Chapter 502: Hot-blooded Little Mo (4)
Even as they were being arrested, the male driver and the bald woman were in utter disbelief.
They couldn’t believe it in the slightest.
From the moment Little Tang Mo had suddenly run out to smash the car, they had been completely bewildered.
Or rather, they knew something had gone wrong, but they couldn’t react in time or figure out exactly what it was.
One moment everything was fine, the next they were inexplicably being held responsible for a damaged car and forced to resort to violence, all in a matter of moments.
They had clearly pushed those people back and were about to grab Little Tang Mo and run, but then, of all times, the police showed up.
What rotten luck, what an impossible coincidence—the police had arrived!
And they were caught.
So many times they had escaped death, and in all these years, they had never been caught. So many times they had gotten away, but this time, they were captured!
Why!
Why!
Why!
No matter how they thought about it, they couldn’t make sense of it. Everything felt so absurd, so unbelievable, like a nightmare that couldn’t possibly be real.
But the handcuffs on their wrists were a stark reminder that this was reality!
They couldn’t accept it. They absolutely could not accept this reality.
They had already completed the mission safely. All that was left was to deliver this "shipment" and the handover would be complete. Everything would have been perfect.
They were just one step away, right at the finish line, but now this!
The male driver and the bald woman felt like they were going insane.
When they saw Little Tang Mo appear—his gaze and his entire demeanor completely changed—they wanted nothing more than to tear him limb from limb.
This wasn’t some timid quail; this... this boy was a devil!
How could they have misjudged him? How could they have been so wrong?
"I’ll kill you, you little fraud! I must’ve been blind!"
The male driver cursed and lunged forward, but in the next second, he was slammed hard against the car.
"Still not behaving?! Are you looking to die?!"
Before the male driver and the bald woman could curse any further, they were shoved into a vehicle.
Being dangerous individuals, they were naturally forced into the back compartment, surrounded by a wire mesh cage.
"Don’t be scared," the squad leader said, offering a dry attempt at comfort. But he noticed that Little Tang Mo didn’t even flinch.
The two little girls didn’t seem scared either.
"You... you all..." The squad leader started to say something, but saw that Little Tang Mo wasn’t looking at them. Instead, he was looking at the car owner and his wife, who had followed them with utterly bewildered expressions.
That’s right, the victims—the car owner and his wife.
To this moment, the couple was still completely dazed.
Everything they’d been through today felt like a disaster that had fallen from the sky, followed by a twist that left them stunned.
Things had been perfectly fine, then some kid jumped out and started smashing and scratching their car. It was only natural for them to seek out the troublesome kid’s parents to settle the score.
But before they could settle anything, the troublesome kid’s "parents" suddenly pulled out a knife, and the car owner even got cut.
Then the police appeared and arrested them on the spot.
Normal people don’t carry knives around. The couple knew something was very wrong.
Frightened and confused, they followed the police who were escorting the male driver and the others over to the police car.
The ones with the knife had been pushed into the car, but what about them?
Just as the couple was standing there in a daze, they saw the troublesome kid walk over.
"You little troublemaker..."
The car owner blurted out the moment he saw Little Tang Mo.
"I’m sorry, sir."
Little Tang Mo immediately bowed and apologized. "I’m sorry, ma’am. I didn’t do it on purpose."
The couple: "...Uh."
Little Tang Mo was genuinely sorry. "Sir, is your hand badly hurt? Do you need to go to the hospital?"
The car owner looked at his arm. "It’s fine. It’s just a small cut. The blood just makes it look scarier than it is."
He waved his hand dismissively, then remembered. "But my car..."
"I know. I’ll compensate you. My mom will pay you for the repairs, or even the whole car,"
Little Tang Mo said immediately.
The couple looked blank. "...Your mom?"
"Yes, my mom. My mom in the Imperial City. My mom will pay for it."
Little Tang Mo nodded emphatically.
The couple, along with the squad leader and Brother Glasses, were all speechless. "..."
’Where does this kid get his confidence?’
Little Tang Mo’s confidence, of course, came from Su Li.
Previously, Su Li had taught Little Tang Mo self-rescue methods. Regarding the method Little Tang Mo just used, Su Li’s exact words had been:
"...It’s okay, Little Mo. If by any chance—and I mean, any chance—you run into bad people and have to use this method, just pick the most expensive thing. It’s fine!"
"Mom has money. No matter what you smash, Mom can pay for it. Any amount is fine."
With Su Li’s words and her backing, Little Tang Mo hadn’t hesitated. He had acted decisively.
Because only by acting decisively could he save himself.
The squad leader looked at Little Tang Mo, then at the couple. "You two are victims as well. Come with us. We won’t let you suffer a loss for nothing."
There was something about Little Tang Mo’s words that was strangely convincing. Plus, the police had spoken up, so the couple breathed a sigh of relief.
Their precious car was still parked on the roadside. They decided to go get it and follow behind.
After the couple left, the squad leader was about to speak, but Little Tang Mo beat him to it.
"Let’s talk in the car."
After saying this, Little Tang Mo opened the car door himself, helped Little Tongtong and Little Yang Mei get in, and then climbed in after them.
Brother Glasses and the squad leader looked at each other again for a moment, then obediently got in the car.
After the car drove out of the bustling city center, Little Tang Mo finally spoke.
"Officer, you are from the municipal police, correct? Once we arrive, please find your superior. I will begin my official statement after they arrive. This case is too important, and I don’t want to, nor do I have the time, to repeat myself over and over."
The squad leader: "...Uh, little guy..."
Little Tang Mo turned to the squad leader. "I’m not joking. We were abducted in the Imperial City. From the train to the truck transport... for four days we’ve traveled from the Imperial City, across an entire province, to get here..."
The squad leader looked into Little Tang Mo’s eyes and listened to his words, his mind reeling in shock.
"You... you mean you remember all of that?"
Little Tang Mo nodded. "Yes, I remember it all."
"The truck that transported us... its license plate number is... It’s parked not far from where we were, about seven hundred meters away. You can send someone to check."
The squad leader nodded blankly. "Okay. When we get back, I’ll have someone check it out."
The car arrived quickly. The squad leader was, indeed, from the municipal police.
Upon arrival, the male driver and the bald woman were swiftly taken to an interrogation room. The squad leader immediately went to find his superior, while Brother Glasses accompanied Little Tang Mo to the main office area.
The first thing Little Tang Mo did upon arrival was ask to use a phone to call home and let them know he was safe.
After he went missing, his mom must have been beside herself, frantic with worry. He had no idea how many times she must have cried.
Little Tang Mo thought about all the suffering Su Li had endured because of him before, and his heart ached terribly.
He wanted to tell his mom at the first possible moment that he was safe, that he was okay now, so she could stop worrying.
