudden jolt of anxiety and hoped I would mention this in today’s diary, wanting to get famous. So, in short - Gordon felt a sudden jolt of anxiety. (Gordon, if you see this, remember to send me a red envelope.)
In less than twenty minutes, I had made my way back to Hodir Mountain Path without any trouble, then after a brief report, I was assigned to Monitoring Squad S17, responsible for observing a segment of the second phase. And then... and then Hei Fan actually added me as a friend a few minutes later and even asked me how I was doing! Ahhhh, I’m dying!
