’This is outrageous!’

When they reached the entrance of the police station, Jasper Shaw helped Chloe Sinclair with her hat and said earnestly, "Pull the brim down a little. Don’t want you getting cold."

Jasper Shaw pushed Chloe Sinclair’s bangs back, revealing her smooth, clear forehead.

The next moment, he pulled the hat down, tugging it right to her eyebrows. It didn’t block her vision, but Chloe Sinclair still found it a little uncomfortable.

She adjusted the hat herself and suddenly asked, "Can I go to the office with you today?"

Jasper Shaw froze for a moment, a surge of joy welling up in his chest.

But when he remembered he had to work late, he reluctantly refused.

"I’m working overtime tonight. I’m not going back to the villa."

But Chloe Sinclair shook her head. "That’s fine, I need to organize my notes anyway. I’ll keep you company."

Jasper Shaw, thinking that the day’s events had upset her, nodded in agreement. "Alright, let’s go to the supermarket first."

It was already getting late.

However, the commercial street was still brightly lit. Warm, yellow lights cast shadows across the pavement, and the sidewalks were bustling with people.

The two got in the car and drove straight to the office.

As they pulled up to the building, Chloe Sinclair saw that the lights were on in every room of the towering high-rise.

Jasper Shaw explained, "I gave them a month off."

Chloe Sinclair understood immediately.

’Most white-collar workers are lucky to get half a month off for the New Year. Jasper Shaw gave them a full month, so of course they’d have to work overtime to get everything done beforehand.’

With this in mind, Chloe Sinclair looked at Ian Winters, who was walking behind them. "Assistant Winters, could you please go and order coffee for the entire company and have it distributed?"

Ian Winters nodded quickly and turned to head downstairs.

But he hadn’t taken more than two steps before Jasper Shaw called out to him.

Jasper Shaw said, "While you’re at it, order set meals from the restaurant downstairs. Put it on my account."

Ian Winters pushed up his glasses and gave a calm "Mm" of acknowledgment.

Inwardly, however, he was so happy he felt like he could fly to the moon.

After all, Jasper Shaw normally never bothered with such matters. The coffee for the employees was paid for out of a standard company budget.

Since the big boss was treating them for once, Ian Winters didn’t hold back, choosing the most expensive set meals from a restaurant near the office.

---

Chloe Sinclair had only been to the company twice before. Just as she and Jasper entered his office, the head of the sales department came in to deliver a file.

Jasper Shaw glanced at it and winced—it was an eyesore. He was about to lash out, but then he remembered Chloe Sinclair was there, and his tone softened considerably.

The head of the sales department had been on pins and needles before she even came in.

After all, the file had been revised over a dozen times, and each time, the big boss had sent it back to be redone.

The moment she saw the look in the big boss’s eyes, she knew she was finished.

What she hadn’t expected, however, was for the big boss’s tone to be so mild.

The head of the sales department just stood there, stunned, even after Jasper Shaw had finished speaking.

"Are you going to leave?"

The department head snapped out of her daze, nodded as if she’d been granted a pardon, and scurried out of the office.

Not long after the department head left, Ian Winters came in carrying a bag.

"Boss, here is your coffee, and some snacks and fruit for Miss Sinclair."

Having been his assistant for so long, Ian Winters had a firm grasp of Jasper Shaw’s temperament.

He knew that in the big boss’s eyes, Chloe Sinclair was his entire world; nothing was more important than her.

So, when ordering for the rest of the company, he had also placed a separate order just for Chloe Sinclair.

Chloe Sinclair was, as expected, delighted. She thanked him and took the items.

Jasper Shaw said, "Ian Winters, you’re getting a raise this month."

By now, Ian Winters was completely composed. He pushed up his glasses, the corners of his mouth twitching slightly, and said without changing his expression, "Thank you, Boss."
