’So Jasper heard me just now?’

Chloe Sinclair huffed, but still carefully handed the ring to Jasper Shaw.

"Put it on for me."

A smile touched Jasper Shaw’s lips as he nodded. "Alright."

With that, he took a woman’s ring from the gift box and gently slipped it onto Chloe Sinclair’s finger.

The moment seemed to slow down.

Chloe Sinclair had tried to sound casual, but her heart was pounding with nervousness.

Only when the ring was truly on her finger did Chloe Sinclair let out a long sigh of relief.

Under the light, the purple diamond glittered brilliantly.

Jasper Shaw praised her without hesitation. "It’s beautiful."

"Really?"

Chloe Sinclair gazed at the ring on her finger, her cheeks flushing slightly. "You have great taste."

"It certainly is."

Jasper Shaw agreed, then lowered his gaze to the matching men’s ring. Without needing Chloe Sinclair to put it on for him, he took it out and slipped it onto his own finger.

Chloe Sinclair felt a bit exasperated. "Jasper Shaw, why didn’t you tell me my brothers ganged up to beat you?"

She remembered how she’d thought he had purpura that day!

Her face flushed crimson at the thought of how stupid she had been.

"I stole you away. Your family has every right to be angry."

Jasper Shaw had expected as much when he and Chloe Sinclair first got together.

He just hadn’t expected the entire Sinclair family to show up together, which was why the injuries on his face looked a bit more serious.

Chloe Sinclair sighed, looking at the black and blue marks on Jasper Shaw’s face. ’They really beat him hard.’

"Don’t you dare lie to me again."

Jasper Shaw wouldn’t dare argue; he just nodded quickly.

"I’ll stay here with you tonight."

Chloe Sinclair paused, then nodded after a moment of hesitation.

Guided by the dim light, Chloe Sinclair got into bed.

Jasper Shaw sat by the window, quietly watching her.

Chloe Sinclair felt not a trace of fear. Lying in bed, she addressed the system, "Request to open the ’Carving’ portal."

"Request received."

"The ’Carving’ skill has been unlocked for the host."

As soon as the carving skill was unlocked, Chloe Sinclair entered the training space to begin learning.

At four in the morning, Jasper Shaw glanced at the time, reluctantly left Chloe Sinclair’s room, and disappeared through the window.

The moment Jasper Shaw was gone, Chloe Sinclair’s eyes snapped open.

After hearing the sound of an engine starting and tires rolling on pavement, Chloe Sinclair switched on the bright overhead light in her room.

The four hours she’d spent in the system had been enough to learn the basics of carving.

Three hours would be plenty of time to finish a few small pieces.

Chloe Sinclair went to the storage closet, found a few blocks of crafting wood, and began to carve, completely absorbed in her work.

She had already carved two small trinkets in the system, so she still had a feel for it. The carved gifts she planned to give to the Sinclair family were finished within an hour.

She wrapped the New Year’s gifts and quietly placed them outside the doors of her family’s elders.

As for the remaining two hours...

Chloe Sinclair looked at the small block of wood standing on her messy desk.

After a moment of thought, she picked up her carving knife and began to work.

If a master carver had been there, they would have noticed that Chloe Sinclair’s knife moved without a hint of hesitation, as effortlessly as a painter’s brush.

Chloe Sinclair carved with great detail. Because this block of wood was larger than the previous ones, the carving tools she needed were more complex.

It took Chloe Sinclair a full two hours to finish the carving.

Next came waxing, sanding, and polishing.

Everything fell into place perfectly.

She placed the gift in a box, planning to give it to Jasper Shaw before he left the next day.
