Chapter 390 - 479: Let Them Be the Engagement Rings

The jet-black box featured a gold logo.

Chloe Sinclair glanced at it. It looked familiar, but she couldn’t quite place it.

"What is this?" Mr. Sinclair frowned. He always had a feeling his foolish son would buy something completely unexpected.

Sure enough, Gabriel, the son in question, gave a mischievous chuckle and opened the small black gift box. Nestled inside were two silver rings.

Mr. Sinclair: "..."

Sinclair: "..."

Her second brother: "..."

The three of them stared speechlessly at Gabriel, their gazes sharp enough to kill.

’Can’t this idiot ever do anything normal?’

Gabriel, however, seemed oblivious. He assumed their expressions were a result of being astonished by his gift.

Chuckling again, he handed the black gift box to Chloe. "I specially commissioned these couple’s rings from Master Mayfield abroad. They were crazy expensive. I even had to become his brand ambassador to get them."

Chloe listened as she took the box and examined it closely.

It was just as she remembered.

These were the rings Gabriel had given her before he committed suicide.

They were identical to the two rings in the box.

The men’s ring was quite simple, but the inside was engraved with her and Jasper Shaw’s names.

The women’s ring was more intricate. A diamond, silver with a hint of purple, was set in the center, glittering under the fluorescent lights.

It was exquisite.

Chloe couldn’t put it down; she genuinely loved the gift from Gabriel.

And for that very reason, the faces of the Sinclair family patriarchs all darkened.

’Of course, they couldn’t say anything to their precious daughter, but this youngest son of theirs...’

Mr. Sinclair gritted his teeth and smacked Gabriel on the back of the head.

Stunned by the sudden slap, Gabriel was completely bewildered.

He looked at his dad, his eyes filled with confusion and, even more so, a sense of being wronged.

’My sister loves this gift so much.’

’So why am I getting hit?’

’This is so unfair!’

Seeing his foolish son still hadn’t gotten the hint, Mr. Sinclair said in exasperation, "And you have the gall to feel wronged? It’s not like the young couple is broke. Since when are their rings any of your business?"

’Besides, does that little bastard deserve to wear such a beautiful ring?’

’And this foolish son of mine can’t even tell friend from foe!’

Mr. Sinclair was usually good-tempered, but right now he felt like stuffing this son back in the womb and starting over.

Chloe said, "Dad, don’t scold my brother. And honestly, I really like these rings. Let’s just consider them mine and Jasper’s engagement rings."

The Sinclair patriarchs: "..."

As the patriarchs stood there, speechless, they then heard Gabriel’s smug voice.

"Dad, I’m telling you, you should just give up on that idea of yours. Besides, we already went and taught Jasper a lesson—"

He didn’t even finish his sentence before several sharp glares landed on him.

It looked like they were about to murder him on the spot.

Gabriel instantly clamped his mouth shut and pantomimed zipping his lips.

’Shit!’

’I let it slip.’

He shot a pleading look at Chloe.

The young woman frowned and asked, "Taught Jasper a lesson? What do you mean?"

All at once, she remembered the bruises on Jasper’s face.

Jasper had been so evasive when she’d asked about them. To think this was the reason.

’Still, Jasper must have taken it head-on. They came looking for him, and he didn’t even try to dodge.’

’Judging from the state of his face back then, I can’t imagine how many punches he took.’

Thinking this, Chloe found she couldn’t stay angry at her family. Her tone was tinged with resignation as she said, "Just... don’t do this again."

She understood her family’s feelings, but she didn’t want Jasper to get hurt, either.
