Chapter 300 - 301: Training
With that, Chloe Sinclair’s gaze swept over the group. "Next, I’ll be splitting you into groups for instruction. When I call your name, please step forward."
The team members all responded in agreement.
Five minutes later, everyone had been divided into groups.
Chloe Sinclair handed the folder back to Coach Young. "There are no shortcuts when it comes to running," she said. "And I’m quite busy myself, so I can’t personally oversee every detail. I’ll have to ask you to take on some of the hard work, Coach."
Coach Young was secretly pleased and quickly replied, "It’s no trouble at all! If I can understand your methods, it will only benefit our athletes."
Chloe Sinclair said, "I’ll compile everything into a manual later. If there’s anything you don’t understand, it will be clearly explained in there."
After a moment’s thought, Chloe Sinclair added, "But I’ll still need to see the files for the other athletes."
’I can’t get a clear picture of everyone based on today’s observations alone.’
The athletes she had critiqued today were the ones whose files she had already reviewed.
Coach Young quickly agreed. "Alright, I’ll go get the files. Will you start the training in the meantime, Miss Sinclair?"
"Okay."
After Coach Young left, Chloe Sinclair returned to the track.
"Before we start in our groups, there’s one more thing I need to tell you all."
"My training methods may not be suitable for everyone. So if you’re not willing to spend your time on this with me, you can withdraw now."
Chloe Sinclair genuinely didn’t want them to have any regrets.
’She wasn’t a miracle worker, after all.’
But since she had made a promise to Shawn Styles, she naturally wanted to deliver satisfactory results for everyone.
The seconds ticked by, but even after waiting for some time, no one made a move to leave.
Chloe Sinclair confirmed one last time, "Don’t worry about Professor Young. I’m not joking, either. If you’re willing to trust me, I promise I will teach you in earnest."
Julian Dawson suddenly spoke up, his voice loud. "Miss Sinclair, it’s only for a day or two anyway. We can just see how it goes, right?"
With Julian Dawson having spoken up, Chloe Sinclair could only nod.
Looking at the athletes now in their groups, Chloe Sinclair announced, "Over the next two days, I will create customized training plans for you based on your individual conditions."
"In ten minutes, Shawn Styles will lead you all through five thirty-meter acceleration sprints."
No one had any objections to this.
Acceleration sprints train an athlete’s explosive power, so as soon as Chloe Sinclair gave the order, everyone understood its purpose.
By the end of the training session, everyone was exhausted.
Chloe Sinclair didn’t rush them into the next exercise. Instead, she had them cool down while she spoke.
"With acceleration sprints, you can’t start off slow. A lot of people ease into it and then try to pick up speed later on. That’s a terrible habit to get into."
Bad habits are a dangerous thing.
Chloe Sinclair called out a few names, pointing out each person’s specific issues.
"Julian Dawson, I haven’t seen your file yet. Are you a long-distance or short-distance runner?"
Julian Dawson let out a "Huh?", clearly caught off guard.
After a moment, he quickly replied, "I’m a long-distance runner."
Chloe Sinclair nodded in understanding, filing the information away.
She changed the subject. "This afternoon’s session will be high-intensity training. Make sure you all rest well during the lunch break. I’ll see you this afternoon."
’Dismissed this early?’
Some of them couldn’t believe it.
"Miss Sinclair, we can keep training."
One of the athletes felt this morning’s session had been too short, a waste of valuable time.
Chloe Sinclair had already turned to leave, but she turned back at his words, a faint smile playing on her lips. "There’s no need to rush your training. In any case, make sure you use this morning to rest. Otherwise, you won’t get any breaks at all this afternoon."
