Chapter 400 - 389: New Drug Experiment
Chloe didn’t deny what Eight said.
The problem seemed simple, but theoretically, it was impossible to solve.
Current treatments like radiation, chemotherapy, and targeted drugs could effectively treat leukemia, but the recurrence rate was still high.
After mulling it over for a long while with no success, Chloe exited the system.
She looked at her densely filled notebook and painstakingly circled an acronym—ATRA.
A drug primarily used for topical skin application.
Chloe narrowed her eyes slightly and marked it for emphasis.
She organized her notes one more time, then packaged them and sent them to Owen Warren.
The moment Owen Warren received the message, he immediately replied with three question marks.
"Boss, what’s ATRA?"
A moment later, Owen Warren sent another message:
"Why not use AML?"
They might start with the same letter, but the two were worlds apart.
The former was practically unrelated to leukemia.
If Chloe Sinclair weren’t such a legendary figure, Owen Warren would’ve thought he was dealing with a fraud.
Seeing his question, Chloe was about to type a reply.
But she paused halfway through.
AML was one of the most effective reagents on the market, and many leukemia studies mentioned it.
’But in three years, it will be discovered that AML requires preventative measures against hyperuricemia, acidosis, electrolyte imbalances, and coagulation abnormalities induced by leukemia cell lysis.’
’As a result, in the future, AML would become a drug of last resort for leukemia treatment.’
’However, it’s still in the clinical trial phase right now, so these problems haven’t emerged yet.’
There was still a lot of hype around AML in the current market, so it was perfectly normal for Owen Warren to want to use it.
Chloe paused and deleted what she had been typing.
’Without concrete research and published papers, she couldn’t just spout off about the results, even though she knew them.’
Owen Warren: "Boss? What were you going to say?"
Chloe Sinclair: "Try both."
In his office, Owen Warren ran a hand through his messy hair.
Now he finally understood why Chloe Sinclair was so controversial online.
The woman simply didn’t play by the book.
Still, he chose to trust his boss. He jotted down "ATRA" in his notebook, planning to start the research the moment the final batch of lab materials arrived.
Owen Warren: "Oh, right. These are the latest job applications we’ve received. I’ve weeded out the ones that don’t meet your requirements, leaving twenty people. Do you want to interview them after the New Year when you get back?"
As he typed, he sent the files for all twenty candidates to Chloe Sinclair.
Chloe thought for a moment and decided to hold the interviews after she returned to school.
After they finished chatting, Chloe prepared to get some rest.
But just then, a loud, irregular POUNDING came from her door.
Chloe frowned. She knew that kind of knocking definitely wasn’t coming from anyone in the Sinclair family.
She ignored it, but the pounding outside her door only grew louder.
"Who is it?!"
Chloe was fuming but stayed put, with no intention of opening the door.
When it seemed she really wasn’t going to open the door, the person knocking finally spoke.
"Chloe, it’s your aunt! Open up!"
Chloe: "..."
She opened the door and glanced at Amanda Rhodes.
But Amanda Rhodes didn’t even bother with a greeting. She pushed right into Chloe’s room, her eyes full of envy as she looked around, before plopping right down on the bed.
Amanda Rhodes wasn’t wearing pajamas; she still had on the pants she’d been wearing that morning. The sight made Chloe uncomfortable.
Chloe didn’t have a strong impression of this aunt, other than knowing that Amanda Rhodes liked to take advantage of petty opportunities.
’But seeing her now, was this really just about being a freeloader?’
"Aunt, what are you doing in my room?"
