Chapter 393 - 382: Okay, Dad
Jasper Shaw arrived early the next morning.
He wore a black suit, making him appear tall and elegant. Even his sharp, falcon-like eyes had softened.
When Uncle Warren heard someone knocking, he immediately opened the door.
He was slightly taken aback when he saw Jasper Shaw.
"Hello, Mr. Shaw."
Given Jasper Shaw’s high standing in the business world, everyone addressed him as Mr. Shaw.
Jasper Shaw nodded. "Hello."
After saying this, Uncle Warren stepped aside. "Please come in. I’ll go inform the young miss."
At that moment, Chloe Sinclair was still upstairs, catching up on sleep.
She had originally planned to sleep like the dead during the Spring Festival, but unfortunately, something had come up last night.
’I have to go to bed early tonight!’
When Uncle Warren called for her, Chloe Sinclair had just gotten out of bed. Her eyes were bleary with sleep, her hair was a mess, and there was still sleep in the corners of her eyes.
Hearing Uncle Warren say from the doorway that Jasper Shaw had arrived, she immediately jumped out of bed and started pacing, looking for something to wear.
Kennet was located in the south, so there was no central heating; the house was warmed only by the air conditioner.
The indoor temperature was high, so Chloe Sinclair just wore a red knit sweater and a long black skirt.
In her slippers, she pattered quickly down the stairs.
Just then, Mr. Sinclair heard the commotion downstairs and was about to go down himself. But he hadn’t expected his precious daughter to move as fast as lightning, leaving behind only an afterimage.
Mr. Sinclair: "..."
A knot of frustration tightened in his chest, and he felt incredibly annoyed.
He hurried after her and went downstairs.
Downstairs, Uncle Warren was explaining that all the Spring Festival couplets around the house had been written by Chloe Sinclair herself.
Jasper Shaw glanced at them, his eyes full of admiration. He praised them sincerely, "Excellent calligraphy."
Mr. Sinclair, who was just about to come down the stairs, heard this. His eyes filled with pride, but he just lifted his head haughtily and snorted softly.
Everyone turned toward the source of the sound.
Jasper Shaw was the first to stand up. In a calm and unhurried tone, he said, "Uncle Sinclair."
Mr. Sinclair heard this and frowned.
"What did you say?"
Jasper Shaw froze for a moment. He glanced at Mr. Sinclair, then at the young woman on the sofa, enjoying the show.
Suddenly, his heart leaped with joy.
’If he won’t let me call him Uncle, doesn’t that mean...’
The delight on Jasper Shaw’s face was plain to see.
Mr. Sinclair looked like he was facing a great enemy. Before Jasper Shaw could even speak, he heard him say, "Hello, Dad!"
Mr. Sinclair: "..."
He clutched his heart, growing angrier the more he looked at this son-in-law.
But with his own daughter present, he didn’t let his anger show too obviously, no matter how furious he was.
"Don’t get too familiar. You haven’t married my daughter yet."
Having said that, he angrily chugged a large mouthful of water.
Jasper Shaw didn’t dare anger Mr. Sinclair any further. His dark eyes deepened as he said, "Okay, Dad."
"PFFT!"
Mr. Sinclair sprayed out a mouthful of water, nearly choking to death.
He looked up at Jasper Shaw’s impassive face and couldn’t for the life of him understand what his precious daughter saw in such a block of wood.
Seeing this, Chloe Sinclair knew she had to step in before her dad exploded from anger.
"Dad, your shirt is wet. Why don’t you go upstairs and change? You don’t want to catch a cold."
Mr. Sinclair was clearly very receptive to his daughter’s concern.
So he nodded, shooting Jasper Shaw a vicious glare before he left.
However, as if he didn’t feel it at all, Jasper Shaw just nodded at Mr. Sinclair. "Take care, Father-in-law."
Mr. Sinclair stumbled and practically flew up the stairs in just a few steps.
Round One.
Jasper Shaw wins.
Uncle Warren had things to do, so he didn’t stay in the living room for long before getting back to his work.
Just as Uncle Warren left, the doorbell at the entryway rang again.
Chloe Sinclair was a little confused.
After all, they didn’t invite relatives over on the first day of the Lunar New Year.
