Chapter 299 - 300: Unanimous Support
Hearing this, Julian Dawson glanced at Shawn Styles.
’It seems he really doesn’t.’
Seeing this, Chloe Sinclair said, "So, you see, while you have the advantage of long legs, that very length has become your most difficult hurdle to overcome."
Chloe Sinclair used an analogy: "Shawn Styles’s legs aren’t as long as yours, so his strides aren’t as big. Consequently, he doesn’t need as much power, which conserves his energy."
For a professional athlete, long legs aren’t a bad thing, but they aren’t necessarily a good thing either.
Julian Dawson seemed to only half-understand. He scratched his head, his eyes full of impatience. "But then why can I still finish second?"
If his long legs were a disadvantage like Chloe Sinclair said, why was he still running right behind Shawn Styles?
Seeing this, Chloe Sinclair explained with considerable patience, "As I said, your long legs are a disadvantage and an advantage at the same time. It all depends on how you use them."
"Also, I can see that you’re very competitive. But if your stride falls into disarray, you will lose the race without a doubt."
Julian Dawson didn’t argue the point about his competitive nature.
It was a widely acknowledged fact.
What he hadn’t expected, however, was that Chloe Sinclair could discern all of this from a single run.
That alone was enough to make Julian Dawson’s attitude shift slightly.
After finishing with Julian Dawson’s issues, Chloe Sinclair started going down the list of names, pointing out the problems each person had.
There were a total of one hundred and three people on the sports team. Within four minutes, Chloe Sinclair had critiqued every single one of them, whether she knew them or not.
Professor Young stood to the side, looking quite pleased.
Because the problems Chloe Sinclair pointed out all matched up perfectly with the athletes.
And Julian Dawson, who had initially looked down on Chloe Sinclair, was utterly in awe when he witnessed this.
After finishing her critiques, Chloe Sinclair’s throat was a little dry.
Seeing this, Julian Dawson surprisingly beat Shawn Styles to it, stepping forward with a fawning expression on his face. "Miss Sinclair, have some water."
His attitude was a complete one-eighty from before.
Chloe Sinclair wasn’t surprised by Julian Dawson’s change of heart. She took a sip of the mineral water quite naturally.
Her throat finally felt much better, and only then did Chloe Sinclair speak. "What I’ve said isn’t a denial of your abilities. You need to understand that some of you joined the sports team as young as four. Over more than a decade, tens of thousands of people have been weeded out, so the fact that you’re still standing here is a testament to how outstanding you all are."
"But, you’ve all heard the saying, ’There’s always more to learn,’ right?"
Chloe Sinclair looked at the crowd, her large, beautiful eyes sweeping across them. But when her gaze met some of theirs, they grew shy and didn’t dare to look her in the eye.
Chloe Sinclair felt a bit helpless, not really expecting anyone to answer.
However, as if he wasn’t afraid of the awkwardness, Julian Dawson stood at the back and shot his hand high in the air. "I know!"
Afraid Chloe Sinclair hadn’t heard him, he shouted again, even louder, "I know the saying ’There’s always more to learn’!"
Chloe Sinclair didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. She waved at him, hoping Julian Dawson wouldn’t be so conspicuous.
But Julian Dawson’s answer did liven up the atmosphere quite a bit.
So Chloe Sinclair struck while the iron was hot and continued, "Running also requires proper methods and techniques. Some physical disadvantages can be corrected through training."
The moment she finished speaking, Julian Dawson raised his hand again. "Miss Sinclair, can I change through training too?"
Chloe Sinclair looked over at him and gave a gentle nod.
"Yes."
