Amanda Rhodes looked up, not the least bit embarrassed. On the contrary, she let out an "Oh!" and said, "The guest rooms in the villa are too small. I heard your room was spacious, so I came over to have a look. I didn’t expect the lighting to be so good in here! I plan on sleeping in here with you tonight."

Chloe Sinclair: "..."

’It’s pitch-black outside. How can she possibly tell what the lighting is like?’

’She couldn’t even come up with a decent excuse.’

"Aunt, I’m not really comfortable sleeping with other people."

Hearing this, Amanda Rhodes’s face instantly bloomed into a smile. She quickly said, "That’s fine, that’s fine! You can sleep in my room. That one’s spacious too. You’re petite, so it’ll be a perfect fit."

The corner of Chloe Sinclair’s mouth twitched. She couldn’t help but point out, "This is my room."

’She might be a guest, but she certainly wasn’t acting like one, even trying to sleep in the master bedroom.’

’Besides, while the room Amanda Rhodes was staying in was a little on the small side, all the rooms on the second floor were second in size only to the master bedroom. They just weren’t as exquisitely furnished.’

’After all, the family rarely had guests, and the Sinclairs were out from morning till night.’

’But it was perfectly adequate, no matter how you looked at it.’

’It was nowhere near as unbearable as Amanda Rhodes made it sound.’

"Aunt, if you feel the room is too small, I can have you moved to another one. I’d rather other people didn’t come into my room."

At this, Amanda Rhodes’s expression soured. "Not convenient? What, you think I’m going to steal something? Don’t tell me you’re hiding priceless treasures in here."

Chloe Sinclair narrowed her eyes. "Not exactly priceless, no. But some things did go missing from my room a while back. And while they might not be worth a fortune, a lot of what’s in here can’t be made public. If you sleep here tonight and any information gets leaked, it won’t just be me in trouble. You’ll be having a nice long talk down at the police station too."

Amanda Rhodes froze on the spot.

"Don’t try to scare me!"

In truth, Chloe Sinclair’s words had thoroughly spooked her.

The Sinclair Family may have been wealthy, but her own background was quite ordinary.

There were many things she had never encountered personally, but she had heard stories.

As a result, she was completely taken in by Chloe Sinclair’s bluff.

Chloe Sinclair tilted her head and explained patiently, "Aunt, would I really try to scare you? If you don’t believe me, go ask the household staff whether that data leak incident really happened."

Amanda Rhodes hastily shook her head.

’Chloe Sinclair sounded so sure of herself; how could she possibly dare to ask?’

Without so much as a goodbye, Amanda Rhodes scurried back to her room.

Seeing this, Chloe Sinclair gave a slight shake of her head.

’Her aunt had never done anything truly malicious; she just liked to gain small advantages here and there, which was still within the realm of what Chloe could tolerate.’

With Amanda Rhodes gone, Chloe Sinclair could finally lie down on her bed and rest.

She closed her eyes, and soon, the sound of her steady breathing filled the room.

The next morning, after seeing their relatives off, the four siblings all breathed a collective sigh of relief.

"We call them ’relatives,’ but I don’t even know most of their names. Maybe we should just stop inviting them all over for the New Year."

Gabriel Sinclair rubbed his hand. "I signed over a hundred autographs for them yesterday. My hand is killing me."

The other siblings said nothing.

But Ethan Sinclair, who was standing nearby, looked over at Chloe Sinclair and asked, "Chloe, Aunt Amanda didn’t come looking for you yesterday, did she?"

"She did, but she only stayed in my room for a little while before leaving."

Hearing this, her brothers were all stunned, looking at her in disbelief.

Chloe Sinclair cleared her throat twice and recounted the previous day’s events from start to finish.

Only then did it all click into place for them.
