Chapter 384 - 473: Revelation
Chloe Sinclair was beautiful. Though she wore ragged clothes every day, she had a face that everyone adored.
As a result, many of the boys in her class had a secret crush on Chloe Sinclair.
When Chloe Sinclair left, it took everyone a long time to get over their gloom.
Chloe Sinclair had no idea about any of this, so she just smiled without saying a word.
After chatting for a bit, Bob Hayes looked at Chloe Sinclair’s car, and the guilt on his face intensified.
"I’m so sorry about what happened. This car must have been hard to get, huh?"
Staring at the extensive damage, Bob Hayes scratched his hair in frustration. "How about I buy you a new one?"
Chloe Sinclair shook her head. "There’s no need. I’ll just take it in for repairs later."
She wasn’t that bothered by the accident to begin with, especially since Bob Hayes was an old classmate.
But Bob Hayes still couldn’t let it go. "This car must be pretty expensive, right? Will your family get mad at you since it’s damaged?"
He’d overheard the teachers in the office talking about how Chloe Sinclair was the young miss of some big family.
On TV, the rich heiresses who return to their families never have an easy time of it.
Bob Hayes immediately pictured a whole soap opera playing out in his head.
Chloe Sinclair had no idea what was going through Bob Hayes’s head. She had no other choice but to have him add her on WeChat.
After they took the car to the dealership for repairs, Bob Hayes offered to drive her home.
Chloe Sinclair glanced at the time. The buses in the area had already stopped running, so she didn’t refuse.
In the car, Bob Hayes carefully turned the steering wheel while silently reciting driving mantras.
Chloe Sinclair was now absolutely sure of it. Bob Hayes must have just gotten his license.
To make matters worse, the car stalled halfway there!
Chloe Sinclair buried her face in her hands. "Why don’t I drive?"
Bob Hayes nodded, muttering "Oh, okay," and switched places with Chloe Sinclair.
Things went much more smoothly this time.
Bob Hayes’s jaw was slack the entire ride. "Chloe, you’re incredible!"
Hearing the thick, regional accent mixed in with his Mandarin, Chloe Sinclair was momentarily at a loss for words.
Bob Hayes, however, started chatting as if they were old friends. "My dad and I moved to Kennet. I just got my license today. I was hoping for a little celebration, but then I ended up rear-ending you."
As he said this, his face flushed a deep red.
Still, he was thoroughly impressed with Chloe Sinclair.
If he remembered correctly, Chloe Sinclair was only eighteen or nineteen. She must have gotten her license recently, just like him, but she was already such a skilled driver.
In comparison, he was just too inept.
"Oh, right. How have your folks been doing in Kennet?"
Chloe Sinclair, who had been driving carefully, frowned when she heard this. "My folks?"
Bob Hayes froze for a second, then it dawned on him. "I mean your adoptive parents," he explained. "Have they not arrived yet? I saw them about half a month ago, carrying all sorts of bags. They said they were going to find their daughter. What, they didn’t come looking for you?"
The moment she heard that, Chloe Sinclair had a pretty good idea of what was happening.
"I’m not sure. They probably went to find their real daughter."
Bob Hayes fell silent.
He suddenly remembered that Chloe Sinclair hadn’t exactly been the favorite child.
Realizing he’d said the wrong thing, an apologetic look crossed Bob Hayes’s face, and he didn’t bring it up again.
When they arrived at the villa complex, Chloe Sinclair parked the car and got out.
She turned to Bob Hayes and thanked him sincerely. "Thanks for bringing me home today."
If it hadn’t been for Bob Hayes, it probably would have taken her a lot longer to get back.
At Chloe Sinclair’s words of thanks, the blush that had just faded from Bob Hayes’s face immediately rushed back.
"N-no, it’s nothing."
Bob Hayes: "..."
’Damn it, what did I just say?’
’After wrecking her car, wasn’t driving her home the very least I could do?’
’"It was nothing," my ass.’
Bob Hayes truly wanted to kick himself!
