Boom, boom, boom!!

In a flash, a figure cloaked in a purple robe and wearing a mirror face mask shot out. With a speed indiscernible to the naked eye, he unleashed dozens of punches that instantly killed three assassins charging at the forefront, and simultaneously drew two whip-like swords coiled around his waist. He swung his arms and released a blinding burst of sword light, pinning down the dozen assailants who were rushing towards him.

This person, bestowed with the name Purple Mirror, the head of the Purple Thorn Guard, single-handedly intercepted nearly a hundred attackers who had successively broken through the defenses of the Dundis and Hussein positions!

Just like Baroka Family’s Mountain Knight Order, Marshal Family’s Mercury Guard, and Fire Claw’s Blood Claw Guard, the Zijing Guard has always been the sharpest weapon in the hands of the Violet Royal Family. And Purple Mirror, as the predominant wielder of this weapon, naturally possessed peerless loyalty and strength. He was always a constant presence by the side of Claivo in imperial campaigns.

As for how strong the commander of the Purple Thorn Guard really was...

Put it this way, although Purple Mirror had not elevated to a Sword Saint like Warren Dundis to become a legendary figure, if the two were to clash directly, this mysterious man hidden behind the mask would neither win nor lose!

His specific ranks were as follows—

Middle Level Knight, Middle Level Berserker, Middle Level Earth Mage, Middle Level Water Mage, Middle Level Fertility Priest...

And an Advanced Swordsman, High-Level Martial Monk, Shadow Master (an Epic Tier derivative of the Thief class).

Clearly, Purple Mirror was a man of exceptional talent, great perception, and without weaknesses.

With his capabilities, coupled with the resources he could mobilize as the Commander of the Zijing Guard, if Purple Mirror had the intention to become a top-tier fighter, he could certainly reach the legendary status much earlier than the once-in-a-century genius—Warren Dundis of the Dundis Family.

But he hadn’t done so, even though he clearly understood that he could advance to legendary status by focusing on one, or possibly two, professions. Purple Mirror still hadn’t taken that path.

There were two reasons for this...

Firstly, due to the unique status of the Violet Family, which is the [Royal Family], the Empire had spawned a rule centuries ago that ’the Royal Family must not possess decisive combat power’. The reason, naturally, was to maintain balance. Although secret advancement was possible, neither Claivo nor Purple Mirror was willing to take that risk. Once discovered, it could lead to severe consequences and, if not handled properly, it could cause the Bracen Family to fall and completely turn into puppets.

Secondly, Purple Mirror himself did not intend to become a specialist top-tier fighter. Despite his remarkable physical fitness and an almost genius-level sense for elements, able to achieve impressive results on any path, there would inevitably be certain drawbacks—or rather, blind spots.

The rationale here is a bit more complex. If Purple Mirror’s talents had been enough to make him a powerhouse like Fara Osiris, then it wouldn’t have been a problem—troubles aside, he could have even helped the Violet Family subjugate other lords forcefully, but he could not.

Although being of Legendary Rank sounds incredibly powerful, the current world of Legendary figures is not few and far between. At the very least, they number in the thousands, and often the difference between legends is immense—the gap between the strongest and weakest Legends could even seem insurmountable, and Purple Mirror knew from the start that, with his talents, even if he elevated to Legendary, he would not be among the strongest because he was too well-rounded—having good physical fitness, high talent perception, great magic sensitivity, but his ultimate potential was too balanced, meaning, not extreme enough.

To give an example with Anka Market’s Great Sage of Starlight, his magical talent was outrageously high, but his physical fitness—well, frankly speaking, during that polite handshake back then, Jadka really didn’t exert much force, yet the revered Sage was still trembling in pain and drenched in cold sweat.

If his magical talent was A++, his physical talent was no doubt a D, and no amount of exercise would do more than keep him healthy—forget about dreaming of a six-pack.abs

This is why the Great Sage Martin could go further on the path of magic.

Purple Mirror, on the other hand, was the type of man who had B++ level in strength, endurance, agility, magical power, and artifacts (stricken through)—even if he specialized in one path, he wouldn’t become outrageously strong.

Therefore, he chose a path most would not consider—holistic development.

Being a Knight would allow him to better manage his warhorse, the Berserker’s Bloodthirsty Fury would let him ignore pain, Earth Magic would greatly enhance his capacities as a protector, Water Magic and Fertility Magic would allow him, lacking the Pharmacist talent, to save lives in critical moments, the Swordsman and Martial Monk would enhance his raw strength and physical fitness, and Shadow Master was a necessary rank for every generation’s Commander of the Zijing Guard.

From this, it wasn’t hard to see how loyal Purple Mirror was to the Royal Family. The professions he chose, the path he took, were almost all to better assist the Violet Family.
