Chapter 389 - 478: Gifts
On the verge of tears, Chloe Sinclair had no choice but to let them inside.
As she walked toward the bed, she subconsciously glanced in the direction of the bathroom.
’Thank goodness the door isn’t frosted glass like the one in Jasper Shaw’s room. Otherwise, everything would be exposed the moment the light was turned on.’
Chloe Sinclair let out a long sigh of relief.
"Chloe, come over and open your presents."
Chloe snapped back to reality. "Coming!" she called out, hurrying over.
Gabriel said, "You really must have just woken up, Chloe. We called your name a few times, but it was like you couldn’t hear us."
Chloe laughed nervously, feeling a pang of guilt.
Her gaze returned to the several gift boxes of various sizes on the table.
Mr. Sinclair was the first to speak. "I’m getting old, so I don’t really know what you young people like anymore. I decided to have a villa built for you in the suburbs of Emberfall. But time was tight, so it probably won’t be completed until the end of next year."
Ethan Sinclair said, handing her a small box, "I heard your little Audi got rear-ended. It wasn’t a very expensive car, so I figured you could use a replacement. These are the keys. I’ve already arranged to have the car delivered to you in Emberfall."
Chloe opened the gift box and glanced at the car key.
’Oh, wow. A Maserati.’
A Maserati wasn’t outrageously expensive—ranging from two to eight million on the market—and was even considered quite low-key among luxury cars.
Next, Landon Sinclair handed her a very thin box. "This is five percent of the family’s shares in the company," he said. "I’m giving them to you. You’ll receive dividends from it every year."
Chloe was stunned.
After all, shares in the Sinclair Group were highly coveted.
When his children came of age, Mr. Sinclair had given each of them a ten-percent stake in the company. The siblings earned nearly a billion a year from the dividends alone.
Those shares had originally been designated for Nina Sinclair, but since she was not yet of age, Mr. Sinclair had been holding them in trust for her.
After Chloe returned, Mr. Sinclair had originally planned to give her an additional ten-percent stake in the company.
He felt that even though he now knew Nina wasn’t his biological daughter, they had lived together for so many years, after all. He had intended to leave that ten-percent stake for Nina.
However, after "that incident" occurred, Mr. Sinclair quickly rescinded her shares.
Of course, Mr. Sinclair didn’t take back the separate shares he had designated for Chloe.
He had lost his daughter for so many years and was constantly looking for ways to make it up to her.
Financial compensation was the only way he knew how.
As a result, by the time Chloe came of age, she already possessed a twenty-percent stake in the Sinclair Group.
Her annual dividends alone could exceed two billion.
Now that Landon was giving her another five percent, she would become a major shareholder in the Sinclair Group.
Chloe blinked. After a moment’s hesitation, she accepted the gift and flashed a brilliant, sweet smile. "If you’re ever short on cash, Second Brother, just come find me!"
’She knew that Landon normally relied on his own dividends to fund his research.’
’Otherwise, with such high daily material consumption, what domestic research lab other than a triple-S-tier institute could afford to be so extravagant?’
Everyone laughed at Chloe’s remark.
After the laughter died down, all eyes turned to Gabriel.
Even Chloe looked at him, full of expectation.
She and Gabriel were the closest in age, so they always had plenty to talk about.
In her past life, even though Gabriel was always too busy with work to come home, his gifts for her had never once been missed.
Even after that incident, Gabriel had continued to prepare her annual gifts for years to come, mailing them out on schedule.
Each gift was a heartfelt token of his affection.
"So, what did you get for me, Gabriel?"
Gabriel acted mysterious. He hadn’t placed his gift on the table; instead, he pulled it from his pocket.
It was a small black box, the kind used for a diamond ring.
