Chapter 325: Anger
Gabriel Sinclair didn’t say anything, just stood there stunned for who knows how long.
Just then, the straw caught fire. Chloe Sinclair cleared a hollow space in the center, then looked up and said, "Gabriel, hand me a few sticks every now and then."
With that, she stood up and began placing all the chopped vegetables in front of her.
As she was about to start cooking, she added worriedly, "Don’t let the fire go out."
Yarrow Province was humid year-round, making firewood difficult to burn.
Chloe Sinclair wanted to add a few more instructions, but seeing the look on Gabriel’s face, she decided against it. Just reminding him not to let the fire go out would have to be enough.
’When it came to her brother, she absolutely couldn’t have high expectations.’
In the dead of winter, a light snow had begun to fall over the village elementary school.
Inside the kitchen, Chloe Sinclair continuously stirred the vegetables in the large wok.
A meal for over two hundred people, even with just one scoop per person, would still require more than half the massive wok.
Chloe Sinclair was struggling a bit with the cooking, but aside from the two classmates traveling with her who came in to ask if she needed help, the other guests didn’t lift a finger.
Gabriel’s expression was thunderous the entire time.
When it was time to eat, a bell rang, and students from every class lined up on the playground with their bowls.
Chloe Sinclair had just finished bringing a table out.
In the span of an hour, Chloe Sinclair had made seven dishes and a soup all by herself.
Even with her excellent stamina, she was now feeling the strain.
She and Gabriel worked together to carry the large serving bowls over to the table, ready to serve the students.
Just then, the other guests returned from who-knows-where, talking and laughing.
Gabriel’s already gloomy expression darkened instantly.
The variety show, "Teacher is coming," was a special program created by the network to raise social awareness for volunteer teaching and impoverished rural villages.
But he had hesitated for a long time when he saw the other actors who had been cast alongside him.
All of them had bad reputations in the entertainment industry.
But after much consideration, and with some persuasion from his agent, he had agreed to join the show.
He had been happy to learn that his little sister was coming, but he was furious that while she was cooking, aside from the two young women who came in to help, not a single one of the other guests had come in!
Chloe Sinclair immediately sensed Gabriel’s anger. She glanced at the group walking in from the school gate and instantly understood why.
Still, she tugged on Gabriel’s sleeve and shook her head.
Although Gabriel was reluctant, he listened to his sister.
After they finished serving the students, Chloe Sinclair and her two classmates went back to clean up the kitchen.
Just then, Gabriel returned with all the leftover food.
Chloe turned her head. "Are the students done eating?"
"Yeah," Gabriel mumbled.
Then, he walked straight to the table, picked up a bowl, and served a bowl of rice to each of the four of them.
There wasn’t much rice; after one bowl each, only a small amount was left in the pot.
The two students never expected their idol to serve them rice and were completely starstruck.
One of them hesitated, however. "Aren’t we waiting for the others?"
No sooner had she said that than Adela Armstrong and the others walked into the kitchen, laughing and talking.
When Adela Armstrong saw that Chloe Sinclair and the others had already started eating, her smiling face immediately fell.
"Eating this early?"
Before Chloe could say anything, Gabriel shot back, "We’ve been working all day. What else are we supposed to do besides eat?"
His sister had been working hard all day, cooking seven dishes and a pot of soup that afternoon.
And these people hadn’t helped with anything besides washing eighteen tomatoes!
Adela Armstrong never thought Gabriel Sinclair would actually confront her on camera.
She instinctively glanced toward the cameras and breathed a sigh of relief.
’Thank God it wasn’t a live broadcast.’
